Chapter 532: Chapter 34 Declaration of War_2

Gongsun Ce felt as if he could grasp that star.

There was no longer any meaning to his existence here. Maybe he should also abandon some of the commitments that no longer mattered… No need to continue grotesquely, awkwardly, surviving in this beautiful world…

Gongsun Ce reached out his hand, toward the dazzling star.

He couldn’t touch the star; his fingertips had just stretched out when an explosive boom filled his ears!

The sound was domineering, rough, resolute, carrying an unbearable singularity. Moist air, along with the evening’s chilly wind, rushed in; flying wood chips disrupted the starry vision, and brilliant light swept away all the grey!

Stunned, Gongsun Ce reached out his hand, failing to comprehend what had just happened. He turned his head and saw the broken wooden door on the ground, the room in disarray, and pure white light illuminating the girl’s face.

She was still dressed in pure white clothes, a hoodie and long trousers. Transparent ice crystals rolled off her clothing, melting into small puddles on the floor. The girl’s face was still expressionless, no trace of life in it, only her eyes lively as they looked at him.

“I have urgent matters. There was no response when I knocked, so I broke down the door.”

“Oh.”

Dumbly, Gongsun Ce nodded. He could only nod; his frozen brain wasn’t able to comprehend everything that was happening. Qin Qianbai stepped forward, and without a word, pulled him up from the bed.

“Aorus Otimis has joined forces with other organizations. He has pinned all the murder charges on your head, wanting to eliminate rivals and seize the opportunity to ascend,” Qin Qianbai dragged him toward the door, “We’re going to take him down.”

Qin Qianbai said it so nonchalantly, as though they were going out to beat up a street thug, not one of the city’s most powerful figures.

She pulled her neighbor a few steps, feeling a familiar resistance. Gongsun Ce stood his ground, breaking free from her grasp.

“I’m not going.”

“Stop the nonsense and let’s go.” Qin Qianbai tried to grab him again.

Gongsun Ce vigorously shook off her hand.

“I’m not going,” he said firmly, “Is it Kardesia or the doctor who told you? Tell them to leave it alone. I don’t want to be involved. Whatever. It’s none of my business.”

Qin Qianbai looked at him in surprise.

“You’re being framed, Gongsun Ce.”

“I said I don’t care!” the grey-haired youth said angrily, “I don’t want to deal with this. Let them do what they want!!”

“Aorus Otimis is a sanctimonious hypocrite! How can you just watch him do as he pleases—”

“What do you want me to do?!” Gongsun Ce roared, “Do you want me to stand out front, play the clown under their disdainful ridicule?! I’ve had enough! That’s not something I should do!”

In Qin Qianbai’s eyes, he saw a trace of disappointment which angered Gongsun Ce even more. What right do you have to be disappointed?! What right do you have to expect anything from me?! Who do you think I am, the Invincible Hero that saves the distressed?! I’m just a clown who can’t even control his own power!

“You’re not a clown…”

“Don’t be so arrogant anymore, Qin Qianbai! Put away your princess attitude!”

He could no longer control himself; anger and self-loathing transformed into sharp and cutting words, injurious like a double-edged sword.

“You never understood me, you don’t know my past, you don’t understand this city! You presumptuously act on your superficial understanding, doing what you think is right! Who do you think you are?!”

Gongsun Ce pointed at the shattered door, his howls hysterical, “You even barge into my house, breaking my door! Did I ever teach you that?! Enough, I’ve had too much!!”

He didn’t look into the girl’s eyes, he didn’t dare to look at her face. Gongsun Ce sat back down on the bed, lowering his head, bitterly mocking himself.

“Now you get it, huh? I’ve never been some impressive character, just a punk that puts on a show in front of newcomers. Once my sore spot is poked, I throw a tantrum like this, stupid and cowardly.”

“I’ve always been a clown.” He gave a wretched, grim smile, closed his eyes, “The clown is really tired; the clown doesn’t want to play anymore. I beg you, leave the clown alone.”

Even the new girl could see his true nature now, how ridiculous. The saying ‘more trouble than worth’ must have been tailor-made for him, right?

Gongsun Ce hung his head in dejection. He wanted to die; he had enough; he no longer had the face to say anything in front of this girl.

He wanted to lie down, to rest, to sleep. But a pair of hands were placed on his shoulders. Those hands forcefully pulled him up from the bed, gripping his muscles tightly enough to make him open his eyes from the pain.

Qin Qianbai stood before him, as close as when they first met. This time the girl’s eyes showed no anger. She was just seriously explaining, word by word.

“You’re right. I don’t know your past, I can only see the you now.”

“The Gongsun Ce I know is witty, strong, and kind. He speaks harsh words to help me out of trouble, uses smart methods to solve problems. His strength is so great that even I cannot defeat him, he can find the real murderer, he can stop vicious enemies, he teaches me how to control Superpower, introduces me to new friends. He treats me to meals, takes me to watch animations, teaches me the common knowledge that normal people should have, helps me to get to know this strange city. He has done so much for me, yet he never flaunts his favor!”
