Chapter 304: Chapter 277: Old Sir Gu Falls
Fenglin Villa
Qiao Yuxian waited until Qiao Zhiang fell asleep before returning to the room.
But just as she returned to the room, she was pressed against the door by Gu Yanjing and given a long kiss.
She paid a heavy price for her behavior in the study.
She originally thought Gu Yanjing only kissed her, but when she was washing up and bathing, she discovered three marks left on her left chest.
Qiao Yuxian, who wasn’t prone to blushing from being kissed, turned red from head to toe in an instant.
She turned so red that the three marks became less noticeable.
She hurriedly soaked herself in the bathtub again to cool down.
When she came out of the bathroom, she was still a bit flushed.
Gu Yanjing knew the reason for her redness, but he deliberately asked, "What’s wrong?"
Qiao Yuxian adjusted the collar of her robe, glared at him, and turned to walk toward the bedroom.
Once in the bedroom, she kicked off her slippers and threw herself onto the bed, rolling over and wrapping herself tightly in the blanket.
Gu Yanjing saw her half-damp hair, fetched a hairdryer, sat at the head of the bed, and gently pulled her little head out from under the covers.
Qiao Yuxian buried her face in the blanket without speaking.
Gu Yanjing didn’t say anything either, slowly drying her hair.
Blow-drying someone’s hair for the first time, he was very unfamiliar with it and afraid to hurt her, so he dried her hair very slowly.
By the time her hair was dry, Qiao Yuxian was almost asleep.
Gu Yanjing placed the hairdryer on the bedside table, pulled her blanket down, and cupped her face to reveal it.
He leaned down and pecked her lips.
As soon as he touched her lips, Qiao Yuxian bit him.
She bit a bit hard. Gu Yanjing’s lips twitched, but he let her bite, and after she let go, he kissed her lips again before getting up, "Are you hot?"
"Hot," Qiao Yuxian replied.
"Come out."
"No," Qiao Yuxian said.
Her "no" landed in Gu Yanjing’s ears, and he interpreted the word as "hug."
He pulled her out of the blanket and laid her properly on the bed.
Gu Yanjing put the hairdryer back in the bathroom, and when he returned, Qiao Yuxian was already lying on the bed in a "big" shape.
She hadn’t left him any space.
Gu Yanjing looked at her.
Qiao Yuxian raised her chin at him.
Gu Yanjing didn’t say anything, turned off the light, flipped her over, got into bed, held her in his arms, and kissed the top of her head, "Sleep, you have work tomorrow."
"No," Qiao Yuxian seemed to have grown a rebellious streak in her mouth.
"Hmm, no," Gu Yanjing didn’t refute her but just held her, gently patting her shoulder.
In the darkness, neither of them spoke.
The room was as dark as ink and silent, leaving only the slight sounds unique to the deep night.
In less than five minutes, Gu Yanjing heard Qiao Yuxian’s steady breathing.
He slightly curled his lips, kissed her brow, and closed his eyes to sleep.
But neither of them slept long.
At around two in the morning, Gu Yanjing’s phone suddenly rang.
They both opened their eyes almost simultaneously.
Gu Yanjing first touched Qiao Yuxian’s head, then reached out to grab the phone.
The caller ID showed it was from the Gu Mansion.
Gu Yanjing immediately got up and answered the phone, "What’s the matter?"
"Mr. Gu, Mr. Gu," the other side said frantically, "Old Sir Gu just fell in the bathroom and is on the way to the hospital."
Gu Yanjing got off the bed and walked to the dressing room, "How is he?"
"Old Sir Gu is dizzy, has high blood pressure, and is not in good spirits," the person on the other side said.
"I’m on my way," Gu Yanjing hung up the phone, randomly put on some clothes.
When he came out of the dressing room, he didn’t see Qiao Yuxian. So he headed straight out of the room.
Just as he left the bedroom, Qiao Yuxian came out of her side of the bedroom.
While walking out, she was buttoning her clothes, "How is Grandfather?"
