Chapter 64: Terror Under the Car

Chapter 64: Chapter 64: Terror Under the Car

Turning his head, in his eyes, a zombie resembling "Sadako", with disheveled hair and a filthy face, shockingly grabbed onto his foot.

Hu Xiaodong instinctively pulled his leg back, his body curling into a bow shape. But who would’ve thought that the persistent zombie would cling tightly to his sole, sliding and pouncing forward with his thigh.

"Damn it!" Glancing at the zombie creeping closer behind him, Hu Xiaodong felt a chill down his spine, with large beads of sweat trickling down his cheeks.

There’s no doubt, given the zombie’s current position, just one bite would cost Hu Xiaodong his life right here.

At this life-and-death moment, Hu Xiaodong had no time to hesitate, yet fortunately his nerves were still strong enough; anyone else might have been paralyzed, not knowing what to do.

With a roll in mid-air, Hu Xiaodong went from prone to lying down, then lifted his right foot to kick fiercely at the zombie’s head to halt its forward biting momentum.

What to do??

Call for help from companions? No way! Shouting here would certainly attract the attention of the zombies outside.

Then take off his shoe, roll out from under the car to escape? Also no way! There are still moving zombies on both sides of the car, rolling out rashly might get himself surrounded by zombies!

...

His mind swiftly cycled through various escape scenarios, but after analyzing and reasoning, Hu Xiaodong ultimately found that besides a real life-and-death fight with the "Sadako" behind him, there was no other way out.

It’s a simple rule of combat: it’s either you or me! But in the case of Hu Xiaodong and "Sadako", the latter clearly held a significant advantage.

First, the timing.

The blazing sun had already begun to rise from the horizon, the sweltering heat undoubtedly affecting Hu Xiaodong’s mindset.

Secondly, the terrain.

Underneath the car, the cramped space was not much trouble for the legless "Sadako", but severely hindered the bulky Hu Xiaodong’s movements.

Finally, manpower.

Outside the SUV, "Sadako"’s kin numbered in the hundreds, and these brutes, knowing no fatigue or pain, were relentless killing machines armed to the teeth.

On Hu Xiaodong’s side, although accompanied by 5 brothers, ...

In comparison, "Sadako", having the timing, terrain, and manpower, was undoubtedly assured of victory, but even so, Hu Xiaodong would never give up easily.

After all, it concerned his life!

Due to spatial constraints, Hu Xiaodong could no longer hack at "Sadako"’s head as freely as before. He tried a couple of swings but the blockage between his legs nearly made him injure his own ankle.

"Stay calm!" Pressing down his inner tension and panic, Hu Xiaodong quickly thought of a countermeasure.

It was clear that relying on slashing to kill the enemy was hopeless at the moment. Moreover, the distance of "Sadako" from him doom his hands to be useless.

Unless...

As if something struck him, Hu Xiaodong’s dark eyes suddenly lit up.

Without a shred of hesitation, he fiercely pulled back his left leg, unsurprisingly dragging "Sadako" back once more.

"Now’s the time!" Gazing at the dragging, decaying "pretty face", Hu Xiaodong boldly grabbed the cleaver at his side and struck down heavily.

With gravity and inertia, the sharp blade instantly embedded into "Sadako"’s skull.

But as long as a zombie’s brainstem wasn’t entirely destroyed, its life wouldn’t end.

"Sadako" continued struggling vigorously, the steel blade sunk halfway into her head not causing her any discomfort, instead the prey’s resistance further aroused her ferocity.

"****!" Hu Xiaodong couldn’t help but curse, the zombie’s cockroach-like survival ability truly made him sweat in shame.

The first slash failed, and it was only natural to replicate it with another. Yet when he tried to pull out the blade, he was horrified to find it stuck in the skull and wouldn’t come out.

To encounter such a strange situation at a critical moment of life and death, Hu Xiaodong felt his heart instantly sink to the bottom.

"Sadako" didn’t care about Hu Xiaodong’s horror. Seizing his stunned moment, she pressed down fiercely towards his groin area.

"Damn, it’s over!" Watching the corpse head lowering inch by inch, Hu Xiaodong’s whole body stiffened as if electrocuted.

Escape was basically impossible, the zombie merely inches away gave him no chance.

Death! It was imminent, and past memories flashed through Hu Xiaodong’s mind like a movie.

From the first cry as a child, to the innocent first love in youth;

From the kindly, blood-bound parents, to the heartfelt, brotherly friends;

Everything about himself replayed vividly, and Hu Xiaodong suddenly realized living was such a joyful thing.

But...

"Plop!" A slight pain came from the abdomen, Hu Xiaodong despondently closed his eyes, but only for two seconds before suddenly opening them wide again.

Because...

With a nervous heart, he looked down at the zombie once more, yet the expected bloody chomping scene didn’t occur. Instead, "Sadako" was still about ten centimeters away from him.

The slight abdominal pain from earlier was actually caused by the handle of the inserted blade hitting him.

"Damn it!"

It’s said there’s only a step between heaven and hell, and Hu Xiaodong fully understood this saying at this moment.

He stood dumbfounded for two seconds, then suddenly realized and launched a counter-attack.

"Die, you beast!"

He stomped down fiercely on the steel blade embedded in the corpse head, one foot after another, without stopping, without pausing, like

a full-throttle threshing machine.

And with this overwhelming flurry of kicks, the previously stuck steel blade began slicing into the corpse’s brain like a watermelon.

"What was that sound? Did you hear it?" Though the noise was minor, Wu Chao still noticed it.

Wang Qiang uncertainly nodded, then responded, "Yes, it seems to come from..."

Lowering his eyes slightly, Wang Qiang continued in a deep voice, "It seems to be coming from under the car."

"What? Could Brother Hu be in danger?" As he spoke, Wu Chao moved to open the car door and rescue, but as he was about to pull the door handle, Tang Xiaoquan leaned down and blocked him.

"Wait, Xiao Wu, let’s make sure we understand the situation before acting!" With those words, Tang Xiaoquan ignored Wu Chao’s struggles, pressed his chest with one hand, lifted a curtain corner with the other, and peeked outside through the slight gap.

However, what shocked him greatly was that a pair of blood-red eyes were glaring at him through the car window...
