Chapter 1000: Chapter 1000: Gift
Guo Xuwen looked at the police, and before they snapped out of it, he confessed everything about how he killed Guo Xuwu years ago.
Listening to his confession, everyone was a bit surprised.
This incident happened three or four years ago, the police were unsure what Guo Xuwen and Su Lifan’s confession meant now.
The police then asked why they suddenly decided to surrender.
Guo Xuwen did not speak.
Su Lifan cried incessantly, saying she had done something wrong and should have called the police earlier.
Since both of them admitted it and confirmed the incident, the police had to investigate further, but it wasn’t something they could clarify right away.
Seeing the police staying to investigate, Jiangli, Xia Xin, and Master Wu quietly left.
As they left the hospital, Xia Xin was still a bit puzzled: “Didn’t Guo Xuwen deny his wrongdoing? Why did he admit guilt so readily when the police asked?”
Jiangli did not say a word.
Master Wu, looking as if he understood everything, said, “Isn’t it simple? If he surrenders, he’ll receive a lighter sentence. He definitely wants to lessen the guilt and spend less time in prison!”
Xia Xin suspiciously frowned, was that true?
He always felt it wasn’t quite like that…
When Guo Xuwu left, Guo Xuwen didn’t dare look at him.
Yet after Guo Xuwu left, Guo Xuwen didn’t seem relieved. Instead, he clenched his hands and avoided everyone’s gaze.
Xia Xin always felt Guo Xuwen might have regretted it.
But no one knew what he was thinking in the end.
They all returned to Jiaoyang Temple first.
Just as they stepped into Jiaoyang Temple, Jiangli saw Fu’er standing at the main hall entrance, with several boxes in front of him, seemingly counting something.
Hearing footsteps, Fu’er turned around and upon seeing Jiangli and the others, called out, “Patriarch, you’re back! Just in time, Mr. Qin’s gifts have arrived. Would you like to have a look?”
Jiangli stepped over and curiously peered in, “What are all these?”
The boxes were packed full, like treasure chests, containing all sorts of things.
Fu’er introduced, “These two boxes here are all delicacies, like abalone and bird’s nest, I’ve heard they were airlifted from abroad, costs quite a bit.”
Jiangli immediately perked up, rummaging through them while asking, “Are they tasty?”
Fu’er replied, “I’ve never eaten these, so I don’t know.”
Saying this, he looked at Xia Xin.
Xia Xin scratched his head, “I’ve never had them either… but abalone and bird’s nest are very expensive, probably taste great?”
Upon hearing this, Master Wu commented, “There’s nothing particularly delicious about them, nothing special in taste, pretty average, but they’re valuable, nutritious too, considered good stuff.”
Master Wu, unlike Xia Xin who often had to scrimp and save, was a fairly renowned master working solo in F City, had made quite a bit of money, and naturally tried delicacies like shark fin and sea cucumber.
Hearing his evaluation, Jiangli became somewhat uninterested, “No flavor, then they mustn’t be tasty.”
Xia Xin said, “They can be cooked differently. If the patriarch wishes to try some, I can learn to cook them and make a dish for the patriarch this evening.”
Jiangli nodded, “That works.” Then she patted the box beside her, “What’s in here?”
“Oh, in here are a bunch of gaming consoles and software,” Fu’er introduced, “The delivery person said Mr. Qin specifically instructed them to prepare these, perhaps thinking that the patriarch likes playing games, so he bought all the popular game software on the market, filling such a big box, and it seems quite pricey.”
Jiangli blinked, “Games?”
She liked this stuff!
Jiangli rummaged through the box and pulled out a brand-new gaming console, her eyes sparkling as she began to fiddle with it.
