Chapter 930: Chapter 928: I JUST WANT THE BEST FOR THOSE I CARE ABOUT
The more she listened, the more her eyes reddened and became teary.
How could Diamond not know that by doing what she was doing, she might be portrayed as a villain?
Was it really worth it for her to do that?
Unfortunately, she couldn’t say a single word and simply watched and listened as her sister spoke, while Waylon listened.
"I just want the best for my family and those I care about. Because I care for Ruby and want to see her happy in the future, I am doing this even if it means attracting hate. But do I really care? Not really. If pointing out what I find bad makes me a villain, then I will become the godmother of villains.
The same is true when I am speaking to you. Perhaps I have been hurt too much in the past, that’s why I am like this. But just know that I mean well," she couldn’t help but sigh, knowing that she might have gone overboard again.
When she opens her mouth, she can’t really stop herself. Her professor’s mode always goes online.
Waylon, to be honest, wasn’t really hurt by her words. He asked for it. In fact, he was just feeling suffocated. He had never listened to such a talk before, and listening to some sensitive topic getting pointed out made him feel small but the more he listened the more he started accepting that she just meant well.
It was better to feel discomfort now while learning what she really likes and expects from him than to have disputes in the future simply because he didn’t give her what she wanted.
It wasn’t like her expectations for him or anyone else were very high. It’s just that as a man being suddenly told that brought discomfort, but he remained thankful.
If she could do this to him, it meant that she truly cared. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have said a single thing to him. So rather than resentment, he felt very grateful.
He didn’t know what to say to her since he was overwhelmed. So, he simply pulled her in for a hug and embraced her tightly without saying a single word.
Ruby watched that with complicated emotions and couldn’t help but silently alight from the car lest she disrupt this moment. She didn’t want to be a light bulb.
Unfortunately, nothing happened to the two of such caliber she expected, but Waylon smiled at Diamond and emotionally confessed, "I love you. Always remember that!"
Diamond exhaled a sigh of relief inwardly as she smiled back at him, "Yes, I know! I like you too," and didn’t respond with the ’I love you,’ but he was happy either way.
After all, being able to hear those words was already a blessing to him.
"I will become a better man for you. I will not let you down!"
She beamed at him as she pinched his cheeks playfully and responded, "I will keep an eye on you. And always remember that I am proud of you. I will always root for you."
He smiled with relief, listening to her say that. He felt the suffocating feeling vanish seeing her smiling at him like that.
He hugged her again before reluctantly parting, thinking about how late she would reach home if he continued to keep her here.
So, after a few more words of comfort and sweet talking, he reluctantly alighted from the car without any signs of depression. There was a smile on his face.
"Waylon, a moment please!"
The door closed, and before he could walk away, he heard Ruby calling him.
He stopped in his tracks and looked at her, wondering what she wanted. Nonetheless, he waited for her.
Ruby trotted to his side and stood next to him. With her fists clenched, she looked at Waylon and said determinedly, "Waylon, since you love my sister, then treat her well. Also, don’t be offended by what she just said. She doesn’t mean anything bad. Like she said, she was hurt before. Her previous ex-boyfriends were worse than that bastard she met at school. The previous ones almost had the whole family killed because of their greed. I hope that you will not end the same as them," and in a cold tone at the end, she finished her words before she returned to the car without giving him a chance to respond.
Waylon was in a daze as he digested what he had just heard, and before he knew it, the car was already gone, and his friends were nudging him.
"Man, what happened?"
"Lon, come back to your senses!"
Feeling worried that the Perry sisters might have done something to put him in such a state, Luke and Sean were quite anxious.
That jolting brought Waylon back to his senses, but Ruby’s words still lingered in his mind, "they nearly had the whole family killed," Just what exactly is going on?
His temples started throbbing at the thought of what Diamond and her family must have gone through during that time.
He didn’t care about what made those men greedy, but the fact that her own lovers would have such thoughts and even think about murder. How could they be so .... No wonder why she was like this.
The blame wasn’t on her, but those scumbags.
If he ever knew who they are, he would use his family’s ..... no, he should build his own, right?
Suddenly, he started to understand why she was so adamant about letting them build their own careers.
When facing such situations, they were completely useless and couldn’t do anything to help their loved ones.
Did he want to remain like that forever?
What if something happens to his family? Then what about him?
Suddenly, her admonishing words no longer felt suffocating. Instead, his eyes lit up as he looked at Sean and Luke.
It seems that making his friends suffer by sharing these words and letting them have insomnia digesting everything would do everyone good.
He would also add Ian on a video call and let him suffer as well.
This was a great wake-up call.
With that enthusiasm fueling him, a smile blossomed on his face as he patted his friends’ shoulders.
"I am doing perfectly fine. How about we head over to the club for some drinks? I think that we will definitely need it!"
Without giving his friends a moment to think, Waylon enthusiastically dragged his friends to the parking lot.
It wasn’t like they had anything else to do at the Mainley mansion. So, their departure didn’t garner much attention, but in a certain corner, a pair of red eyes sinisterly glared at the three young men before vanishing as if they were never there.
