Chapter 729: Chapter 727: It’s Really Laughable
In her heart, as a mother, Eldest and Laosan were her sons, Biological Brothers. It was only right and proper for them to help each other.
“Coming to stay at my house?”
Jiang Changhai first exchanged a somewhat surprised glance with Su Wanyu, then turned to Jiang Changtao who had been silent.
Once Jiang Changtao was looked at by his elder brother, he immediately declared, “Eldest brother, don’t worry. If Zhiwen and Zhiwu come to stay at your place, I assure you they’ll be obedient and won’t disrupt Mianmian’s studies. I’ll send over their provisions every month. They won’t freeload in your house, and you can tell them to do whatever needs doing.”
As Jiang Changtao spoke, he kept an eye on Jiang Changhai’s expression.
He remembered his elder brother once said that his two sons were only his nephews, and he had no obligation to raise them.
He didn’t know whether his elder brother would agree to take in the two children.
Jiang Changhai didn’t respond right away; instead, he first glanced at his wife. After seeing her nod slightly, he spoke, “Mom, Laosan, they can stay, there’s plenty of room in the house. However, we usually eat at the canteen for breakfast and lunch; we can’t come back to cook for the kids specially. You should send half of their provisions to the school for their lunch, and the other half to our place. They can eat dinner with us in the evening. After all, they are my nephews, so I won’t ask for their dinner’s vegetables and meat.”
Upon hearing this, Laosan started nodding his head quickly in agreement, “Okay, okay, Eldest brother, we’ll do as you say.”
Jiang Changtao, seeing his elder brother agree so readily, felt extremely grateful. His elder brother still cared a lot about their brotherly bond.
After all, they were Biological Brothers, blood nephews; how could he possibly not care at all, as he said before.
“Alright, then it’s settled,” Zhang Guihua also thought that her eldest son was right.
There’s a saying that teenagers can eat their fathers out of house and home, and Zhiwen and Zhiwu were at an age where they needed a lot of food for growing, and they ate plenty at every meal. Even though Eldest’s family had money, they couldn’t just support their nephews’ meals like that.
It was only right that Laosan brought food!
The old lady, though fond of her grandsons, knew that Jiang Changhai was her own flesh and blood, and he had given her a granddaughter, a Little Genius, who significantly raised her status in the village.
In the old lady’s heart, both sides were important, so she never thought of letting her grandsons take advantage of her own son.
As for why Jiang Changhai and Su Wanyu agreed to let Zhiwen and Zhiwu stay, there were two reasons.
First, the kids were, after all, their biological nephews, and there was empty space in the house – such a small favor was nothing for them to help with when they could.
The other reason was that their family was planning to move to the city next year. All things considered, the two boys could only stay at their house for a year, which wouldn’t really affect them.
After settling the schooling arrangements for Zhiwen and Zhiwu, Zhang Guihua, as if she remembered something funny, laughed and said, “Eldest, Eldest daughter-in-law, when you have a day off, bring Mianmian back home to stay for a few days. You don’t know, the old man always misses Mianmian when he has nothing to do. I asked him if he’s missing his granddaughter, and he’s as stubborn as a dying duck, not uttering a word – it’s really amusing.”
Jiang Changhai would usually have readily agreed to this, but this time he looked troubled and said, “Mom, it’s not possible. In a few days, my wife’s Uncle is coming to visit us, we really can’t make it during this period.”
