Chapter 83: Ruan Chanchan: I need food
Fortunately, Ruan Chanchan was still with their tribe. Father Xie patted his chest in relief and then turned to look at Ruan Chanchan with a smile on his face. "Chanchan? Why don’t you eat the meat? You should eat some meat; you are way too thin."
Ruan Chanchan shivered when she heard the words of Father Xie. She raised her head and looked at the mer with a hint of confusion in her eyes. She didn’t know much about this mer, but she did know that this mer had never looked at the host of this body with a smile before. Why was he suddenly acting so kind to her?
Seeing the look of confusion and wariness in her eyes, Father Xie’s smile turned a bit stiff. It seemed like Ruan Chanchan remembered his lukewarm attitude toward her. He touched his nose guiltily and turned to look at Xie Suicheng and Xie Daiyu. Both brothers shook their heads; they knew that Ruan Chanchan didn’t remember much, but she did remember a few things.
Since that was the case, if Father Xie tried to get close to her, that would only make Ruan Chanchan wary of him. It was better for him to take his time and get close to the woman. Acting too enthusiastically might not prove as beneficial to him.
Chief Xie also thought so; she didn’t act way too close to Ruan Chanchan and simply lowered her voice and gently said to Ruan Chanchan, "I am grateful for what you did to Nan Wu. You might not remember this, but that girl is one of the strongest warriors. She is a level four beast warrior, a Hide Warrior. She is an elite beast warrior. If something had happened to her, then our tribe would have suffered. Not to mention the Black Snake Tribe would have used her death to humiliate our tribe."
Just the thought alone was enough to make Chief Xie grit her teeth in anger.
"You did a really good job by saving Nan Wu’s life." Chief Xie didn’t know whether Ruan Chanchan was really going to change the destiny of their tribe, but the fact that she saved Nan Wu was enough for her to see Ruan Chanchan in a new light.
Ruan Chanchan was feeling a bit awkward. If she were being honest, this was the first time she was being praised in such a manner. Even when she was living as Mo Qiang, all she received was scolding, where others kept telling her that she needed to do better. And the rest of her lives were not any better. Chief Xie could be said to be one of those few people who genuinely praised her.
So, it was not a surprise that Ruan Chanchan didn’t know how to react. She simply smiled at the woman and tried to suppress the discomfort that was riding high and low in her body. Her vision was slowly turning blurry, and she couldn’t help but ask, "Xiao Xi, what’s happening to me? Why am I feeling so sick?"
She just recovered; don’t tell her that she was going to fall sick again?
Darling, you used your mental energy to learn how to mend superficial wounds. It’s not a surprise that you are feeling weak. It’s because all of your energy has been drained. You need to rest before you can recover.
"You mean to say that every time I learn a new skill, I will catch a fever?" Ruan Chanchan asked with a frown. If so, this skill was really useless. How could she faint after healing just a single person?
Don’t worry, darling. It won’t happen with your mental energy getting stronger. But at the moment, you are really too weak; that’s why you are feeling feverish. Even Xiao Xi felt sorry for what was happening to Ruan Chanchan, but there was nothing he could do for her. Ruan Chanchan’s body was way too weak at the moment. He truly wished to help his dear host, but this was Ruan Chanchan’s fight.
Unless she grew up along with her skills, there was no way around this situation.
Oh...
Ruan Chanchan closed her eyes, feeling a bit tired. It was her fault for being too weak. She closed her eyes, wanting to relieve a bit of stress, but the second she did, her body swayed and fell back.
"RUAN CHANCHAN!"
That was the last thing she heard before darkness fell over her eyes once again. Someone—anyone, please bring her some good food to eat; she needed a lot of energy to get stronger. Because instant noodles were not cutting it!

"She is fine, just tired. There is no need to worry; now everyone needs to back down and let her breathe," an elderly voice was speaking in her ears, and Ruan Chanchan frowned heavily. She could also hear the fussing and yelling, and she wondered why they were making a fuss. She raised her hand and turned to look for her phone.
However, even after patting her hand around for a while, she didn’t feel anything. Frowning harder, she realised that her phone was missing, and what was even more surprising was that even her mattress was gone. What kind of thief was this? He even stole her mattress.
Annoyed, she opened her eyes and looked at the floor on which she was lying.
The second she opened her eyes, Ruan Chanchan felt a tremor rock her body because she was looking at a rocky and rickety ceiling like that of a cave.
Her willow-like brows furrowed, but then all the memories hit her like –bam– a crushing wave falling right on top of her head and Ruan Chanchan remembered everything about her transmigration in the beast world.
"Oh, you are awake?"
The gentle voice spoke once again, and Ruan Chanchan turned to look at the woman who was looking down at her.
"P–Priestess Yuan?" Ruan Chanchan called the woman, hoping that she didn’t make a mistake.
"That’s right, this is Priestess Yuan," said the old woman with a smile. With the help of her staff, she sat down on the floor of the cave and asked, "How are you feeling?"
