Chapter 50: My Husband Won’t See Another Woman
Lando didn’t answer right away. His fingers stilled on the keyboard, and for a moment, the only sound in the room was the faint hum of his computer. Slowly, he leaned back in his chair, his eyes lifting to meet mine.
"I can’t answer something that has no logic to it," he began slowly. "Maybe it can, maybe it can’t. But one thing I can promise you is that I will respect you as my wife, and won’t bring another woman into our relationship."
I raised an eyebrow, a little confused. "Why?"
Lando sighed. "Because being tangled up with too many women only brings trouble later on."
Both Lando or Helcia were the products of infidelity, so he was probably traumatized by it as well.
"But that only applies to me. As for you ... I’m not forbidding you from seeing other men."
I opened my mouth to respond, but Lando spoke again before I could. "Still, I wouldn’t recommend it."
I leaned toward him, curiosity sparking. "Oh? And why is that?"
"The world is already too broken." He cleared his throat before continuing, "People fool around too much, and they end up catching diseases because of it. I don’t ever want that happening to you. That’s why ... it’s better if you don’t get involved with random men."
"Of course I wouldn’t!" I burst out. "And ... since you said you won’t bring another woman into this marriage, then I won’t bring another man into it either! Besides, I don’t want to have a scandal that will be hard to clean up in the future."
The moment I said those words, Lando’s eyes softened, his gaze fixed on me with a hint of disbelief. "Really?"
I nodded right away, perhaps a little too eagerly. "Really!"
For a second, he just stared at me, as if trying to decide whether or not to believe me. Then, slowly, the tension in his shoulders eased, and a faint smile appeared across his lips.
Something about that look made my heart race, like I had just given him an answer he didn’t even realize he needed to hear.
[Lando’s favorability has increased by +2%]
Oh, I never expected his favorability to rise! We were only talking, nothing more.
[But the content of your conversation was meaningful, Host.]
I lowered my eyes a bit, realizing that it meant Lando actually didn’t want me to have relationships with other men either.
So ... would he also get jealous if I did that?
I wanted to know, but I didn’t want to test it because that would be such a stupid thing to do.
Honestly, what kind of terrible person would flirt with someone else just to watch their spouse go crazy? Only the worst kind of jerk.
"Do you have anything else to say?" Lando suddenly asked, pulling me out of my reverie.
That was when I realized I must have been disturbing him while he was working. Flustered, I quickly rose from the chair. "I-I guess that’s all. I’m sorry for bothering you."
But before I could take a step toward the door, his voice stopped me.
"You’re not disturbing me," Lando said, his tone calm but firm.
I froze, my hand hovering near the doorknob, before slowly turning back to face him. His eyes were on me again, as if he wanted to make sure I understood.
"For me," he continued, "you can come in anytime you want."
My breath caught in my throat, and for a moment, I couldn’t think of a single thing to say.
In the end, all I could manage was, "T-that’s nice to hear."
Then, I bolted out of the room before Lando could say anything else, my whole face burning so hot I thought I might catch fire.
The moment I stepped into my bedroom, I threw myself onto the bed and buried my face in the pillow, muffling the scream that tore out of me. "My husband won’t see another woman!!!"
My legs kicked against the mattress like an overexcited teenager, my heart thumping so fast I couldn’t calm it down.
After nearly ten minutes, I finally managed to calm myself down and let out a long, heavy sigh. "My husband is too cute," I whispered into the quiet room.
Out of habit, I reached for my phone and opened Zentra+. At that second, my eyes nearly popped out of my head.
My video had already been watched over two hundred thousand times in just a few hours!
My mouth fell open as I scrolled through the endless stream of comments:
"I’ve followed you, please update the cats!"
"Where’s the kitten content? Don’t leave us hanging!"
"Please tell me you brought them home!"
I clutched the phone to my chest, torn between laughing and screaming. Not only did I have a dangerously cute husband, but now the whole internet was falling head over heels for my cats too!
When I checked my followers, the number had already shot up to nearly two thousand.
It was still far from ten thousand, but I felt sure the views and followers would skyrocket in four days.
[Do you want to turn your page into cat content, Host?] Penny asked, her voice playful in my head.
I rolled onto my back, staring at the ceiling with a grin. "Of course not, silly," I said. "The cats are only my lucky charm."
As long as I had already caught people’s attention, boosting the views wouldn’t be that hard. All I needed to do was keep slipping the cats into every video. It didn’t even have to look like pure "cat content", just enough to keep them hooked.
Maybe I could post little pieces of my daily life too. But definitely nothing that looked like I was showing off wealth. Sure, that kind of content would sell fast, but the consequences would be a nightmare. Some people would love it, but others would start digging into where all that money came from.
So, no. Not happening. Lando hadn’t even revealed who he really was to the public, and the last thing I wanted was to stress him out by flashing his wealth online.
For now, it was better to focus on building my account with something simpler, letting people see my brighter side, my sunny personality ... and of course, my cats.
