Chapter 728: Chapter 726: Zhiwen and Zhiwu Come to Stay

Jiang Changhai had already heard the conversation between the two, and when Su Wanyu hung up the phone, he pulled her into his embrace and said softly, "It’s great that Uncle and his family are coming over. When the time comes, you can take a few days off work and accompany them around the house."

"Mm, I know." Su Wanyu nodded.

The next day Su Wanyu went to work as usual, and colleagues from other departments in her unit, having heard about the eyeliner pencils, also came to buy things from her.

Over the past few days, Su Wanyu had been selling lipsticks and eyeliner pencils intermittently, and the stock at home was almost gone.

In the evening, when she returned home, there were always neighbors coming to her house to buy toys. Although she didn’t sell much each time, she at least earned more than what she used to make from wholesale.

After another three days, on the weekend, Su Wanyu and Jiang Changhai were both resting at home. Zhang Guihua came carrying a shoulder pole laden with new rice.

"Mom, Laosan, you’re here, come inside." Su Wanyu and Jiang Changhai were watering the vegetable garden outside, and they hurriedly called out to them when they saw them arriving.

"Aiyah, the weather is really too hot." After walking into the house, Zhang Guihua wiped the sweat from her forehead and complained.

Hearing this, Su Wanyu quickly took out a chilled watermelon from the bucket, cut it in half, and brought it over on a large tray.

"Mom, Laosan, here, have some watermelon to cool off." Su Wanyu offered warmly.

"Ah, that’s great." Zhang Guihua took a slice of watermelon and bit into it.

"Mm, this watermelon is so sweet and delicious," said Zhang Guihua, who was hot and thirsty. After taking a bite of watermelon, she felt much better and kept praising it.

Jiang Changtao, too, was eating diligently, devouring a slice of watermelon in a few bites before picking up another to eat.

"Mom, this watermelon was sent over by Wang Li’s house." Su Wanyu took the other half of the watermelon to the table where the children were writing and let them eat while they worked.

Jiang Mianmian, very considerately, held the large palm-leaf fan and crouched next to the old lady, fanning her.

"Grandma, are you still hot?" Jiang Mianmian had only fanned a little before she began to seek praise.

"Not hot anymore, with my great-granddaughter fanning me, I’m not hot at all, very comfortable. That’s enough, I’m not hot anymore, go eat some watermelon." The old lady didn’t want Jiang Mianmian’s precious little hands to keep fanning for her, so she took over the palm-leaf fan with a smile and told her to eat the watermelon.

Jiang Changhai squatted down next to the basket that Laosan had brought over, turning over the contents inside, "Wow, rice, and there are wild sweet potatoes too."

"This rice is newly harvested by our village this year, smells amazing! These wild sweet potatoes, I picked them specially for Mianmian a few days ago in the field."

After Zhang Guihua finished speaking, she grabbed a handful of wild sweet potatoes and took them to the well. Using the water that had cooled the watermelon, she washed the sweet potatoes clean before handing them to Jiang Mianmian.

"Here, I know you love eating these during the summer." She said.

"Thank you, Grandma." Jiang Mianmian smiled sweetly as she took the wild sweet potatoes, tasting just as good as they always had.

After finishing the watermelon, the old lady also had a chance to rest. She then said to Jiang Changhai, "Eldest, we came this time not only to bring you rice but also to discuss something with you."

"What’s the matter, Mom?" Jiang Changhai asked, puzzled.

"Isn’t it that Zhiwen and Zhiwu are also going to school in the town next semester? Stone Bridge Village is too far from the school. So I was thinking of having the two of them stay at your house for meals and lodging. You have plenty of spare rooms, and it wouldn’t be a bother to clear one for your nephews." Zhang Guihua said matter-of-factly.
