Chapter 30: Old friend
"Hahahaha..." Marsh burst out laughing, lightly wiping the tears from his face. Then he lifted a cup of tea and drank it down.
A few seconds later, he grabbed the cup again and activated his Stoker-class skill, burning it into ashes with the searing heat pouring from his palm.
"I can’t believe you actually let him into the student council."
He spat and gazed at Carl in disgust and sneered, sinking back into the softness of the sofa he was lounging on.
Alger sat nearby, showing almost no hostility toward Carl. She only smiled seductively and gave him a playful wink.
"What a creep... Don’t talk to me."
Carl shuddered for a moment before pulling out a sheet from the stack of papers he’d been clutching and placing it on the desk where Hanley had been signing. That was the job he was stuck with here—handling the paperwork.
After taking a short breath, Carl glanced at the student president and activated his [All-Seeing Eye] skill.

Carl shifted his attention toward Alger.

"That fat bastard’s gotten too full of himself... Remember back when I hadn’t even awakened my soul? You didn’t even have the right to lick my shoes."
Just thinking about it sent a wave of fury through Carl’s mind. Marsh—the guy who had bullied him ever since he awakened his soul. Carl had suffered so much under him... but now, things were different.
"I choose you, piece of shit. With my own hands, I’ll drag you down from the student council. Just wait," Carl muttered.
But... a trace of killing intent leaked from him by accident, and Marsh caught it immediately. He looked at Carl with a hard believe. The disdain was written on his face clearly. To Marsh, Carl was nothing but a useless trash bin. Yet, Carl dared to think about kill him?
Marsh then started to laugh insanely like a true psychopath, his mana rolling into his voice until the whole office vibrated.
"Just a crippled heir... How dare you glare at me with those filthy eyes? I’ll show you your place."
In an instant, Marsh disappeared, leaving nothing but an afterimage on the sofa.
Carl’s face sank into shadow, dark and twisted.
"Fuck you! You think I’m afraid of you?"
He drew his sword without hesitation, ready to cleave his enemy in half.
"STOP!"
A crushing wave of mana blanketed the entire room, locking both Marsh and Carl in place. And yet, the skill barely affected Carl at all.
"Perfect timing. Thanks for the help," Carl smirked, slipping into his sword-drawing stance with a sneaky grin as Hanley had made a opportunity for him, by a chance.
The moment Marsh reappeared in the room, Carl exhaled sharply and bared his dragon fangs, his deadly eyes locking onto his target, sending a chill of confusion through everyone present.
Why did Hanely’s suppression barely touch Carl? The others wondered. Of course, the one most shaken was Marsh himself. But it was already too late—his rhythm had been broken by Hanely. His only choice now was to instantly reinforce his body with three layers of dragon scales. Otherwise, he’d be split in two.
It was pure instinct, a self-defense mechanism—but even then, Marsh clung to the belief that Carl was weak.
And that... was his fatal mistake.
[Dimensional Slash Skill activated]
Carl’s right hand just disappeared and returned to its original position, leaving a dark slash flickering in the air, splitting the room in two.
The atmosphere felt as if it had been cut by Carl’s skill, leaving three people astonished at his power.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! MY HAND!"
Marsh yelled in maniacal agony as his two hands were cut into three pieces; even his chest didn’t escape the slash. But Marsh was really tough — tons of scales from his chest had blocked a bit of the damage from Carl’s skill.
A long, crimson gash ran across Marsh’s chest.
"Those tough scales... but I’ll finish the rest of you." With a wild look, Carl seized the opportunity that would never come again and prepared to trigger his skill once more.
"I said STOP!"
Suddenly, Hanely, beside him, grabbed Carl’s right hand and forced him to stop.
Carl just glanced coldly and soullessly at Hanely for a few seconds.
"Good." Carl let out a deep sigh and relaxed his sword hand.
...
The heavy atmosphere began to ease.
"DAMN! I’LL KILL YOU." Marsh shouted in fury while writhing on the ground. Looking at him now, he was rather miserable.
With a serious face, Alger quickly gave Marsh a healing potion and tried to comfort him.
"Don’t be reckless... drink it before you die from blood loss."
Then looked at Carl with cautious eyes — not like before.
She really thought Carl was dangerous... A rank-F individual, even with a low star-dragon soul, shouldn’t have been able to seriously harm Marsh — especially since Marsh possessed some of the hardest scales among them.
Carl just lifted the corner of his mouth and felt content witnessing the bully’s misery, but he wouldn’t stop until Marsh died.
"You’ll be devoured by me soon. Just wait."
He only glanced at Hanely and smiled.
"Thanks for helping by holding him back. I wouldn’t have had a chance if you hadn’t done that."
Hanely’s eyelid twitched when he heard that. He knew Carl was lying, but he couldn’t refute it... because in theory, no one here should’ve been able to resist his [Aura of Suppression] skill.
But the two mighty dragon student council members didn’t see it that way.
"H-HANELY! Y-YOU!..." Marsh’s expression twisted after hearing that... then, overcome by anger, he passed out on the spot.
"Why did you do that, Hanely? He supported you to reach this position, and now you treat him like trash and throw him away anytime you want?" Alger gritted her teeth in anger as she quickly helped Marsh out of the room, heading toward the treatment ward.
