Chapter 533: Chapter 34 Declaration of War_3
She was so focused, so serious, merely talking about the trivialities of daily life, yet it sounded like she was discussing matters of great importance. The girl spoke confidently and spiritedly, not showing a hint of embarrassment or confusion.
“I know Gongsun Ce to be the best person in this city,” she declared, looking into the eyes of the young man. “Better than Aorus, better than Budman, better than the president of the Mutual Assistance Association, better than everyone in the city of the firmament!”
Qin Qianbai let go, turned around boldly, and walked towards the door.
“I cannot tolerate someone slandering you, I don’t want to see the city dominated by the hypocritical Aorus. If you are tired, rest inside, and I will handle these problems,” she said calmly. “I will take them all down.”
“I’m sorry for breaking your door.”
The doll-like girl left; she did what she said, truly didn’t try to persuade further. She had spoken her mind, now she was off to do what she had set out to do.
She was always so straightforward, never beating around the bush. When she said she didn’t like something, she meant it; when she said she would take someone down, she really meant to bring those people down.
When she said she thought you were good, she truly meant it.
Gongsun Ce sat silently on his bed, staring at the damaged wooden door.
He found this world ridiculously funny. Why did people always ramble in front of him?
“What do you mean you think I’m better than everyone? Do you understand my past? Do you know what a real Superpower User is like? How can you arrogantly judge based on your less than two weeks of experience and still believe your judgment is so incredible, so exceptional? You’ve been a naive young lady for so many years, do you really think you’ve become savvy enough to see through things just by learning a bit of common sense here?”
But he couldn’t voice these thoughts. The girl’s serious and confident speech had silenced any rebuttal. Her conviction overcame reason.
Gongsun Ce felt his life was like a drama in which he was just a supporting actor, tasked with brightening up the scene, making jokes, while the spotlight always belonged to someone else. This play had been long, and his co-stars, the main characters, had left. He was left alone on the stage performing a monologue, feeling crude and awkward, ready to exit under the laughter of others.
But there was a girl who had just entered the theater during this time, sitting in the audience watching his performance. Having seen few remarkable plays, she found his mediocre one-man show outstanding, the best she had ever seen.
Gongsun Ce was tired, weary, dispirited, and deemed himself incompetent.
But the girl didn’t see it that way.
She truly believed in this young man.
Believed that he was stronger than everyone else.
Gongsun Ce clenched his fists. His heart pounded intensely within his chest, the beats strong like the drums of war.
It was as if a flame was burning inside his heart, turning his blood into scorching magma, flowing through his youthful veins. It seemed an invisible shackle had been broken, and the rushing emotions turned into strength, propelling him to stand up, the force gathering in his eyes, igniting them with passion once more!
·
Qin Qianbai ran out of the house, ready to charge. She mentally apologized, planning to fix his door later.
But then, she found herself immobilized, an invisible force locking her in place. Surprised, the girl turned around and saw that the lights inside the house were off, and from the darkness came the young man’s voice, nonchalant as usual yet steady enough to reassure her.
“Wait for me to change clothes.”
She obediently stood in place.
It only took a minute before his silhouette appeared by the door. Qin Qianbai held her breath, having never seen the young man look this way before.
Stepping out of the darkness, the young man was dressed in a black tight suit, draped in a black and red double-sided cloak, his boots making a solid sound with each step, his gloves shiny black, like a general advancing to his battlefield.
Gongsun Ce held a wide-brimmed hat in his hand, placing it on his head and smiling at the girl.
“Let’s go, I’ll introduce you to a friend, then we’ll get going.”
“What are we doing?” the girl asked instinctively.
Gongsun Ce took her, flying out of the building, soaring into the rain-drenched city. Endless raindrops slid by them, his power gathering them together to form a path floating in the air.
This path formed with each step they took, endlessly extending ahead, leading them towards the battlefield.
“We’re going to take down the Wing of Death, the Mutual Assistance Association, the Light Core, the men in white coats, the official minions, all the enemies standing in our way.”
Gongsun Ce’s cloak fluttered in the air, his tone light as he held the girl’s hand.
“Take down the entire city of the firmament.”
