Chapter 418: Chapter 375 I Will Definitely Cure You
Mu Shuoqian hadn’t really fallen asleep. Realizing someone was watching him, he opened his eyes and met Gu Qili’s tender gaze, chuckling softly, "Have you been spying on me for a while?"
"Not at all, who cares about watching you," Gu Qili retorted, "Are you very tired?"
Ever since he returned from shooting the wedding photos abroad, he hadn’t rested, working late into the night every day.
"It’s okay, I’m used to it." Mu Shuoqian didn’t tell her that during the days she was absent, he numbed himself with work every day, immersing himself in the never-ending tasks to stop thinking about her.
In every night without her, he lay alone on the wide bed, suffering from insomnia all night long.
He took her hand and placed it near his mouth, giving it a light nibble, "Missed me?"
"I was actually planning to ask you out for a meal, but now I feel a bit tired. Let’s order takeout," Gu Qili said, her heart aching for him; she didn’t want to wear him out further.
"Sure, I’ll have Xiao Ran order some dishes from Xiangshan." Mu Shuoqian pressed the intercom to call Xiao Ran in, told him a few dishes to order, and then sent him off to make the call.
"Where did you go today?" Mu Shuoqian asked as he fiddled with her hand.
"I went to the old house. Mu Fan bought you a pillow," Gu Qili thought of her misunderstanding with Mu Qinian earlier that day, feeling a bit guilty, "It seems I still don’t understand Niannian well enough. I thought he was pestering Mu Fan for things, but he was actually worried about your insomnia."
Mu Shuoqian smiled, "That’s just how he is, cold on the outside but warm on the inside. He wants to be good to you, but always in silence."
Gu Qili stared at him for a while, her eyes brightening with a smile as she pictured the photo wall, "I wonder who he takes after."
Mu Shuoqian playfully nudged her nose, "Obviously, it’s from his mom."
Gu Qili didn’t argue, leaning on his shoulder.
"Why didn’t you go to the winery today?" Lately, she was working like a workaholic, practically living at the winery, and it was rare for her to have time to hang out here with him.
"Nothing much going on there." The doctor said she needs to rest now and shouldn’t overwork herself. Although she wanted to go to the winery, thinking of her health condition, she restrained herself from pushing it.
The previously pleasant atmosphere suddenly turned somewhat melancholic as she remembered those two words; she closed her mouth and said no more.
After less than an hour, Xiao Ran entered with the takeout boxes.
Mu Shuoqian ordered two dishes and a soup that Gu Qili liked. After serving her a bowl of soup, he went to answer the phone.
Gu Qili felt dull eating alone, so she picked up a magazine to read while waiting for him. Halfway through, her phone rang. In her hurry, she knocked the magazine into the bowl of soup, spilling it all over her clothes. Fortunately, the soup wasn’t very hot. She quickly stood up, ignoring her ringing phone in the bag, and rushed to the washroom.
Mu Shuoqian, returning from his call and not seeing Gu Qili on the sofa, noticed the mess on the floor and quickly went to the washroom door to ask, "What happened?"
"It’s nothing, just spilled soup on my clothes."
"Did it burn you?" Mu Shuoqian said, about to push the door.
"No, not at all, it’s not hot, I’ll just wash up." Gu Qili had already taken off her clothes soaked in soup. Seeing him about to come in, she hurriedly locked the door, not because she was bashful he would see anything, but because the smell of soup on her was really not pleasant.
Mu Shuoqian, hearing that she wasn’t burned, finally relaxed and returned to the coffee table, intending to find someone to clean up when he heard her phone still ringing. He crouched down, opened her bag, and fished for the phone, and accidentally pulled out a piece of paper along with it.
He didn’t pay attention at first, but upon seeing the hospital’s logo, he frowned.
The incessant ringing finally silenced, and Mu Shuoqian looked at the piece of paper. His calm face instantly turned pale. Thinking he was seeing things, he rubbed his eyes hard before continuing to read it clearly.
The diagnosis form had Gu Qili’s name, and the space below clearly read: Liver Cancer.
It felt like a thunderbolt had struck him on a clear day. Mu Shuoqian stood there, swaying, his fingertips trembling uncontrollably with the paper, and finally lost all strength to hold it, letting it gently float down from his hand.
Liver cancer? The diagnosis says she has liver cancer, is this a joke? How could this be possible? Her health has always been good; why would she suddenly have this disease?
