Chapter 76: Gobble him up
Jaden tried to look for who it was, but all he saw was fairy-like blue-pink hair before his vision turned dark, and he lost consciousness.
The gate guardian, however, didn’t stop and tried to punch again, but suddenly all the melted metal or intact ones moved and began to stick onto the gate guardian, stopping it from moving further.
The fairy-like, blue-pink-haired woman turned and looked at her friend. She had brown hair, blue sea-like eyes and a slender body. Her face always looked as if she were annoyed with something.
"Lane, are you sure we aren’t late... things don’t seem too good to me."
Lane turned and looked at the young woman with long, fairy-like, blue-pink hair cascading down her back and a single thick pigtail on the left side. Her gem-like blue eyes glinted with confusion. A frown was etched on her face, though her tight-fitting outfit complemented her mature body.
"I think we are late... Maria."
Maria shook her head at her friend’s words and turned back towards the gate guardian.
"The gate guardian is already here."
She mumbled as she walked towards the gate guardian that was trying to free itself from the bindings of the metal. Maria raised her palm, and a silver blob floated on it. She clenched her fist, and the blob stretched before turning into a silver scythe.
She stepped again and appeared behind the guardian, the scythe resting on her shoulder, and the guardian stopped moving before it crumbled into small bits.
"All done."
Maria added with a smile as the silver scythe shrank back into a silver blob.
Lane walked towards her with a dissatisfied look and spoke in annoyance.
"What do you mean by ’All done’? Why did I come here then?"
Maria covered her mouth with a hand and asked playfully.
"Are you saying that I should’ve taken my time, placing the civilians and the arcane knights in danger?"
"Ugh! You know that’s not what I meant!" Lane answered as she stomped her legs.
"Haha!" Maria chuckled at her theatrics before her eyes fell on Jaden, who lay unconscious within the crater left behind by the punches of the gate guardian.
Maria walked towards him and raised her hand. The silver blob expanded and covered Jaden’s body, lifting him into the air.
"What are you doing with him?" Lana raised an eyebrow and questioned her with folded arms across her chest.
"Nothing... I’m just a bit curious."
Lane looked at the silver orb before shaking her head and muttering.
"Let’s go then, others will take care of the damages and civilians."
The two of them walked, and the silver blob containing Jaden’s unconscious body floated behind them. Soon, they reached what appeared to be a heavily armoured SUV (ASUV) which was as big as an elephant. Lane placed her hand on the door and opened it as she took the driver’s seat. Maria sat on the seat beside the driver’s.
The driver panel was lined with multicoloured buttons of various sizes, and the interior of the ASUV was red with black, graceful patterns.
"Where to?" Lane questioned as she looked at Jaden, who was lying in the backseat, still unconscious.
Maria also looked at him before leaning back in her seat and responding.
"Marquise’s mansion."
Lane nodded at her words and pressed a green button, then stepped onto the accelerator. The ASUV roared before it began speeding through the streets. As it moved deeper, the better the buildings and environment became, and soon it reached the gate of a red mansion with vermilion banners hanging at its outermost wall.
"We are here," Lane said as she took out what appeared to be a smartphone and pressed on it before putting it close to her ear.
"Hello? Ah, yes, open the gates... hmm, alright."
Just as she ended the call, the wide gates of the marquise’s mansion opened. Allowing both of them entry. Lane didn’t waste any time and pressed on the accelerator.
The ASUV entered the gates before they were closed once again. It continued to move and stopped at the parking on the right. Lane pressed another button, she opened the door and looked at Maria as she spoke.
"I have to go give the report."
Maria nodded at her and answered with a smile.
"Thank you."
Lane didn’t say anything and left.
Maria looked at Jaden’s face in the rear-view mirror; her brows were furrowed as she mumbled.
"So young but already an Adept-ranked... How interesting."
She once again covered Jaden’s unconscious body with her silver blob and exited the ASUV. A maid with her long hair styled into a bun and admiration-filled brown eyes walked over to her and bowed as she spoke.
"Young Lady."
Maria smiled widely and stepped closer with her hands behind her back before whispering in the maid’s ear.
"Amelia... how is everything going with Rudy? Did you do ’it’ already?"
The maid hurriedly raised her head; her face had gone beetroot red. She shrank in herself as she spoke embarrassedly.
"Y-young l-lady, what are you talking about?"
"Haha!" Maria chuckled at her words and turned around as she responded. "My dear Amelia, what can I say? Your private life seems more public than your public life. Hoho!"
Amelia opened her lips to ask further, but her eyes fell on the large silver blob floating beside her.
"What’s in that?"
Maria turned her head with a raised eyebrow, and seeing that she was talking about Jaden, she smiled as her eyes turned mischievous.
"Want to know?"
Amelia nodded seriously. Maria walked closer to the silver blob and touched it. The blob parted and revealed Jaden’s abs.
"A man...?" Amelia mumbled with a puzzled look, to which Maria replied while licking her lips.
"Indeed, I am going to gobble him up."
Amelia turned towards her with a panicked expression as she stuttered.
"W-what?"
"You heard me."
Amelia’s eyes turned wide as she added loudly.
"No! You can’t give your purity to an unknown man! You’ve already waited thirty years, just wait— eek!"
Maria pinched her cheeks.
