Chapter 1711: Chapter 843: Audience with the Emperor
"We...we’re saved?" Uncle Mo Han asked with disbelief, pinching his own arm. Feeling the pain, he was finally convinced he wasn’t dreaming, "Did we really escape?"
"It seems so." Mo Han said, his heart filled with relief after the narrow escape, "But we don’t know what this place is, we must be careful."
"No matter what this place is, let’s see if we can find an exit and leave here first." Uncle Mo Han said, not wanting to experience being trapped in a desperate situation again.
"Okay." Mo Han nodded, also eager to leave this unfamiliar place as soon as possible.
The two began to explore this strange environment, walking cautiously, every step filled with vigilance.
They discovered that this place resembled a vast palace, with magnificent golden decorations, exquisite carvings, and luxurious ornaments, looking incredibly imposing, with every detail exuding opulence and nobility.
"This...this seems like an Imperial Palace." Mo Han guessed, looking at the surroundings, "Could we have arrived at a palace of some country?"
"Imperial Palace?" Uncle Mo Han was taken aback, observing the architectural style around them carefully, "Which Imperial Palace?"
"I don’t know." Mo Han shook his head, "But it looks very much like an Imperial Palace, and a very large one at that."
"Could we be in danger?" Uncle Mo Han asked anxiously, "Could this be the lair of the Blood Ghost Sect?"
"I don’t know." Mo Han said, feeling a bit uneasy himself, "Anyway, we should be cautious, as this is not a place we are familiar with."
They carefully explored the palace, walking as if on thin ice, fearing to alarm anyone.
Suddenly, a sound of orderly footsteps came from afar, attracting the attention of both of them.
"Someone’s coming!" Uncle Mo Han’s face changed, "Let’s hide quickly and see who it is!"
The two promptly hid behind a giant pillar, secretly observing the outside while their hearts were in their throats.
They saw a group of armored soldiers approaching from afar, holding long spears, with swords at their waists, each looking vigorous and imposing, seemingly well-trained.
"Who...who are these people?" Uncle Mo Han whispered anxiously from behind the pillar, his voice filled with tension and unease, "Could they...could they be from the Blood Ghost Sect?"
"I don’t know." Mo Han shook his head, closely observing the soldiers’ attire and weapons, "But they don’t look like members of the Blood Ghost Sect. The Blood Ghost Sect doesn’t have such a formal army."
"Then who are they?" Uncle Mo Han pressed on, filled with curiosity, "Are they the guards of this palace?"
"I don’t know." Mo Han said, equally curious, "But, we could ask them. Maybe they know where this place is."
"Ask them?" Uncle Mo Han was startled, his eyes widening, "How do we ask? Wouldn’t it be too dangerous to go out rashly like this?"
"When they come closer, we can go out and ask them." Mo Han said, having made up his mind, "We can’t just hide here like mice, knowing nothing."
"Isn’t that too dangerous?" Uncle Mo Han was still hesitant, "What if they are bad people? What if they mean us harm?"
"That would be better than wandering aimlessly here. We can’t keep hiding like turtles with their heads in their shells." Mo Han said firmly, "We must find out what this place is so we can think of a way to leave."
"But..." Uncle Mo Han wanted to say more but was interrupted by Mo Han.
"No more buts, it’s decided, trust me." Mo Han said, with confidence in his eyes, "Once they get close, we’ll go out and act accordingly."
Uncle Mo Han, reluctantly nodded, knowing that Mo Han wouldn’t easily change his decision.
The two continued to hide behind the pillar, holding their breath, waiting for the soldiers to arrive, feeling both nervous and expectant.
Soon, the soldiers reached near the pillar, their orderly footsteps echoing in the vast palace.
Mo Han and Uncle Mo Han exchanged a glance, then took a deep breath and stepped out from behind the pillar, as if taking a leap of faith.
"Stop!" Mo Han shouted loudly, his voice echoed in the spacious palace, sounding exceptionally loud.
The soldiers, hearing the voice, immediately halted and turned uniformly to look at Mo Han and Uncle Mo Han, their eyes filled with vigilance, and their long spears pointed at them.
"Who are you?" asked a soldier, who looked like a captain. His voice was loud and authoritative, "Why have you trespassed into the forbidden area of the Imperial Palace?"
"We are..." Mo Han was about to reveal his identity but was quickly interrupted by Uncle Mo Han.
"We are lost travelers who accidentally wandered in here." Uncle Mo Han thought quickly and lied, "We mean no offense, may I ask, what place is this? How do we leave?"
The soldiers exchanged glances, a hint of confusion flashing in their eyes, then the captain said: "This is the Imperial Palace of the Tianyuan Empire."
"Tianyuan Empire?"
Mo Han and Uncle Mo Han looked at each other, bewildered. The name was as foreign to them as if it were a script from heaven, never heard of in any ancient tome or rumor.
Uncle Mo Han’s Adam’s apple bobbed, his voice carrying a slight, almost imperceptible tremor, "Have we... arrived at a place we’ve never heard of?"
