"Dad, Mom, where are we going?" Lu Ze'an asked, looking at Fu Wenwen and Lu Chengsen, as the road didn't seem to be heading home.
"You'll know when we get there," Fu Wenwen and Lu Chengsen exchanged a look, a knowing smile appearing on their lips.
Although curious, Lu Ze'an didn't ask further.
Upon arriving at a strange courtyard and seeing the familiar Zheng Qingguo and Zhang Guihua, Lu Ze'an's eyes lit up instantly.
"Grandpa Zheng, Grandma Zhang!!" As soon as Lu Chengsen set him down, Lu Ze'an rushed towards Zheng Qingguo in the courtyard.
"Oh my!"
"My darling."
"We've missed you so much."
Hearing Lu Ze'an's voice, Zheng Qingguo quickly turned around and scooped him into his arms. Holding the little boy, his eyes welled up with tears.
Zhang Guihua dropped the washed vegetables in her hand and eagerly rushed over.
Having not seen Lu Ze'an for a while, the elderly couple felt as though a piece of their hearts had been hollowed out; nothing tasted good.
"Grandpa, Grandma, An'an misses you so much!" Lu Ze'an hugged Zheng Qingguo and Zhang Guihua. Facing these two elders who treated him like their own grandson, Lu Ze'an had long considered them family.
"My dear grandson! You've made us miss you terribly," Zheng Qingguo carried Lu Ze'an inside. Kai Shu Ge
"You two can go now, An'an is staying," Zheng Qingguo waved at Fu Wenwen and Lu Chengsen, then turned to Lu Ze'an.
"Would my good boy like to play at Grandpa and Grandma's for a couple of days?"
"Okay," Lu Ze'an nodded in agreement, then remembered he had school the next day.
"But Grandpa, I have school tomorrow!"
"It's alright, your Grandpa and Grandma will take you tomorrow! Your parents have already told me, it's at Nanyang Primary School, right?" Zheng Qingguo chuckled.
"Mm."
Lu Ze'an waved his small hand at Fu Wenwen and Lu Chengsen.
"Mom, Dad, I'll play at Grandpa's for two days and then come home."
Before Fu Wenwen and Lu Chengsen could reply, Zheng Qingguo and Zhang Guihua had already entered the house with Lu Ze'an.
"Look, dear, Grandpa brought you your favorite puffed rice..."
"Look, Grandma knitted you two clothes, let's see if they fit later..."
Fu Wenwen and Lu Chengsen stood at the doorway, watching the elder couple carry Lu Ze'an inside, completely ignoring them.
"Will we be like this when we're old?" Fu Wenwen glanced at Lu Chengsen, asking curiously.
"Love me, love my dog; it's possible," Lu Chengsen chuckled softly, thinking he might indeed be like that.
"Let's go!" Fu Wenwen glanced back, hearing the occasional happy laughter of Zheng Qingguo and Zhang Guihua from inside.
Children were indeed the favorite of the elderly. With An'an's arrival, their smiles were genuine, and even ordinary things could make them happy.
After returning home, Fu Wenwen had Lu Chengsen drive them out of Jiangcheng to a forest outside the city.
Lu Chengsen parked the car under a tree. Fu Wenwen used her ability to hide the car, then took Lu Chengsen and headed towards Fengcheng.
Lu Chengsen felt the rapid speed, as if they were using a special lane. Driving would take several hours, but with Fu Wenwen's ability, they were faster than driving.
What would have taken several hours by car only took an hour to reach Fengcheng.
Standing on the familiar street, Lu Chengsen had to admit, this felt great.
Fu Wenwen led Lu Chengsen to the Lu family residence, intending to find Old Master Lu, but suddenly sensed something was amiss.
She stopped Lu Chengsen, who was about to enter, and pulled him into the shadows, concealing their presence.
"What's wrong?" Lu Chengsen asked Fu Wenwen.
"It's too quiet in the house," Fu Wenwen stated directly.
"I'll check the situation inside first."
"Then I'll scout the vicinity."
They parted ways. Fu Wenwen used her ability to probe the Lu family residence and discovered several new faces scattered throughout the house, while the Lu family members were nowhere to be seen.
Fu Wenwen recalled the information she had extracted: Auntie Wang's grandson was kidnapped.
Auntie Wang!
She searched the Lu residence for Auntie Wang and found her in Old Master Lu's study, attempting to open his safe.
Auntie Wang tried for a long time but couldn't open the safe. In the end, she had no choice but to place the documents into the locked desk.
Looking at the locked desk, Auntie Wang's heart ached, but her grandson was in their hands. If she didn't do as they said, her grandson would lose his life.
After serving the Lu family for so many years, the Lu family was her second home.
Now she faced such a choice, and ultimately chose her grandson's life.
Auntie Wang left the study, casting a deep look back at Old Master Lu's study.
Seeing Auntie Wang leave, Fu Wenwen immediately used her ability to generate vines, which climbed up the outer wall and entered Old Master Lu's window.
She reached into the locked drawer, disabled the lock, opened the cabinet, and retrieved the documents Auntie Wang had placed there.
Besides the documents Auntie Wang left, others had also hidden many things in various parts of the Lu residence. After seeing those people leave, Auntie Wang returned to her room to rest as usual.
Her heart was filled with anxiety and excitement.
Seeing them leave, Fu Wenwen connected the dots. Her vines instantly split into four or five strands, silently retrieving all the items hidden in the Lu residence.
Apart from the original belongings of the house, Fu Wenwen confirmed there were no other hidden items before retracting her ability.
When Lu Chengsen returned, he saw a pile of things on the ground, along with numerous documents.
"Grandpa and the others were invited to the Wei family banquet today. Wei Lan is going to marry Ma Wenchao," Lu Chengsen explained.
"Take a look at this document. This is the one Auntie Wang intended to place in Grandpa's study," Fu Wenwen picked out the most important document from the pile on the ground and handed it to Lu Chengsen.
Lu Chengsen opened the document and his expression immediately darkened.
"This is a contract with that... with the country that lives a good life. If what's written here is true, then Grandpa will undoubtedly be accused of treason," Lu Chengsen explained to Fu Wenwen, detailing the terms of the contract one by one.
After listening, Fu Wenwen also felt that this was no different from treason.
Stealing their country's core technology and selling it to outsiders, what else could they be called but traitors!
"This is clearly a setup. There's also Grandpa's signature, and it's a very convincing imitation," Lu Chengsen pointed to where Lu Wenbin's signature was written.
After examining it carefully, Lu Chengsen said to Fu Wenwen, "It's a good thing you retrieved it. Otherwise, with this document, and the signature on it that's indistinguishable from Grandpa's, Grandpa and the others would have no way to explain themselves."
"These documents were prepared long ago, and the imitation of Grandpa's signature is ninety percent accurate."
Lu Chengsen threw the document on the ground, intending to burn it, but Fu Wenwen quickly stopped him.
