Chapter 3 The Space

Chapter 3 The Space

Bowing her head, she found the tattered clothes of her original body utterly repulsive. Touching her long braid, she felt disgusted. Her hair was slick with oil, as if it hadn't been washed in ages. She wondered why she kept it so long if she didn't wash it regularly.

She rushed into the villa's bathroom and threw the clothes into the washing machine. Standing under the stream of hot water, her waist-length hair was truly inconvenient to wash. Using her mind, she summoned scissors and with a few snips, cut her long hair to shoulder length, not caring if it was even.

After washing five times consecutively to clean her hair and body, she lay in the massage bathtub, finally free to ponder everything.

This space was discovered in her past life from a retro gemstone anklet her father had gifted her. It happened when her foot accidentally bumped into a table leg. Although the impact wasn't severe, the anklet on her foot scraped her skin, causing it to bleed.

The bloodstain on her ankle was absorbed by the star-shaped gem on the anklet. The anklet then miraculously disappeared before her eyes, leaving a faint star-shaped imprint on her ankle.

This miraculous phenomenon filled Ye Shenge with both excitement and fear. She had read countless novels and harbored expectations for magical occurrences but had never truly believed them. Yet, now it was happening to her, and she began to wonder if she had been fortunate enough to obtain a legendary space.

However, no matter how much she willed it, the space never appeared, leaving Ye Shenge deeply disappointed. It wasn't until one day, while unconsciously touching the star imprint on her ankle, that she suddenly felt dizzy and fell onto soft earth.

Looking at everything before her, Ye Shenge still found it hard to believe. She pinched her thigh hard. The intense pain made Ye Shenge want to shout with joy, but thinking of her current condition, she held back.

Ye Shenge stood up and carefully observed the space. The black soil covered an area of only two to three mu. Beside the black soil was a neglected, fenced-in empty courtyard. There were no houses within the courtyard, but it felt as if they had once existed.

Behind the courtyard was another open space, where scattered plants were growing. Ye Shenge squatted down and examined them, realizing they were medicinal herbs. She could only recognize some as ginseng; the rest were entirely unfamiliar.

There was a well in this open space. Ye Shenge peered inside, only to find not a single drop of water. It was a dry well. Her hope for a spiritual spring was dashed. She had been thinking that with a spiritual spring, her heart condition might be cured, but it turned out to be just wishful thinking.

In truth, the space wasn't much to see; it was desolate overall. Ye Shenge stood there feeling a bit dejected. Even if she had a magical space, what was the use? Her heart could only hold on for another two years at most, and with her death, this space might disappear along with her.

It wasn't until after a relapse and experiencing the same dream for over a month that a sense of urgency began to set in. Whenever she fell asleep, she would hear a girl's voice calling her, constantly urging her that she couldn't hold on much longer and that she should hurry over.

Having such a dream once was one thing, but for over a month, she couldn't ignore it. The dream also began to include visuals, making Ye Shenge realize the living conditions there were very poor. Whether she went there after death or not, she needed to prepare some things to put into the space, just in case.

Ye Shenge had been doted upon her entire life. She was the only granddaughter in three generations of the Ye family. The Ye family held an unshakeable position in the military, political, and business sectors. Yet, despite all this, the Ye family was helpless against Ye Shenge's heart condition, and finding a matching heart for her rare panda blood was proving impossible.
