Chapter 220: Dream monster
Head Supervisor stared at the stone dragon with a face full of shock. "Wh...what is that?"
"This is just a dragon monster. You should be familiar with monsters, right?" Vacuse leaped onto the back of the dragon and the stone turned black like liquid shadow.
The Head Supervisor took hurried steps backward, his tentacles getting tangled as he drove back, but it was all for nothing as the dragon construct lunged forward, fangs snapping closed with a horrible crunching sound.
Vacuse snorted darkly. "Not bad. But I wish I had the time to make him feel some more pain. That would have been really good."
Alas, he would have to settle for that. And so, with a mental command, the dragon construct opened its mouth wide and a formation appeared in front of them, trembling with red light. Beams of red light began to blast out as he started the destruction of the dream pods.
He destroyed every single one of them.
Of course, he knew that some of those in the pods might actually be his allies. It was something he put into consideration before he carried out the attack.
And so, even before the fight started at all, he had used his senses to check if there were any Soulbearers in there, since the energy of Soulbearers is always different.
The dragon construct spread its wings and flew up, destroying all the pods. Outside, a monster began to roar in confusion. One thing Vacuse had confirmed, and was glad for, was that the dream monster wasn’t intelligent.
The monster was created with a singular purpose of acting like a tool, and that was what it was. Much like the dragon construct.
When every single pod was destroyed, Vacuse flew outside and nodded in satisfaction. "Well done, Sivan."
His void creature came out victorious, and he had already sensed it through their link. He also came off with some injuries—one of his right hands had been cut away and there was an ugly gash by his neck.
All in all, Vacuse was satisfied with Sivan’s performance of killing three third circle Magus. Besides, he would only need to heal him back through the Void and with some of his own energy.
"Climb up."
Sivan leaped onto the back of the dragon construct and they all faced where Lady Slave was.
She was facing the door, her hand pointed forward, her fingers glowing with blinding red light.
The door was sealed away by what appeared to be blood, and apparently, it was taking a lot of her energy to hold it closed. "They’re going to break it open! We have to go!"
Vacuse raised his brows. "Come up here then. And get out of the way."
She didn’t need to be told twice.
The blood holding the door crumbled and Magus poured into the hallway, shouting angrily, just in time to get a face full of a hot beam of red light that instantly killed the first wave.
Vacuse wasn’t holding back on using the reserve powers of the dragon construct.
With a light pat on the back, its wings spread and it took to the air, blowing gusts of wind in an imitation of a hurricane. The dragon construct flew forward and collided with the magic shield that enveloped the tower, shattering through and letting out a loud roar on the other side.
Those fighting below looked up in shock at the sight of a dragon spreading its wings over their academy.
It was an absurd thing.
Eboncrypt didn’t suffer from direct attacks that much. Who would dare when the Lord of the tower was so powerful? So they were completely shocked when they saw such a beast flying above them.
Even more shocking still, when the monster turned around and headed directly toward the dream monster!
Most of them did not bother to do anything. First, they were fighting the two hundred and fifty Eyes of Sorrow, and secondly, who in their right mind would face the dream monster?
Even the fifth circle Magus would not do such a dangerous thing.
But something astonishing happened.
The dragon opened its mouth and one single beam of light poured out like lightning. The attack hit the monster straight on the head... and the head exploded!
The dream monster didn’t even defend itself. It was as if it lacked the power to do anything against the attack.
But the dragon did not stop there. It flew closer, mouth open to rain more attacks on the dream monster, mutilating the body.
The fifth circle Magus finally couldn’t take it anymore and he howled in rage. One of his undead, the woman with red hair, directly stopped fighting and turned toward the dragon, uncaring that the tree monster would attack her from behind.
The undead raised its hand and sent streams of fire at the dragon.
But by then... the dragon had already turned tail and fled, leaving only a blast of wind behind.
The fifth circle Magus froze, staring at the body of the dream monster. What... just what was he going to tell the Lord when he returned? How was he even going to say it?
His eyes turned even colder than that of his undead and his face set into calm stone. "It wasn’t as if I didn’t want to use my trump card from the beginning. I will catch that dragon and whoever is behind it!"
Space tore behind him as an old monster dragged itself out.
It was time to finish the fight.

The air blew Vacuse’s hair back angrily, shoving the stink of his mangled hair into his face.
"...I need to wash..."
They were far away from the Eboncrypt castle and now they flew above the city that spread below them in lit-up small shapes. Seeing the city below him brought a satisfied smile to Vacuse’s face as he enjoyed his freedom.
Indeed, he had taken freedom for granted. "...I’m really glad that I have the power to fight for my own freedom... this is something I couldn’t do in my past life..."
But of course, there is always someone willing to shatter the silence.
