Capítulo 911: Chapter 909: Alien Hand Syndrome
It was supposed to be a comfortable dinner, but Bobbobovic found it somewhat unpleasant.
However, the dinner eventually came to an end.
The owner lowered his head, quickly removing the remnants of the food. Richard and Bobbobovic sat at the table, waiting patiently.
After about another twenty minutes, with a creak, the tavern door opened. The damp night breeze swept in, and with it came a woman like the night itself.
She appeared to be about thirty years old, wearing a black evening dress made of crepe fabric and a round black hat with a thin black veil hanging from the brim, vaguely covering her face.
She exuded a unique aura, and the moment she walked in, it felt like the night had enveloped the tavern. The whole world suddenly became incredibly serene, making people subconsciously relax.
Richard and Bobbobovic stood up and looked at her, recognizing her identity, and without hesitation introduced themselves: “Richard.”
“Bobbobovic.”
“My name is Heluo, Third-level Wizard, sent by the Hall Orcs Branch to collaborate with you two on a mission.” She also introduced herself while gently drifting closer, her voice soft.
As she approached, she first extended her right hand and shook hands with Richard: “Hello, Wizard Richard.”
Richard clearly felt her hand was soft, delicate, with a pleasing touch.
But it was only a brief handshake before it was released.
The witch named Heluo then extended her right hand towards Bobbobovic, paused with a smile, and said, “Wizard Vici, your name is a bit of a tongue-twister; please allow me to call you Vici, no offense.”
Bobbobovic raised an eyebrow, took a liking to Heluo upon hearing her words. He extended his right hand, trying to make a gentlemanly gesture, and said, “Of course, I don’t mind, Wizard Heluo; it is my honor.”
Their hands approached, about to touch, when an anomaly occurred.
A third hand suddenly appeared, as if from nowhere, and snapped onto Bobbobovic’s palm with a crisp sound, making it numb.
“Pa!”
Bobbobovic was stunned on the spot.
The witch Heluo was also stunned.
Richard… was a little stunned too.
The reason was nothing else but that the extra third hand was the left hand of the witch Heluo.
Bobbobovic blinked several times, looked at Heluo, and asked, “Wizard Heluo, what is this…”
“I didn’t mean it, listen to me, it actually is… Pa!”
Before finishing her sentence, another crisp sound was heard, as Heluo’s left hand once again smacked fiercely onto Bobbobovic’s right palm, making it bright red.
Bobbobovic’s expression turned stiff. Already frustrated by the previous incident with the foot liquor, he now felt completely downcast—why did the whole world seem to be against him?
First, he had to drink wash water, now a beautiful witch inexplicably hits him; what next, will she slap his face?
Just as Bobbobovic thought of this, he noticed Heluo’s left hand rise, approaching his face directly.
Is she serious… Bobbobovic almost broke down inside but reacted quickly, dodging rapidly to the side and glared at Heluo in front of him. At this point, all his goodwill towards her had completely dropped to zero, even turning somewhat hostile, wanting to clarify one thing.
“Why are you doing this to me? We… uh, shouldn’t know each other, right?” By the end, Bobbobovic suddenly wasn’t so sure. Because he found Heluo’s behavior towards him somewhat resembled a girl scorned by a playboy.
Could it be that he and Heluo had such a relationship?
Could it be, at some past time, they had been in contact?
Well, it’s quite possible. During a certain period, he had indeed been reckless, having flings with many pretty girls he knew and didn’t know, afterwards disappearing without a trace, never keeping in touch.
Could Heluo be one of those girls? Now a Third-level Wizard of the Truth Society, unexpectedly meeting him, unable to resist giving revenge?
Bobbobovic worriedly thought as Heluo, using her right hand, slowly pulled her left hand behind her back, and, with an apologetic look at Bobbobovic, said: “Wizard Vici, I don’t know you at all, nor have I any contact with you. The reason I hit you wasn’t intentional; it was completely done by my uncontrollable left hand itself.”
“Your left hand did it on its own? Uncontrollably?” Bobbobovic blinked, partially believing but mostly doubting, having never heard of such a bizarre thing, feeling it was Heluo’s excuse to give him a beating.
She must be one of the girls he once abandoned.
Absolutely.
Sigh, how could he be so unlucky; just arrived in this Roch Town for a while and already drank foot wash and got hit.
He’s merely here on a mission, why is it so hard!
Heluo looked at Bobbobovic’s expression and said: “Wizard Vici, you don’t believe me, do you?”
She turned to Richard: “Wizard Richard, you probably don’t believe me either?”
“But regardless of whether you believe it or not, this is reality,” Heluo sighed and said, “My left hand really is out of my control, it’s been cursed. Most of the time, it acts like a regular hand and helps me with tasks.
But sometimes, unpredictably, it seems to have a mind of its own, doing some inexplicable things. Sometimes it even tries to strangle me while I’m asleep, although more often, it does mischievous things like just now, leaving me crying and laughing at the same time.”
Sounds a bit like Alien Hand Syndrome… Richard raised an eyebrow, pondering internally.
Alien Hand Syndrome, also known as uncontrolled hand syndrome, is a rare neurological disorder, where the patient’s hand seems controlled by someone else.
This condition is generally caused by a split in the brain, brain surgery, stroke, infectious disease, or other unknown factors. Once it occurs, the hand, although having normal sensation, behaves independently and distinctly different from the patient’s typical actions.
As a result, many scenarios from horror films happen in reality.
For instance, a man asleep suddenly has one hand gripping his throat tightly, unwilling to let go until he suffocates, eyes rolling back, then it drops down.
Or a beautiful woman driving alone along the road, humming a song in good spirits. Just as she crosses a bridge, her uncontrollable hand violently jerks the steering wheel, sending her car off the bridge into the rushing river below.
This disorder records about a few dozen cases on Earth, and due to its oddity, the underlying cause is hard to pinpoint, so besides letting it be, there’s no specific treatment plan.
And now, in this Wizard World, has he encountered a case?
