Chapter 221: The land

"What are we going to do now, eh red eyes slave?" Lady Slave was shifting uncomfortably on the back of the dragon construct, trying her best not to shiver.

That strange creature that red eyes slave summoned was sitting behind her and it was making all the hair on her body to stand. It wasn’t an u death and yet it was behaving like one! She had never seen anything like that before.

Not to talk of the power of the creature. It had killed three third circle Magus as if it was nothing.

Maybe...maybe she shouldn’t have involved herself with him at all but now they are both In it together and she had to try her best to keep herself alive.

Red eyes slave turned to her, his red eyes making her uncomfortable as he stared at her. "What do you think? You are familiar with all of this. So speak!"

Lady Slave took a deep breath. "Well...it’ll be senseless to keep flying over the city. They will easily track us this way and it will be the fifth circle Magus that will come after us.

"They will also mobilize all the forces to come after us. You killed their dream monster after all."

Red eyes slave smiled at that. "Next time they’ll make a monster that’s not totally defendant on the dream it consumes. They should make a stronger one. What do you want us to do?"

"Umbracrypt lies in the west and if we keep going like this we’ll reach there eventually but we’ll be in the open. On my left is the north, and the Dark Wilderness, if we go through their to reach our destination, we probably won’t make it.

"The northern mountains are filled with bandits but there’s also a way that’ll lead to Umbracrypt."

Vacuse considered this carefully. He turned around to stare at the Black Wilderness far into the distance. According to its name, the thick Wilderness was covered in darkness as if even sunlight dare not touch it, just looking at it gives one a sense of danger.

’...Rith, as I am now. If I enter that place. What is my chances of survival?...’

Rith didn’t hesitate. ’....none. You will die. Probably in the most horrible way....’

Vacuse nodded. "Cancle the Dark Wilderness. We are going to focus on the mountains. Although, that’s likely where the Magus are going to focus their search on."

Lady Slave released a deep breath. She has long realized that she had no power compared to red eyes slave and thus the only thing she could do was follow his lead.

"This is a great choice and it was initially what I planned to do once I get out of Eboncrypt. Although the bandits are vicious, we’ll be able to manage it even more."

With a mental command, the dragon construct turned to the right and changed its flying direction.

Vacuse relaxed a little. "I thought you said Cold Barren cleared all the Dark Wilderness in this place? Why’s one here?"

"It was left there by Cold Barren. It was said that it was the reason he created the two Academies here to look more deeply into something in there. If you are a necromancers and you take your undead deeper into that Dark Wilderness the connection between the two of you will be severed and it will keep moving on its on to the very core of it."

Vacuse raised his brows. "What’s at the core of the Dark Wilderness?"

"Who knows? Not me at least. That place is too dangerous for my small level of power. But from what I heard, the rumors is that there’s an inheritance from an incredible entity in there and that’s the reason why the two necromancers, Pale and Shroud want to take control of this territory."

Vacuse turned to look at the distant Dark Wilderness and his eyes glittered. An inheritance? He couldn’t help the greed that rose up in him but at the same time he was smart enough not to act on it.

"I see. Then that coffin you are carrying is related to Cold Barren and the war right."

Lady Slave smiled but she didn’t reply.

But silence was answer enough for Vacuse.

He began to think about his next step.

The first thing he should do was look for his attendants. To know if they are dead or still alive. And to get information about his opponent, Eloryna Stormhaven. He hadn’t forgotten that he was in a Great Dungeon and that there was a competition going on.

’... the best thing to do was to start sweeping the city for any news of them. I know they are probably looking for me as well. But I have to take care of this Lady Slave first. It is a matter of highest importance as it threatened my life directly...’

’....it’s going to take at least half a month to reach Umbracrypt and hopefully, we manage to throw the Magus off by then and I can start focusing on my search...’

"How dangerous is the mountains."

"Depending on your level of strength, I guess. I don’t think it should be that dangerous for us to handle at least for the most parts."

"Most parts?" Vacuse frowned.

"Yes. The bandits are a little more organized than people thought. You see, the mountain is called the Hiding Mountains. The mountain is filled with lots of caves and hiding spots that harbors monsters.

"When Cold Barren was clearing the land, lots of monsters poured from the Wilderness to wherever they could find. And the mountain is a good hiding spot, not only is it extremely large, there’s lots of hiding spots.

"These monsters bred and multiple. The bandits turn them into their source of food and their base of operation for raiding cities, towns and villages."

Vacuse sighed. He was already getting headache. Now he was sure the half month journey is probably going to turn out much longer.

’...I’ve already spent up to two months in this damned Great Dungeon! I’ve not even have the chance to loot and get rewards for myself!...’
