"Fuck my life!"
Bai Ye stared at the information flashing on the light screen, stunned for half a second before letting out a curse.
Jin Sha couldn't help but ask, "What do we do now?"
Bai Ye shrugged. "What else can we do? We have one minute left. Once we enter the restricted zone, it's survival of the fittest."
Jin Sha's expression grew serious. She raised her fist to Bai Ye and said, "Good luck."
Bai Ye bumped fists with Jin Sha. "You too. May luck be with you always!"
Since they were randomly teleported to different locations within the base, it was highly probable that the two of them wouldn't be together. From then on, they would have to rely on themselves to find a way to survive.
Even if Bai Ye wanted to help Jin Sha, he couldn't.
One minute was a short time, and soon Bai Ye noticed Jin Sha's body becoming increasingly transparent, then gradually disappearing. He then looked down at his own hands and found himself in the same state.
Bai Ye couldn't help but grin.
He had always been the one to initiate restricted zones and send others in. Was it his turn to enjoy the benefits now?
As Bai Ye mused, everything around him went dark. When the light reappeared, Bai Ye found that the surrounding scenery had completely changed.
He was in a narrow corridor. It was cold, and the walls and floor were covered with frost. Other than that, there was nothing.
Bai Ye didn't act immediately. Instead, he took out a cigarette pack from his pocket, lit one, and stuck it in his mouth, deciding to gather his thoughts.
Firstly, the research base had become a restricted zone. Bai Ye had never encountered this in his previous life. As for the reason, the information provided after triggering the restricted zone made it clear.
He knew about the three Predators completing their rite of passage by hunting Xenomorphs. However, Bai Ye was unaware of the subsequent events – that new Predators had arrived and engaged in a battle with the Xenomorphs within the research base, thus turning it into a restricted zone.
The situation was easy enough to understand, but Bai Ye was concerned about the pyramid ruins. If Xenomorphs had already made their way from underground to the surface, it could mean that the Predators and humans within the pyramid ruins were already doomed.
However, Bai Ye felt there was still hope, due to the rewards for the restricted zone missions.
The three restricted zone missions were quite straightforward. Whether Xenomorphs or Predators, they intended to kill any humans they encountered, so surviving and leaving would count as mission completion.
The survival mission was relatively simple; everyone would benefit as long as they could escape.
Of course, the mission rewards weren't particularly impressive. Among the three standard Predator equipment, the cloaking device and plasma caster, products of future technology, were absent. Only a wrist blade was provided. As for throwing discs and daggers, they were likely similar to the wrist blade. Predators had their own preferences, and although the wrist blade was standard, not all Predators used it.
However, the fact that a distress beacon could be obtained after escaping the Xenomorphs was interesting, as this was the item needed to join the human faction.
In Bai Ye's memory, the process involved finding the distress beacon at the research base, receiving the human distress signal from the pyramid ruins, and then proceeding to the pyramid ruins to activate the restricted zone as part of the human faction.
Now, the situation at the research base had changed, but this item was still present.
Bai Ye wondered if this meant that everything within the pyramid ruins hadn't concluded yet.
As for the final restricted zone mission, killing a Xenomorph Predator...
This would be difficult.
A Xenomorph Predator was a Xenomorph monster born from a Predator being infested by a Xenomorph, and its strength was considerable. The reward tier had instantly increased. The plasma caster, one of the three standard Predator weapons, appeared, along with a retractable net launcher, which was also a decent weapon.
It was just that the number of God Stone Shards was a bit low, only two.
However, Bai Ye felt it was understandable.
After all, high-tier items had appeared!
Even if the plasma caster was at the bottom of the black-quality high-tier items, it was still a high-tier item.
"Too bad there's no computer system or bio-mask," Bai Ye scratched his head. "But since we've been pulled into a restricted zone, getting a plasma caster is fine."
As Bai Ye thought, he tossed out the gacha machine.
How could he not try his luck with the gacha at a time like this!
With the machine spinning, Bai Ye went for a double draw this time, and two gacha balls rolled out simultaneously.
Bai Ye squatted down and picked them up. Both were blue.
"So-so!"
Bai Ye tapped the two gacha balls together as if cracking eggs, and then both cracked open.
Shaolin Dragon Claw Hand (Martial Art) (Blue): One of Shaolin's many palm techniques, it possesses immense destructive power but slightly weaker defense. Effect: Tear (15% chance to tear armor below blue quality) Inner Force Burst (Upon successfully grabbing a target, Strength increases by 20 points).
A close-combat martial art. Bai Ye thought it was acceptable, still "so-so" in his words.
As for what appeared in the other gacha ball...
It was familiar!
Grenade Pack (Item) (Blue): Equipped with six 82-2 all-plastic, non-handled grenades, six SL01A smoke grenades, and six M84 stun grenades.
The grenade pack was an item from a green gacha ball. Bai Ye had drawn it before. Why had it suddenly become blue?
It was because the quantity had increased!
The green one only had three, while the blue one had six.
The gacha machine wasn't one for adding more without increasing the price.
Moreover, Bai Ye felt the grenade pack was quite useful, with very high practicality. The only drawback was that it was a consumable item.
After tying the grenade pack securely, Bai Ye took a deep breath, drew his Zanpakuto, then covered a stack of playing cards with the back of his sleeve, and began to move.
He proceeded along the corridor and stopped at a corner.
A strong smell of blood.
Bai Ye became more vigilant, then turned the corner. Next, Bai Ye saw many corpses.
They were not human corpses, but the corpses of beast tamers.
Bai Ye stared at the corpses, then remembered Jin Sha saying that many beast tamers had entered the research base, turning it from a supply point into a dangerous resource point.
Ultimately, Regis was the scapegoat. The appearance of the Ice God Pillar had suddenly made the beasts living in the glaciers more active.
And the existence of these beasts was something Bai Ye couldn't fully comprehend. He wondered if their presence would cause any variables in the situation.
"Just don't cause any trouble for me."
Thump, thump, thump...
As Bai Ye was thinking, heavy footsteps suddenly sounded ahead. Then, a massive figure slowly appeared before Bai Ye.
Bai Ye was speechless. "Wish in one hand, spit in the other? Give me some respect, won't you? Why are you such a jinx!"
