Chapter 101: Chapter 101: Return to the Cooper Wizard Tower
"No, compared to practicing in peace, I’d rather kill all those demons invading the Betula Continent as soon as possible." Lor shook his head, "Bruno, do you have any better recommendations?"
He thought he had hinted clearly enough, Bruno should not have difficulty in arranging for him to become a research wizard.
"Killing more demons..." Bruno took a deep breath, suppressed the excitement in his heart, and forced himself to calm down, starting to ponder deeply.
Now that Lor has finally changed his mind, he definitely can’t be stationed in those more dangerous places anymore.
Tasks involving logistical transport of supplies are also out of the question, as they also carry risks.
It would be best if he could stay in the Wizard Tower, as it is currently the safest place.
Bruno thought for a while, suddenly realizing a place that perfectly met Lor’s requirements while ensuring safety.
He immediately spoke up, "Meteor Mage, are you interested in coming to the Wizard Tower to study abyssal demons?"
"If you can discover any fatal weaknesses of the abyssal demons and publish your findings, you’ll not only earn a hefty reward of contribution points but also help eliminate more demons to a great extent."
"The power of one wizard is limited, but the power of knowledge is infinite."
"I’ve always believed that for a genius like you, instead of personally fighting demons, it would be more beneficial to study new knowledge and spread it, which would provide the greatest help to the entire Betula Continent and even the Wizard Alliance."
The Department of Abyssal Demon Research is currently the most important department on the entire Betula Continent.
It consists entirely of research wizards, who are usually responsible for creating magic artifacts, potions, developing various new magic artifacts, exploring basic runes in materials, or optimizing rune model structures.
Then they use their research outcomes to increase their contribution point quotas with "Ration", and subsequently use the "Ration" quota to enhance their professional level or purchase apprentice experimental witchcraft.
When Lor was still an apprentice, he followed this path, and his reputation even reached the ears of the Third Ring Earth Element Great Wizard, which made Agular cautious in arranging tasks for him.
Later, due to his unique witchcraft model, he temporarily chose not to disclose it and had to take a different path.
Bruno didn’t know about Lor’s past; he only assumed that Lor was a combat-type wizard eager to earn contribution points through battle.
In order to persuade Lor into the Wizard Tower, he almost exhausted his vocabulary praising research wizards.
As for whether Lor could truly discover the abyssal demons’ fatal weaknesses...
That wasn’t important; safety was.
"Become a research wizard." Lor hesitated for a moment, then smiled and nodded, "Representative Bruno, this is indeed a very constructive proposal. I’m willing to give it a try."
"That’s great then."
Bruno quietly breathed a sigh of relief and displayed a big smile, "Meteor Mage, I’ll be waiting for you at the Cooper Wizard Tower."
"Okay." Lor nodded and cut off the communication, immediately steering the spaceship towards the mainland.
The distance to the Cooper Wizard Tower wasn’t too far, roughly a five-day journey.
...
Five days later.
"Hoo—"
A black spaceship swiftly flew over the top of a strange volcano covered with green plants.
Inside the spaceship, Lor opened the panoramic mode and glanced down at the spaceship docking area below the volcano.
"It’s really desolate." Seeing only a few large spaceships occasionally taking off or landing at the docking area, Lor couldn’t help but shake his head.
Before the abyssal invasion, the spaceship docking area was bustling 24 hours a day, forming a continuous scene.
There were missions to hunt extraordinary beings, to guard cities, to recruit apprentices, to remodel environments, and so on.
Now, only some large cargo spaceships were taking off or landing, visibly much quieter.
"Hoo—"
Lor casually found an empty spot to land the Black Cliff Spaceship, opened the second-floor hatch, and flew towards the Wizard Tower, encountering hardly anyone along the way.
A moment later, as he landed at the entrance of the Wizard Tower, he saw a young man wearing a first-ring red and green bicolor wizard robe picking up a communication ball and conveying a message with spiritual power.
This guy was probably notifying Bruno.
Lor did not disturb the young man, quietly standing aside instead.
After a while, the young man put down the communication ball, walked over to Lor, and bowed, "Meteor Mage, please wait a moment, Representative Bruno is on his way."
"Okay." Lor nodded peacefully, "You can go about your business, no need to mind me."
"Yes, Meteor Mage." The young man bowed once more respectfully, then turned decisively and left.
Fawning requires distinguishing the target.
For a person like Meteor Mage, whom Representative Bruno treats with caution, he dared not make unnecessary small talk.
"Smart move, no wonder he’s trusted by Bruno." Watching the young man walk towards the second floor of the Wizard Tower, Lor’s lips curled up slightly.
In no time, Lor saw Bruno hurrying down the stairs.
"Meteor Mage, welcome back." Upon seeing Lor, Bruno acted very warmly, as if he was celebrating a festival, with a joyful smile on his face.
"Representative Bruno, it’s been a long time." Lor also smiled and nodded.
Though they had recently communicated via the Continent Communication Device, their last face-to-face meeting in reality was over two years ago.
"Indeed, it has been a long time. This way, please."
As Bruno led Lor towards a corner of the Wizard Tower, he said, "In the Cooper Wizard Tower, we’ve imprisoned live abyssal demons on the first basement level and placed specimens on the second basement level."
"For a wizard of your esteemed first-class research center status like you, Meteor Mage, you can request three third-level abyssal demons each day for research, with no restriction on species."
"First and second-level abyssal demons can be requested ten at a time, but given the limited transportation capability, we can’t do more, I hope you’ll forgive us, Meteor Mage."
At this point, he glanced at Lor worriedly, fearing that he might not be satisfied and would prefer capturing demons himself for research.
"That’s more than sufficient." Lor nodded, acknowledging.
Demons are too large to easily transport and control, so being able to provide three third-level demons of any race each day is already impressive.
Moreover, his primary goal wasn’t really the demons; he was simply here to pass the time.
"I’ll immediately share the Abyssal Research Task with you." Bruno breathed a sigh of relief and quickly pulled out the Continent Communication Device to make the arrangements.
A moment later, Lor felt the Continent Communication Device in his Space Ring tremble slightly.
Taking it out, he saw two notifications in the "Ration" section.
He opened them one by one; one was notifying him of the termination of the Support Wizard task, and the other was an invitation for the Abyssal Experiment Task.
