Chapter 44 The Mad Bandit Dragon

"Although the park is managed by a computer system, some control systems still require manual operation. As a result, someone made a mistake, causing all the dinosaurs to escape their containment zones. Most tourists didn't escape the dinosaurs' claws. I was lucky to hide in an emergency shelter and survived."

Bai Ye nodded. "Alright, what do you need me to do?"

"Take me away from the park!" Dr. Hadd suddenly became agitated, looking at Bai Ye. "I have money, a lot of money. Jurassic Park's normal operations brought me wealth. As long as you get me out of here, I can give you money that will last a lifetime."

"Money has no meaning to me..."

Bai Ye shook his head. What was the use of money in the world battlefield? Could it make him stronger?

But...

"You have obtained a hidden quest."

"Hidden Quest: Help Dr. Hadd escape the perimeter of Jurassic Park. Quest Reward: Fossilized Pterodactyl x1, Chocolate Energy Bar x1."

Bai Ye swallowed the latter half of the sentence back, then looked at Dr. Hadd with a beaming smile. "But a lot of money has meaning."

Dr. Hadd was also excited, but also worried. "Can you really get me out?"

Bai Ye spread his hands. "No matter how much I promise, you have no other choice, do you?"

This statement left Dr. Hadd speechless. He gritted his teeth. "Fine, I'll go with you."

"No problem," Bai Ye said. "By the way, do you have any food?"

Dr. Hadd replied, "Quite a few cans."

Bai Ye nodded. "That's fine, as long as I can eat."

Food and water were essential, especially since Bai Ye's supplies were running low. This was a good opportunity to replenish.

Opening a can, Bai Ye ate while saying, "To leave here, we need to plan ahead."

Dr. Hadd nodded. "Tell me, what should we plan? Food, fresh water, there are some weapons in the park, but they're not advanced, mostly old shotguns. Besides that, there are two jeeps that can be started."

"No, there's no need for all that," Bai Ye said, looking up. "None of that is important."

Dr. Hadd looked bewildered. None of that was important?

Bai Ye continued, "I don't know the way."

This time, it was Dr. Hadd's turn to be speechless. He then started rummaging through drawers. Soon, Dr. Hadd found a map. "This is the floor plan of Jurassic Park. We are at this location..."

Bai Ye glanced at it. "It doesn't seem difficult to leave here?"

Jurassic Park occupied a considerable area. Crossing it would take about four to five days. However, the management area they were in was only sixteen hours away from the nearest perimeter.

Dr. Hadd gave a wry smile. "It's not far, but there are dinosaurs everywhere outside now. Some of the security personnel who tried to leave before were eaten. Moreover, we must go to this place before we leave."

Bai Ye looked at the map. "What is this place?"

Dr. Hadd explained, "Research Institute No. 3. I must retrieve the amber fossil."

"No problem," Bai Ye said, glancing at the map. "It's on the way. However, we'll have to go on foot. Your Jurassic Park should have been destroyed for many years, and the terrain outside has changed significantly. There are no roads suitable for vehicles anymore."

Dr. Hadd nodded, not objecting. He had indeed survived here for many years, and was tired of living underground, relying on canned food every day. Bai Ye was his only hope now. As long as Bai Ye could get him out of here, Dr. Hadd would do anything.

Bai Ye finished two cans of food, then picked up his backpack. "Let's set off then."

Bai Ye was confident about completing the mission. After all, he still had one chance with the gacha machine, and he had fragments of the Divine Stone!

As long as he used the Divine Stone fragments to specify the gacha color, Bai Ye believed that a golden gacha would surely help him solve everything.

Of course, that was a fragment of the Divine Stone!

Bai Ye didn't think Dr. Hadd's quest reward could compare to a Divine Stone fragment, so sacrificing it was not worth it. If anything truly went wrong, Bai Ye intended to run away immediately and let Dr. Hadd feed the dinosaurs.

But regardless, it was a rare hidden quest, and since he had encountered it, he naturally wanted to try and complete it.

Bai Ye thought as he led Dr. Hadd out of the buildings and began to head east.

Dr. Hadd held the shotgun nervously. After receiving the quest, Bai Ye was almost certain that Dr. Hadd posed no threat to him. He had returned the shotgun and grenades to him.

Suddenly, there was a rustling sound in the grass to their side. Dr. Hadd immediately turned, raising his shotgun.

"Calm down," Bai Ye said, placing his hand on the barrel. "This kind of noise is obviously from something small."

The grass continued to rustle, and then, a tree frog hopped out from the bushes.

"Let's keep moving forward," Bai Ye said. "Actually, there aren't as many dinosaurs as imagined? We haven't seen any along the way. I only encountered a few Velociraptors and a Ceratosaurus before."

Dr. Hadd explained, "This area is the management zone, not a tourist area. The dinosaurs' gathering places in the park are not around here. Besides, the dinosaurs here are cloned. Compared to real dinosaurs, although the restoration is very high, their lifespan is not long. According to my calculations, their lifespan is generally only five to thirty years."

Bai Ye asked, "How long has it been since the accident?"

Dr. Hadd sighed. "It's been eleven years."

Bai Ye glanced at Dr. Hadd. Eleven years of living in darkness without going insane. His will to survive was truly strong.

Dr. Hadd continued, "So, as long as we're not too unlucky, the probability of encountering dinosaurs before leaving the management zone is indeed not high. Also, some herbivorous dinosaurs have very low aggression. Even if we encounter them, there's no need to worry too much."

As soon as Dr. Hadd finished speaking, a blurry outline suddenly flashed in front of them, and then...

A dinosaur, as black as ink, with spikes on its back and golden stripes on its belly, slowly emerged from the side.

Dr. Hadd's face turned grim. "Utahraptor. It's the same species as the Velociraptor, but more ferocious."

Bai Ye spread his hands. "So, are you unlucky, or am I unlucky?"

The moment Bai Ye spoke, the Utahraptor happened to turn its head and meet Bai Ye's gaze. Then...

Roar!

The Utahraptor immediately became agitated, roaring towards Bai Ye and Dr. Hadd, then charging at them with all its might.

"Get back!"
