Chapter 355: An Nan’s Bad Habits

Chapter 355: Chapter 355: An Nan’s Bad Habits

Under Lin Mubai’s silent indication, An Jiayou went upstairs. He didn’t head to any other room but went straight to Uncle Mu Bai’s room. Instead of knocking, he tried the door handle directly and surprisingly managed to open it.

Without any hesitation, he pushed the door open and walked in, immediately spotting An Nan curled up like a ball on the bed, not yet realizing his arrival.

For some reason, he suddenly felt like laughing, and his heart was instantly warmed. He also realized that in just these two short days of not seeing her, he genuinely missed this woman, a kind of longing he had never felt before.

Standing at the doorway, staring at the ball on the bed for a long while, he then carefully tiptoed forward.

Stopping at the edge of the bed, he didn’t call out her name. Instead, he stealthily took off his shoes and climbed up directly, just like the playful times in childhood—something he hadn’t done for many years.

However, his action startled the person on the bed. An Nan’s first instinct was that some rascal was up to mischief again, and she instantly shouted, "You rascal, get off me." Habitually, as she yelled, she kicked out a foot.

After shouting and kicking, she realized she had made a mistake in both actions. Her cheeks quickly flushed red. Immediately, she jumped off the bed, trying to help the person lying on the floor, "Jiayou, I’m sorry, I’m sorry. Did I kick you anywhere? Are you hurt? Let’s go to the hospital and get it checked."

At the mention of going to the hospital, both mother and son reacted the same way.

An Jiayou shook his head relentlessly and stood up agilely from the floor, "An Nan, I’m fine, no need to go to the hospital." Actually, his butt was aching badly. Even though the carpet covered the floor, falling from such a height was bound to hurt, and by morning, it would surely be bruised.

"Are you sure you’re okay?" Even with her son’s assurance, An Nan still felt uneasy.

"I’m fine, I’m fine. But An Nan, you really need to change this bad habit of kicking people. I’m genuinely worried for Uncle Mu Bai’s future."

"Worried about what?" Discussing men with her son made An Nan feel uncomfortable.

An Jiayou’s eyes twinkled mischievously as he continued teasingly, "I’m worried that Uncle Mu Bai will get kicked out of bed by you in the middle of the night."

An Nan instantly bristled, "An Jiayou, shut your mouth."

His opponent was unafraid of her anger and continued to provoke, "Hmph, An Nan, I’m just speaking the truth. Why would you stop me?"

"Just don’t say it." An Nan said, reaching out to cover the other’s mouth, but An Jiayou quickly stepped back.

"An Nan, why are you so petty?"

"I am petty, so what?"

"Be careful that no one will want you if you’re too petty."

"Don’t worry, someone already wants me now." An Nan said proudly.

"Hmph, I’ll definitely tell Uncle Mu Bai about your true self, and then maybe he’ll not want you."

"Go ahead, go ahead."

...

Mother and son quarreled so playfully in the room, completely forgetting that this wasn’t their own little nest.

Tired of the banter, An Nan tightly held her son in her arms, unwilling to let go.

An Jiayou, unlike usual, didn’t struggle but quietly nestled in An Nan’s embrace, listening to her endless chatter, and felt very happy.
