Chapter 920: 918: When Something Unusual Happens

Chapter 920: Chapter 918: When Something Unusual Happens

A moment passed, and under the attack from Richard and the other two, less than half of the Demonized Black Snakes remained, making them feel a crisis of death.

“Hiss hiss~~”

A hissing sound rang out again, and the Demonized Black Snakes collectively unleashed numerous Wind Blades to force back Richard and the others, darting toward the center and coiling together, entwining with one another. Their bodies secreted a transparent mucus, sticking them together as if they were preparing for a fusion.

Then… one second, two seconds, three seconds…

After three seconds, seeing the many Demonized Black Snakes still entwining, Bobbobovic was silent for a moment and couldn’t help but speak: “Well… I finally get it. These snakes seem to be preparing to temporarily form an enormously large snake using some kind of special Transformation Magic, unleashing stronger combat power to defeat and kill us.

But then again, this process is too slow, isn’t it? It seems like it can’t be done in a few minutes. Who has the patience to wait for them?”

“So, we won’t wait,” Richard said, not wasting any words, as he gestured to form several Langdonick’s Spears and was about to attack the coiled Demonized Black Snakes.

“Wait, wait!” Bobbobovic suddenly stopped Richard, pulling out a potion bottle with a pale red liquid that looked like strawberry juice from his pocket, saying, “Let me do it! I haven’t used my treasured new potion yet, so this is a good opportunity to test its effects.

Didn’t you say before that you would give me the mission points for this time? I’ve gained such a big advantage, so I should contribute a bit more.”

After hearing this, Richard glanced at Bobbobovic and did not refuse, saying, “Alright then.”

With consent, Bobbobovic showed a satisfied expression, uncorked the potion, and brought it to his mouth.

Before his lips could touch the potion, a surprised shout rang out from beside him.

“Ah!”

Bobbobovic turned his head and saw Heluo’s left hand suddenly extending, propelling Heluo herself forward.

In the next moment, Heluo leaped high into the air, and with a wave of her left hand, the area within a hundred meters was dyed a deep crimson red.

Then Heluo descended toward the coiled Demonized Black Snakes, which sensed the danger and all lunged at Heluo, spitting out Wind Blades.

Heluo flashed and shifted to the side of the Demonized Black Snakes.

Before the Demonized Black Snakes could react, Heluo flashed again, appearing behind them.

On the third flash, she appeared on another side of the Demonized Black Snakes.

Richard noticed that Heluo’s left hand’s fingertips were pulling a fine red line, slowly wrapping around the coiled Demonized Black Snakes.

Heluo’s body continued to flash, her speed getting faster and faster, until there seemed to be more than ten Heluos appearing and disappearing simultaneously.

Finally, Heluo materialized above the Demonized Black Snakes, a dense net already ensnaring all of them.

Heluo pulled on the red line with her left hand and yanked hard, causing a dazzling bloody glow to erupt.

The slender red line, like a laser cutting through everything, sliced into the half-formed giant black snake’s body.

“Hullah!”

The giant black snake was shattered, and numerous chunks of flesh covered the ground. Almost all the Demonized Black Snakes that made up the giant snake were dead. Only a few that hadn’t fully fused emerged from the flesh, angrily attacking Heluo.

As expected, these Demonized Black Snakes were all slain one by one by Heluo with her Energy Whip after their bodies were shattered.

The scene fell silent as Heluo walked back.

Bobbobovic looked at Heluo, his expression stiff as he bent down to pick up the discarded cork, wiped it, resealed the potion bottle, and tucked it back into his pocket.

At this moment, Heluo apologized, “Wizard Vici, I’m really sorry. It wasn’t my intention to act, but you know, my hand is a bit out of control.”

“I don’t believe it, I don’t believe it, you did it on purpose!” Bobbobovic shouted in his heart, but said nothing aloud, quickly stepping back to maintain a safe distance from Heluo, afraid she’d strike again—he still remembered vividly the slap from before.

Seeing Bobbobovic’s reaction, Heluo gave a helpless smile. The same thing had happened so many times that she had become accustomed to being misunderstood.

Not pressing for an explanation, she turned her head to look at the dead Demonized Black Snakes at the scene, then at Richard, and said, “Wizard Richard, have we resolved the Silent Forest issue now?”

“According to previous calculations, it’s resolved,” Richard said, then dragged his voice, “But…”

“But what?” Heluo asked.

“But I suddenly discovered a few doubts that I can’t explain,” Richard said, frowning.

“Doubts? What doubts?” Heluo asked curiously, “Isn’t everything clear now?

According to the description from the third exploration team’s only surviving member, he indeed encountered attacks from strong Wind Magic, which is why he was injured. Now we’ve killed many Demonized Black Snakes proficient in Wind Magic, haven’t we resolved the forest’s culprit?

Did we do something wrong? Or, Wizard Richard, can you tell me what the doubts are?”

“Never mind,” Richard shook his head and chuckled, “Maybe I’m just overly sensitive. Let’s clean up the scene, scout around, and leave this place.”

“Alright,” Heluo nodded.

Afterwards, the three quickly handled the corpses of the numerous Demonized Black Snakes, taking rare materials and using Earth Magic to bury the rest deep in the soil, then got up to leave.

When they came, the three of them proceeded cautiously, exploring as they went, unable to go fast. On the way back with the path familiar, they increased their speed while maintaining caution, reaching the forest edge in just a fraction of the time.

“Pop!”

Suddenly, Richard stopped, furrowing his brow, appearing hesitant. Then, his brow slowly relaxed as he made a decision.

Looking up at Bobbobovic and Heluo, Richard exhaled and said, “Whew, you two go ahead and leave. I still can’t explain the doubts in my heart, so to be sure, I want to go back to the site and take another look.”

“What’s going on?” Heluo asked, “Wizard Richard, are your doubts really that important?”

“Not exactly important, just a bit inexplicable,” Richard said seriously, “According to my previous inference, the culprit in the Silent Forest should be a more intelligent creature.

That’s why it would probe our strength with the Demonized Moose Group and spy on us. But the behavior of the Demonized Black Snakes didn’t align with that inference, not to mention the huge flaw in their last fusion attempt. The fact that they fought to the death without retreating or surviving was abnormal.

Typically, a more intelligent creature values its life more, doesn’t easily risk putting itself in danger, and doesn’t see battle as the only way to solve problems. It can try to escape or surrender, but it didn’t. Strange things happen for a reason, so I need to go back and check.”

After speaking, Richard turned around, burst out with speed, and transformed into a black line as he flew towards the depths of the forest, leaving Bobbobovic and Heluo staring at each other.
