Chapter 24 Siege

"Not only that, but she must also be responsible for our future living supplies."

Jiaojiao was skilled at stirring up emotions.

She had long experienced Su Ling's prowess and knew what the outside world was like.

At this critical juncture, the best course of action was to find a nimble tool to serve her needs.

Someone, upon hearing Jiaojiao's words, pushed through the crowd and quickly reached Su Ling's side.

Just as Su Ling was about to enter the last digit, a hulking man appeared, blocking Su Ling's view by stepping aside.

Su Ling took a step back, leaning against the car, and looked up slightly at the hulking man, who was nearly two meters tall and powerfully built.

During this brief moment, Jiaojiao and her group had already surrounded Su Ling, trapping her between people and cars.

The crowd threatened and coerced, giving Su Ling the impression that if she didn't hand over the supplies, they would beat her senseless and take them by force.

These people, incited by Jiaojiao, had personally witnessed zombies devouring humans, and those bitten subsequently turning into zombies. Coupled with Jiaojiao and Xu Yu's explanations, they now understood that the world had changed. The outside world was just like the gruesome scenes they had just witnessed, or perhaps even more dire and tragic.

The best approach now was to hoard supplies and survive in this world where order had collapsed.

Su Ling, as the culprit who lured the zombies to the villa area and shattered its peace and tranquility, had the obligation and responsibility to bear the consequences, to search for supplies for all the survivors, and to sustain them until government rescue arrived.

From within the crowd, some had already fixed their gaze on Su Ling's bulging backpack.

The hulking man, who had been blocking the villa's courtyard gate, looked at Su Ling and spoke, "You brought those monsters here, putting our families, loved ones, and neighbors in dire straits, even causing their deaths. You must take full responsibility for this."

Pointing to the bag on Su Ling's back, the hulking man continued, "Leave your things, and you continue to go out and search for more supplies."

"Otherwise—" he clenched his fist, his joints cracking loudly, "don't blame this brother if my fists don't recognize you, beating you so bruised and unrecognizable that even your parents wouldn't know you, begging on your knees."

"That's right, hand over the supplies and we'll spare your life."

"If you don't cooperate and hand over the supplies, we'll beat you to death or cripple you, and you'll pay with your life."

Relying on their numbers, Jiaojiao, Xu Yu, and others stared menacingly at Su Ling.

Su Ling still held an uncleaned Tang dao. She looked at the people before her, who were not distinguishing right from wrong, and her voice was chilling to the bone: "Move aside."

"Move aside?" Jiaojiao stepped forward, hands on her hips, her expression arrogant. "You've caused trouble, inflicted irreparable losses and harm on all of us. Do you think you can smooth things over and get us to let you go?"

"I advise you to be smart and obediently hand over the bag you're carrying, or you'll experience the fate of becoming food for zombies. I believe you don't want to turn into an ugly, mindless monster like them… Ah…"

Jiaojiao screamed before she could finish her sentence.

While she was chattering away, Su Ling had already placed the Tang dao, still stained with zombie brains, against her neck.

The metallic scent and the stench of blood assailed Jiaojiao's nostrils, making her stomach churn with nausea and her body tremble with fear.

The Tang dao exuded a chilling aura, and having killed many zombies and been splattered with blood, the hulking man and the others felt a twinge of apprehension upon seeing the situation.

With chaos erupting both inside and out, they also feared that if Su Ling became displeased, she might directly hack them down like zombies.

Seeing Jiaojiao with Su Ling's blade at her throat, Xu Yu immediately panicked and stepped forward, "Quickly let Jiaojiao go."

Su Ling cast a bloodthirsty glance, which made Xu Yu, a grown man, tremble.

Looking at the pale and terrified Jiaojiao, Su Ling's voice was icy: "Do you want your life, or the bag?"
