Chapter 277: No Emotional Agitation Allowed

Chapter 277: Chapter 277: No Emotional Agitation Allowed

"Mr. Kane, your mother just finished her surgery and cannot be too emotionally excited. This is not conducive to the patient’s recovery and may even lead to severe consequences. Therefore, we hope you can take care of the patient’s emotions."

Julia Sinclair’s tone was very professional, as if a doctor reminding a patient’s family member of what to be cautious about.

When Leon Keane looked over at Julia Sinclair, her breath hitched, and her heart pounded fiercely, as if she were back in high school, seeing Leon Keane’s stunning beauty for the first time, totally disrupting her heart like a tempest and uncontrollably falling in love with this man.

Falling in love with Leon Keane was like being poisoned.

Even after all these years apart, Julia could never forget this man who had appeared in her life, such an outstanding and perfect man that drove girls crazy.

In her dreams, Julia saw Leon Keane in a white wedding dress, stunningly handsome like a deity, riding a white horse with flowers and a diamond ring in hand, galloping to her side, as she accepted his proposal sweetly while wearing a snow-white wedding gown.

Now, Leon Keane was standing alive right in front of her; Julia’s heart swelled with joy, thinking: Heaven doesn’t disappoint those in love; her dream was finally about to come true.

Julia completely cast aside Ivana Monroe next to Leon Keane, as if Ivana was just a negligible passerby in Leon’s life.

Julia’s hopes were beautiful, but upon seeing Leon’s unfamiliar and slightly cold gaze, she felt as if she had fallen from heaven into an ice cave.

Leon... doesn’t recognize her?

Julia wanted dearly to tell Leon Keane loudly: I’m Julia Sinclair! The Julia you liked so much in high school.

How could Leon Keane forget her!

"Since you know my mother just finished her surgery, as a doctor, you should have pushed her into the ward for proper rest," Leon Keane said coldly.

Julia’s face turned pale suddenly, her mood sinking to the bottom. Leon... never used to blame her before. Now, even though she hadn’t done anything wrong, Leon was blaming her with such a cold attitude.

Julia lowered her head, and her eyes became moist.

A male doctor dressed similarly to Julia walked over; he was the doctor who had just "collaborated" with her in the operating room.

Shelton Hale liked Julia. Seeing her being wronged, he immediately stepped forward and said, "Family member, please mind your words. Dr. Julia Sinclair is only kindly reminding you for your mother’s health."

"Julia," Leon Keane murmured to himself, his dark eyes looking again at Julia.

Upon hearing Leon murmuring her name, Julia’s heart raced like thunder. She lowered her head, her face slightly red, and said to Shelton Hale beside her, "Dr. Hale, this isn’t your concern. Please, attend to your business. Mr. Kane is right; it was my oversight. After the surgery, I should have immediately pushed Mrs. Kane into the ward."

"Step aside."

Julia didn’t raise her head to see Leon’s expression; she said everything she needed to.

She deliberately called Leon’s mother... Aunt Kane.

In the past, when Leon brought her to the Kane family’s old house to meet Mrs. Kane, she first called her Aunt Kane. She remembered every detail of her time with him.

Even if Leon forgot, she’ll help him remember everything now that she’s back.

As Julia pushed Mrs. Kane towards the ward, Mrs. Kane continued to feign crying.

Julia’s lips curled as she glanced at Ian Keane, who was following alongside Mrs. Kane.

Leon didn’t follow them, which left Julia feeling quite disheartened. This proved that Leon held a certain amount of regard for that woman now.

This was a very dangerous signal.

They entered the VIP ward.

Julia comforted Mrs. Kane with a few words, and gradually, she stopped crying. Pretending to cry also takes a toll on one, and Mrs. Kane now felt body discomfort and was extremely fatigued, gasping for deep breaths several times.

Julia ignored Mrs. Kane, her eyes turning to Ian Keane: "Now, you’re the only family member here. I have some things to say to the patient’s family, but I’m not sure if I can discuss them with you. After all... you’re too young."

Ian Keane frowned, his little expression cold just like Leon Keane: "What nonsense? Spill it."

What nonsense?

Is this what a five or six-year-old child says to a doctor?

Julia couldn’t help but chuckle, finding Ian precociously intelligent.

Perhaps it was the decision to win Ian over, even though his attitude remained impolite, Julia chose to ignore the discomfort that attitude brought her.

She tried her best to consider Ian as her future child.

This is a psychology trick many new stepmothers fail at because they can’t get over it.

Seeing Julia lead Ian out, Mrs. Kane remained silent. Leon was simply too much; treating her, his mother, like this for the sake of that vixen Ivana Monroe.

Little Ian had been led astray by Leon lately.

Mrs. Kane really wanted Ian to take her side. If Julia could make Ian stand by her, Mrs. Kane would undoubtedly applaud with both hands, extremely willing.

Outside the VIP ward.

Julia stood high above, looking down at Ian, who seemed like a little dot, with a small smile curling on her lips. As Ian looked up, she withdrew her smile, her expression becoming serious as she spoke to Ian.

"Though your grandmother’s surgery was successful, her situation is not optimistic."

"What do you mean?" Ian asked nervously.

"Ian, do you know? As people age, all of their body’s organs start to decline. Your grandma just had heart bypass surgery, but she also has high blood pressure, high cholesterol, fatty liver, and a series of other problems. Any of these could change at any time, even worsen, threatening her life."

Can a five or six-year-old kid understand this?

Julia turned a small matter into something very grave.

Ian’s gaze suddenly turned frigid, startling Julia.

This child...

"Dr. Julia Sinclair, I now have to question your medical proficiency. May I ask, what elderly person doesn’t suffer, more or less, from the issues you mentioned? If you’re bent on embellishing and sensationalizing in the presence of the patient’s family, I suggest you become a fortune-teller instead of a doctor."

Julia looked at Ian as if she were looking at a freak.

How does he know that most elders have such ailments? Most five or six-year-olds would be clueless about these age-related illnesses, right?

There’s no mistake Ian is young, but it doesn’t mean Julia can mislead him.

When he was just a year old, Mrs. Kane hired a Chinese tutor who plastered words all over the house; by two, he was already learning to read.

As for why he understands old-age ailments?

Because he reads a lot; these common issues frequently appear in books and on TV or radio, making it hard not to know.

Ian no longer wanted to entertain Julia. He turned and walked into the ward, saying to Mrs. Kane, "Grandma, the doctor who operated on you has poor skills. She took me out to talk nonsense! Let’s find another doctor!"