She had heard the voice on the other end of the phone while lying in bed.
As soon as Gu Yanjing got out of bed, she also got up and went back to her original room to get clothes.
She had too many clothes, and bringing them all wouldn’t fit, so she decided to keep them in her old room.
"It’s hard to say," Gu Yanjing said, "I’m going over, you stay at home."
"No," Qiao Yuxian said, "I’m going with you."
Gu Yanjing looked at the clothes she was wearing, very warm, she wouldn’t be cold. He held her hand and took her with him to the hospital.
Old Sir Gu’s heart isn’t good, and his blood pressure is also problematic.
He got dizzy from high blood pressure while getting up at night, causing him to fall.
By the time they reached the hospital, Old Sir Gu was already receiving an IV.
The doctor said he needed to be observed in the hospital for forty-eight hours to monitor his blood pressure.
If his blood pressure stabilizes, then there’s no major issue.
If it doesn’t stabilize, surgery on the heart might need to be considered.
But given his age, surgery poses a high risk.
Fortunately, when he fell, he didn’t hit any bones, only bruised a large area on his arm.
If he had broken something and was bedridden and immobile, the situation would be worse.
Gu Yanjing and Qiao Yuxian hurried to the hospital for a quick look at Old Sir Gu then promptly went to find the doctor to understand the situation.
After asking the doctor, they immediately returned to the ward.
Old Sir Gu lay with his eyes closed on the bed, appearing very weak, and his complexion wasn’t good.
With such weakness, he seemed to have aged several years in an instant.
Qiao Yuxian stood by the bedside, clutching Gu Yanjing’s fingers, blankly staring at Old Sir Gu.
Old Sir Gu, with closed eyes, dozed off for a while but didn’t really fall asleep.
He sensed someone present, opened his eyes to look, and when he saw Qiao Yuxian, was slightly startled, then regained a bit of clarity and smiled, "Yu Xian, you came?"
Qiao Yuxian was also a bit dazed, but hearing Old Sir Gu speak, she snapped back, walked to the bedside, and sat on a chair, "Grandfather."
"It’s so late, and you made the trip. I’m fine, go back and get a good rest," Old Sir Gu said.
"Alright," Qiao Yuxian answered, "The doctor also said it’s nothing. He said we can leave after staying for two days."
"Hmm, alright," Old Sir Gu smiled in response, then looked at Gu Yanjing, "I’m fine. You can leave someone here with me, take Yu Xian back."
"Hmm," Gu Yanjing said, "I’ll take her back once you fall asleep."
"Take her back now," Old Sir Gu said, "What’s there to do here? You can’t sleep well either."
"It’s fine, Grandpa," Qiao Yuxian said, "I want to stay a bit longer. Or is it that you don’t want me here? Don’t like me staying?"
"How could that be? That’s not true," Old Sir Gu’s voice wasn’t as strong as usual.
"You should have told us earlier if you weren’t feeling well," Qiao Yuxian suddenly said.
Gu Yanjing glanced at Qiao Yuxian.
At this moment, he clearly felt her vulnerability, like a weakness hidden deep within her heart.
"Old issue, don’t worry," Old Sir Gu said.
"It’s our fault," Qiao Yuxian whispered, "Grandfather, please don’t speak anymore, it’s tiring. Rest for a bit, once you fall asleep, I’ll go back."
"Alright," Old Sir Gu said, "Don’t worry."
"Hmm."
Once Old Sir Gu fell asleep, Gu Yanjing wanted her to go back, but she wouldn’t.
Outside the door, Qiao Yuxian insisted, "I don’t want to go back, let me stay here."
Gu Yanjing looked at her for a moment, stepped forward, hugged her, patted her head, "Don’t be afraid, Grandfather will be okay."
"Hmm," Qiao Yuxian leaned against his chest, and after a while, closed her eyes.
Gu Yanjing knew she was worried about Old Sir Gu, but also seeing him brought back some bad memories for her.
