Chapter 197: Tririri’s Satisfaction
Lingluo leapt back as the dragon bellowed, the sound rolling across the battlefield like thunder tearing through bone. Yu Xuan too retreated, grimacing as the roar was heard in his ears.
The dragon’s burning red eyes fixed on him with murderous hate.
Its massive frame lifted, the upper body rising into the air while the lower half, which Yu Xuan had cleaved apart, writhed unnaturally. Crimson threads of blood stretched outward, latching onto the severed flesh.
Yu Xuan struck with his sword, but his blade only carved through liquid gore before it reformed.
The blood poured back into the dragon’s body, its own spilled essence greedily reclaimed. With a wet, sickening sound, the sundered halves fused again.
Yu Xuan’s eyes narrowed.
"Is it... immortal?" he muttered.
But then he noticed: the ground was still slick with leftover blood, blood the dragon hadn’t absorbed. Its movements were slightly sluggish, its aura just a little dimmer.
Not immortal. Just stubborn. And weakened.
He wiped blood from the corner of his lips, coughing lightly. The backlash from the Third Form still seared through his body, each breath heavier than the last. But his body was resilient enough to bear the strain.
The dragon’s four bloody wings beat once, conjuring spears of congealed blood. They rained down on Yu Xuan and Lingluo like a crimson storm. The siblings retreated, weaving between the deadly projectiles, preparing their counter.
From the corner of his golden gaze, Yu Xuan noticed the distant blood pillars, their light pulsing stronger now, resonating with the dragon’s fury.
’A ritual? A seal? Whatever it is, the longer this fight drags on, the worse it will get.’ he thought.
He surged forward again, [Ultra Instinct] guiding his every step. His spirit sense mapped the battlefield perfectly, every shift in wind, every twitch of Qi. His [Immortal’s Gaze] locked onto the dragon’s weak points, reading even the faintest change in its movements.
He glanced at Lingluo, she was preparing to charge again — but then her hand flicked up in a sharp signal.
Fall back.
Yu Xuan’s brows furrowed. Then he noticed.
On her head, Tririri looked swollen, its cheeks puffed out like a water-filled balloon. The little slime trembled, opened its tiny mouth—
—and unleashed a condensed beam of raw energy.
The dragon snarled, crossing its colossal wings to block, but the blast still tore through. One wing shredded apart, chunks of blood and scale raining down.
The dragon flailed in the air before slamming down with its four legs, intentionally.
BOOOOM!
The ground quaked violently, a miniature earthquake shattering the battlefield. Rocks heaved upward and crashed down in showers of debris. Dust clouds billowed, swallowing the siblings.
Lingluo skipped back nimbly, her hair snapping like a violet flame in the chaos. On her head, Tririri wobbled with a smug expression, as if it had just released the most satisfying dump of its life.
Yu Xuan darted forward, his footing steady even on the torn and quaking earth. His sword gleamed in his grip, his golden eyes locked on the dragon’s head. The massive beast lowered its gaze, those slitted scarlet pupils burning with primal fury as they fixed on him.
What are you staring at, insect?!
The voice boomed inside his mind, venomous and oppressive.
Yu Xuan’s didn’t like it. He hated the contempt in its tone. Without hesitation, his eyes lit up, golden-red beams igniting like suns.
[Immortal’s Gaze – Annihilation].
A lance of pure destruction shot from his gaze, ripping into the dragon’s left eye. The beast thrashed its head, trying to resist, but it was futile, the beam melted through the surface, flesh and burning into the eyeball.
Yu Xuan didn’t waste the opportunity. With a flick of his will, a broken spear lifted from the ground by his [Telekinesis]. Qi surged through it, coating the jagged weapon. He hurled it like a javelin straight into the weakened eye.
SPLUTTER!
The spear sank in deep, burying itself in the ruined socket. The dragon’s roar of agony split the heavens, shaking the battlefield.
Lingluo was already there, striking from below. Chaos Qi wrapped around her fingers, forming claws of pure destructive power. With a fierce snarl, she slashed across the dragon’s wing. Flesh, blood, and scale tore apart beneath her strike.
Another thunderous roar. The dragon flailed violently, its four massive legs slamming down in retaliation.
BOOOOM!
The shockwave blasted Lingluo backward, her body whipping through the air. She managed to land with her shield raised, but the force left her coughing.
Yu Xuan leapt toward the dragon’s head, intending to finish it — when the ground betrayed him.
The blood pooled beneath him stirred like a living thing. It shot upward in a sudden spike, piercing through his thigh.
"—Tch!" Yu Xuan hissed, pain flashing through him as hot blood streamed down his leg.
His face turned dark so did his eyes for a few microseconds, but then they returned to its normal color golden as he was using [Immortal’s Gaze].
He exhaled once, steadying himself. His body swayed, but then he closed his eyes, drawing everything inward. The battlefield faded from color, replaced with black and white. Only one point glowed scarlet: the dragon’s towering leg.
He wanted to cut off it’s head but the dragon was rising upward.
[Magic Swordsmanship of the Avalon Imperial Family]
Third Form — Formless Infinite Sword Slashes.
The sword in his hand blazed with murderous intent. A storm of red arcs erupted, countless slashes forming from nothing, all converging in the same direction.
SHHHHHK—SHRRRKKKK!
The dragon’s right foreleg was torn asunder, scale shredded under the endless attack.
This time, Yu Xuan gave it no chance to recover. With a sharp wave of his hand, every nearby spear shot into the air, some intact, others broken and jagged. Their blades shimmered with silvery brilliance.
One by one, they ignited. At each spear’s tip, a miniature star flared to life, radiant and unstable, condensing a terrifying power.
In the blink of an eye, the spears plunged toward the dragon’s mangled limb.
And.
BOOOOOM—!
