Chapter 88

Chapter 88: Chapter 88

Mart tightens the button of the uniform shirt brought to him by Iristel who is lying on the bed in the private hospital room of the Danteriar Academy she is still naked and looks at Mart with a flirtatious smile, even though her horns and tail had disappeared again.

-You are very provocative. You know that, don’t you?

-Did you enjoy it? -Iristel asked.

-Yes, every second, every move, every thing, it was really good. -Mart answered as he put on a tie.

Next to Iristel, Selenia was still sleeping, covered by a white sheet.

-Tell Selenia to find me when she is available. -Mart said to Iristel, then kissed her and walked towards the door of the room.

Mart put on the blue academy tunic over his uniform and walked around the academy.

"Look, it’s Mart Sevec."

"I heard he took on one of the traitors."

"They said he lost an arm; apparently he’s a lucky bastard."

Mart was walking through the halls of the Academy, he was hearing a myriad of rumors, but he didn’t like it too much when they said he had confronted one of the conspirators.

"This is no longer a simple conspiracy. Even humans, were part of what happened, with so many internal and external enemies it is understandable that the demon country has fallen. I hope that having helped Director Persec will become the basis for the stability and prosperity of the demon country," Mart thought, until he heard a male voice calling him:

-Student Mart Sevec.

Mart turned around, and saw the professor who always wore black clothes, with his black hair and horns, pale skin, who earlier made the students nervous, on Marrac Mountain, with his cold speech.

-Professor Drain Smart. What do you want? -Mart asked in a respectful tone.

-Follow me, Principal Persec wants to see you. -Professor Drain explained and the two walked through the corridors until they left the facilities in which the classrooms dedicated to classes were located, then they walked along a path paved with white stones towards the building in which Principal Persec’s study room was located.

Professor Drain eventually looked at Mart as they walked.

"I’d rather ignore him, I have nothing important to say and I don’t want to be the center of attention being so weak myself," Mart thought.

A few minutes later, they arrived in front of the carved wooden double doors, which was a very elegant amber color.

Professor Drain withdrew after they arrived in front of the double doors.

The doors opened on their own and Mart recognized the presence of Principal Persec.

Mart entered, bowed and said in a respectful tone:

-Director Persec, I was informed that you wished to see me.

Beside the imposing director Persec, stood his beautiful and dignified granddaughter Isirid Merliana. Mart watched her subtly and thought, "She is a peculiar beauty; but in the land of demons there would not be a demon who would dare to deny the beauty she possesses."

Director Persec waved his hand and six objects appeared on the desk, the direct waved his hand in Mart’s direction and a little golden box floated to Mart’s left hand who opened the little box and saw a silver colored ring, he checked it:

"4 million gold coins. I think I could live a full life with this if the demon country wasn’t in danger," Mart thought, then placed the ring on his hand and put the box in his demon purse.

-My granddaughter informed me that you asked for compensation for the ransom, I hope you are satisfied.

"More than that. I thought I would be ruined," Mart replied to himself, but told the director:

-It was the resources bought with the gold, which allowed me to be a worthy support so that your granddaughter could be safe, otherwise I would have only been a simple demon in the second rank unable to manage to help in anything. I apologize to you if I sounded rude; I also apologize to Miss Merliana, for calling it a rescue, since in the end it was thanks to the joint work between the two of us that we managed to repel such a powerful enemy.

-You say you are in the second rank? But your demonic energy is that of a demon in the third rank. -said Director Persec.

"Yes, I was thinking the same thing. But the system doesn’t consider it so until I raise all my attributes to the third rank."

-You are very picky with yourself Alvat believer. You can be sure that Alvat will be satisfied with everything you have done for the demons. -Added Director Persec in a rather cordial tone.

"Believer of Alvat? So many things happened that I forgot to look into that. Should I just ask Professor Helen?" thought Mart, but his thoughts were interrupted by Director Persec who said to him:

-Among these 5 objects, you can choose the one you want.

Mart looked at the objects carefully.

[Greed trait activated]

[You will get triple everything you earn].

Mart’s eyes sparkled looking at the treasures whose value must have been unquestionable, since they had been selected by Director Persec.

Mart calmed down and asked Director Persec:

-Can you tell me the use of each object. I would appreciate it.

Director Persec pointed first to a blank mask, and explained:

-This is the mask of the faker. If you put this mask on, it will cling to your face giving you the appearance you desire, it also suppresses your energy or makes it difficult to identify. It is a demonic object of high rank.

"It is a very useful object. I like it. You’re my first choice for the moment," Mart thought.

Secondly Director Persec pointed to a demonic staff that looked like the root of a tree, whose smaller roots enveloped a beautiful green colored gem. Director Persec explained:

-This is a high rank staff, specifically rank 6, despite its appearance, it is a demonic staff, it contains and absorbs energy from the environment efficiently, but its potential can be appreciated when using demonic spells of a plant nature.

"It’s something similar to the green magic of humans; it’s perfect for Selis, but...", thought Mart who turned his gaze to the potion whose lid was a beautiful iridescent gem.

-This is a special level potion, it is above the rest of the potions, it is very expensive, its manufacture takes a period of 50 years, and allows you to activate your lineage. -Persec explained after seeing that Mart looked at the potion.

"Wow, that’s pretty cool stuff. But I like the way I look. Also, I don’t think I have the power for the system to analyze if that potion is able to awaken Emy’s lineage," Mart thought, showing little interest in the potion, after which he saw a scary looking book whose cover was made of different colored skin joined by grotesque sutures that gave the appearance of a face in agony.

-This is a cursed grimoire, I know you study and practice curses. This book has detailed information about the most powerful curses. This book represents the basis of my knowledge. -Explained Director Persec in a leisurely tone.

Mart nodded, and turned his gaze to the mask and the cursed grimoire, as he thought, "These two are the best items I have been offered at the moment." At last Mart looked at the blank envelope on the table and the director explained:

-This is an exclusive pass so that you can access the Danteriar Gardens, even if you are not an S-class student. But, I believe that if you apply for a test, you have the capabilities to pass and move up to S class. Only a capable student would be able to create a curse in a moment of extreme danger.

-I thank you for your words, Director Persec. I am still a novice if I compare myself to you. But I have already decided that I wish to choose the mask of the faker, it is a very useful object.

Director Persec moved his right hand in Mart’s direction, and the mask of the faker reached Mart’s hands, who smiled subtly because he did not wish to appear overly excited.

-Student Mart, I hope you are satisfied. Now, you must not forget that you still have some assignments to complete, the teachers agreed that after waking up they would give you one week to hand in the assignments. -said Principal Persec.

Mart wanted to sigh, but only nodded and a few minutes later left the study hall to go to the Academy cafeteria.

As he walked, Mart observed how there were practically no traces of the battles that took place, and how the students walked and talked as if nothing had happened.

"This level of adaptation is almost absurd. They seem to have become accustomed to this kind of situation. And I thought classes would be suspended for a while, but I’ve heard several students talking about final exams."

After Mart thought about the assignments, the exams and mainly the essay, he sighed as he arrived in front of the cafeteria.

"Sorry unicorn rabbits, but I’ll eat several steaks of your meat and some vegetables with Grised sauce," thought Mart who shortly after was intercepted by a student he knew well.

"Nirian’s follower. They say there were more male demon casualties, and this lucky guy survived two attacks. He’s either wasting his luck or was born very lucky," Mart thought wryly, and before the follower of Nirian spoke he said to him:

-Guide the way.

"Apparently I’ll get to try a slice of cake!" Mart thought as he walked down the halls to the Danteriar Gardens.
