Chapter 231: The world is finishing the final form of evolution
Ethan looked at the guy who had just spoken. He was the strongest among them.
Ethan smiled at him.
"It’s nice to meet you,Mr. Geralt.."
He didn’t pay attention to the rude behaviour of others. They were ant-like existences to him, crawling on the ground.
Would you pay attention to the sound of bugs?
Jonathon hurriedly stepped forward and said, "I again thank you on the behalf of the Kingdom and his Majesty. Now, if you don’t mind, please come with us right now. The border situation is not good and our last line of defence is crumbling. If that happens, there will be a massacre."
Geralt nodded and they also hopped onto their horses.
But Sam suddenly said, "I want to go in the royal carriage. What right does he have to stay in such a luxurious carriage while we ride horses? Are we his personal guards?"
Geralt’s eyes turned cold. "Sam, that’s enough. We don’t have time. Go to your horse."
Sam shouted, "But he is just a mortal. I don’t want him to look down on us. You don’t mind, right, king?"
Jonathon gripped the hilt of his sword; his hands were shaking. He was no match for these people, but he also couldn’t tolerate them insulting the king.
He would just die attacking him, but that was worth it.
He was about to unsheathe the sword when he heard Ethan’s voice.
If a bug were screeching in the far distance, you wouldn’t care, but if it bit you, you would crush it, right?
Ethan said, "You probably grew up in a beggar’s family; that’s why you need constant assurance that you are not inferior, right? I am so sorry that you had to grow up in such poor conditions, Sam."
Everyone’s eyes widened. They were not ready for this. They never thought their young king would mock an adventurer in front of them.
But the situation was not good, for Sam’s eyes were spitting magma.
He took out his sword and roared, "What did you say, you son of a bitch? Do you think you are very great because you are a king? You are just a mortal piece of trash. I didn’t want to do this, but now I am going to kill you and destroy your whole kingdom."
Then he looked at Geralt and asked, "You won’t mind, will you?"
Geralt sighed. The king was really inexperienced and immature. He had mocked an adventurer just because he felt insulted.
Geralt said, "Do whatever you want."
Sam’s eyes lit up and he dashed forward like lightning.
"Die, you bastard."
Jonathon had already drawn his sword and stepped in front of Ethan to protect him.
But his sword was just a normal weapon. How could he resist the sword of an adventurer, which was created from monster materials?
Jonathon’s sword split into two and Sam’s sword was just an inch away from cutting Jonathon in half.
At that moment, someone stepped forward and caught that sword between two fingers.
Everyone looked at the person who had just intervened.
It was a young guard from the royal army.
"A trash like you wants to attack the king and the general? Go back to your guild. We don’t need adventurers like you."
Everyone’s eyes grew big.
A mortal guard had just caught Sam’s sword with only two fingers.
Sam started sweating when he saw the cold look in the young man’s eyes.
He snorted and sheathed his sword.
"Please forgive me, your majesty. I spoke on behalf of yours. I didn’t want to interfere, but they just crossed the limit. So I had to intervene. Please don’t ask any questions."
The guard stepped back.
He became a hero instantly.
Ethan smiled. "That’s a new line of story. This young man is clearly very powerful, at least a tier 3 level. But why didn’t I sense that before? He has some treasures that could even block the sensing of a tier 14?."
It was amusing. "No problem. But you sent the adventurers away. Can you handle the situation at the border on your own?"
He asked calmly.
The young man was surprised to see how calm the king was. A normal person would have become excited, afraid, or anything other than calmness when they believed a hidden expert was in his army, but the king didn’t even bat an eyelid.
It was like it was no big deal.
The young man said, "Don’t worry, your majesty. I will handle everything. We should depart now."
The guards were so respectful toward the young man now.
Geralt and the others didn’t leave. He stepped forward and said, "Please forgive our rudeness. We would still like to complete the mission. You don’t have to give us anything in return."
Ethan smiled again. That man was quite intelligent. He was trying to poach this guard into the guild.
The young man didn’t reply and only looked at Ethan.
Ethan said, "Okay, you can stay, but as you said, you won’t get a single penny."
Sam clenched his fists again.
But Geralt stopped him with a wave of his hand.
"We accept."
"Okay, let’s depart then."
Ethan entered the carriage, but before that he gave a disdainful look at Sam.
The door of the carriage closed.
Sam wanted to burst into anger again but didn’t.
Ethan, however, after entering the carriage, looked inside his inner black hole.
The world tree, which had been given by the grand Supreme Odin, was showing signs of completion.
It had been absorbing energy this whole time. Normally, a world tree needed thousands of years just to become a sapling from a seed.
But the energy inside Ethan’s body was the purest and most infinite source of energy in creation.
So it didn’t take that much time and it had already turned into a world tree.
It was just lacking something to become a fully functional world tree.
And that little something was Ethan’s permission to function.
Because a world tree manages everything inside the inner world, it was like a manager, so it needed the permission of the owner to handle everything on its own.
The moment Ethan gave it permission, it would become a sentient being.
"Permission granted."
Boom! The world tree instantly started growing further. It was already a two-hundred-kilometre-tall tree, but now it was growing bigger again and soon surpassed one thousand kilometres and was still growing.
An infinite amount of energy was required for this step.
Normally, a supreme existence of above tier 20 would prepare enough energy sources to make the tree as large as possible, his own source wouldn’t be enough.
But until now, no one could make it bloom to its fullest potential.
As for tier 7 existences like Odin, they could only bloom it into a small tree of twenty metres at most. Not more than that.
The tree grew nonstop. Ethan wanted to see where this thing would stop.
Four more hours passed.
The carriage and the soldiers finally arrived at the border city, Delano.
"Your majesty, we have arrived. What are your orders?"
Jonathon opened the door and asked.
"Go and destroy the demons."
He looked especially toward the young man when he said this.
