Chapter 818: Relaxing with the Realm

Chapter 818: Relaxing with the Realm

Shane carefully stored the world tree’s leaves within his inventory as if he were afraid that they could be taken back.

After all, the leaves even seemed a lot better compared to what he had obtained before.

’This is awesome...’ Shane thought as he already knew that he’d be able to make incredible potions or medicines with these leaves...

Then, from the base of the tree, several root shards pushed their way free from the soil.

They were all small, no larger than Shane’s forearm, but as expected, they radiated incredible mana density.

[ You have obtained: World Root Fragment (x12) ]

[ Item Effect: Can be refined into high-tier potions, used in forging, or serves as a mana catalyst. ]

At this time, it was Axis who got more excited. It was something that Shane failed to obtain before, and it seemed a lot more precious.

"That’s... that’s really rare. The World Tree never gives its root fragments lightly." Axis said.

"You can use those roots to grow your World Tree faster." She added after seeing Shane’s confused look.

Indeed, Shane’s eyes lit up the moment he realized its hidden purpose.

Since he could use it to grow his small world tree... or plant, then he’d definitely used it for that purpose alone.

After all, it would take not just a dozen years but most likely hundreds of years to make it grow to a true World Tree. It was all because of the world’s compatibility with mana.

There was no way he’d be able to wait that long.

Shane bowed once more. "Thank you. I’ll make sure these are not wasted."

For a moment, he thought the exchange was over, but then, one of the branches overhead shuddered.

Soon, a dozen tiny fruits, golden and sparkling, detached and floated down toward him. Shane caught it carefully, feeling its immense energy ripple through his body.

[ You have obtained: Fruit of Renewal (x12) ]

[ Item Effect: Restores stamina, removes all fatigue, and strengthens constitution permanently. ]

Shane studied the fruit for a long moment.

This was something he couldn’t simply eat casually. It was too precious.

"This is amazing~"

Axis fluttered to his side. There was a hint of pride and envy as she spoke.

"The World Tree... it really favors you. I’ve never seen it give so much precious items to a human..."

Shane then stored the fruit safely away before patting Axis’s head.

"It’s not favoritism... Maybe it’s trust and responsibility. I’ll carry it properly."

The World Tree’s branches swayed gently once more, as if acknowledging his words.

With the World Tree’s gifts safely stored in his inventory, Shane felt a lot more relaxed...

He still had plenty of time before the title’s effect wore off. He had about eight hours, and only a fraction had passed. It would be foolish to waste the opportunity.

First, he glanced around the lakeside.

The nearby grove of trees looked sturdy. The trunks were tall and straight. With a thought, he pulled something out from his inventory.

"Whirrr~"

Just like that, the chainsaw was activated and its cutters started spinning...

Axis jumped in surprise, her tiny hands covering her ears. "What in the world is that noisy thing?!"

"A tool..." Shane replied with a grin. "Makes cutting trees a lot faster."

With his current stats as a Level 80 Survivor, the task was almost effortless. He could probably use his sword to do this task, but the chainsaw’s precision would be a lot easier for him.

Soon, the chainsaw bit through each trunk in seconds...

Well, he could really just cut the trees around as long as he wasn’t aiming for the World Tree...

Whiirrr~

As he continued, the scent of fresh wood filled the air. One by one, the trees toppled neatly, and Shane worked immediately...

He started with sawing, trimming, and hauling the lumber closer to the lakeside.

Axis just hovered nearby as she already guessed what Shane wanted to happen.

"Whoa~ You cut faster than even the Sprites, and they’ve been doing this forever."

Shane only chuckled as he stacked the cut timber. "Efficiency is survival. Besides, this is nothing compared to the work waiting for me outside."

Within an hour, he had assembled a simple but sturdy warehouse beside the lake...

It was larger than the one Axis had been using for some time now.

It wasn’t elegant like elven architecture, but it was practical. It had thick beams, insulated with layered planks, and divided into sections for food, crystals, and miscellaneous supplies.

When he finally wiped the sweat from his brow, Shane took a step back and admired the work.

"That should do. Plenty of space for the next haul."

Axis landed on his shoulder as she also appreciated the new warehouse she could use.

"You built that so fast..."

Shane shrugged. "I can’t waste time..."

Still, he wasn’t ready to rush into more labor. The peaceful aura of the Fairy Realm was just too enticing, so he decided to let himself enjoy it for once.

He returned to the lake, pulled out a simple fishing rod from his inventory, and cast the line into the crystalline waters.

For the next two hours, Shane fished quietly. He collected as many fish as he could.

The Silver Fish easily darted toward the bait quickly... Aside from that, he also caught several Misty Koi after changing his bait.

’Ahhh... I want to eat them now...’ Shane thought as he caught a lot of Emberfin Catfish. They were actually a bit too tricky to deal with, so he had to use his Telekinesis to take them out.

However, he got too unrestrained and caught quite a lot of them in the process.

Still, each catch went into some wooden baskets at his side... He planned to give them to Anna and others once he was back...

"Catch that one! Hurry... That tastes good!"

During this time, Axis occasionally fluttered close, commenting on which fish tasted better roasted, grilled, or stewed, though Shane only half-listened.

For the first time in the past few days, he was able to relax. He knew very well that once he left this place, he would have to be ready to deal with the Vampire Lord.

So, for now, he wanted to relax as much as possible.
