Chapter 266: Chapter 266: I’m Telling You, Ivana Monroe Is Not Accepted

The driver walked up to Ivana Monroe, his expression a bit complicated: "Ms. Monroe, regardless of what Mrs. Kane has done to you, please be generous and forgive her. Now she misses her son and grandchild so much that she’s bedridden with illness. Please help persuade President Kane!"

"Ms. Monroe, you also have parents and relatives you care about. You surely understand Mrs. Kane’s current longing for her children and grandchildren, don’t you?"

The conversation had reached this point.

If Ivana didn’t help, it would be her fault.

Ivana nodded: "You’re right."

The driver was very surprised; he didn’t expect Ivana to be so agreeable.

Ian Keane had been raised by his grandma. Hearing that his grandma was sick in bed, his handsome little face showed obvious concern.

Ivana could see it and empathized because her bond with her grandpa was the strongest; she would be very worried if she heard her grandpa was sick.

Ivana went to Leon Keane, holding Ian’s little hand, and handed it to Leon: "Take Ian back to see her! I don’t want to be blamed for being an unfilial daughter-in-law."

She and Leon were already married, and even though Mrs. Kane didn’t like her, she couldn’t change the fact that Ivana was her daughter-in-law.

Leon raised an eyebrow without reaching out to take Ian’s little hand.

"Bring Timmy and come back with me," Leon paused and added, "The old house of the Kane family is your home too, and Timmy is also my mom’s grandson."

The driver was anxious inside: President Kane! Aren’t you deliberately trying to upset her by doing this?

The driver didn’t dare to say anything. He knew Leon’s temper and feared it might backfire.

"Timmy and I aren’t going." Seeing Leon’s unpleasant expression, Ivana added, "Your mom is sick, isn’t she? If Timmy and I go now, it’ll only upset her more and worsen her condition. Besides, there will be plenty of opportunities to meet when she gets better. Why rush?"

The driver nodded his head vigorously in his heart, looking at Ivana gratefully.

"Alright then!"

Leon didn’t make things difficult for Ivana. She was so considerate, thinking of his mother, how could he not let her be?

Leon reached out and took Ian’s small hand.

The driver saw Leon relent and felt a sigh of relief.

Leon instructed the driver to take Ivana and Timmy back while he took Ian directly to the Kane family old house.

As soon as Ian got out of the car, he headed straight for Mrs. Kane’s room.

"Grandma."

Mrs. Kane lay in bed, and upon hearing Ian’s tender voice, she felt a rush of joy. Turning her head, she saw the little boy running to her bedside and couldn’t help her eyes from reddening: "Ian... my sweetheart."

Standing by Mrs. Kane’s bedside, Ian saw her outstretched trembling hand and offered his little face, showing concern: "Grandma, I heard you were sick."

As Mrs. Kane touched Ian’s warm little face, she paused, surprised at how the little boy seemed to have changed. He was more lively and even initiated contact and showed concern for her.

What had changed Ian?

Could it be Leon’s presence?

Mrs. Kane was reluctant to admit it, but perhaps it was Ivana who had changed Ian.

When Leon entered the room and saw his mother secretly wiping tears, his feelings were mixed; he knew how much his mother loved Ian, more than she loved him.

He wished deeply that Ian could be by her side.

But she wouldn’t accept Ivana.

Yet, ever since Ian had been with Ivana, his illness hadn’t flared up once.

Even the world’s top doctors and medications couldn’t cure Ian, but Ivana could easily manage him.

What did this mean?

Ivana was Ian’s true remedy.

Leon hoped his mother could accept Ivana, if only for Ian’s sake.

"Grandma’s fine, just missing Ian too much." Mrs. Kane wiped her tears, her eyes red. Seeing Leon’s tall figure appear next to Ian, she shot him a glare.

All blame rested on this unfilial son.

Now that he had a woman, he’d forgotten his mother. Cruelly taking Ian away from her side.

This time, no matter what, she wouldn’t let Ian leave her side again.

"Ian misses Grandma too." Ian suddenly spoke sweetly, and Mrs. Kane’s freshly dried tears were out of control again.

Her precious grandson was so sensible and considerate.

"Good boy, my lovely dear." Mrs. Kane choked out.

"Grandma, you must get better soon! Ian will worry."

"Okay, okay, my dear. With you by Grandma’s side, she’ll recover very soon."

Ian’s eyes reddened slightly after hearing his grandma say he could stay with her. Ian became silent. He indeed wanted to stay with his grandma. But if it meant being apart from his mommy...

In his small heart, Ian rejected the idea.

He adored his mommy and didn’t want to be separated from her.

How could Leon not understand his son’s heart?

Since living with Leon and Ivana, the boy hadn’t mentioned going back to the Kane family old house, as if he forgot he had a loving grandma.

"Ian, are you hungry?" Leon suddenly asked.

Ian looked up at his daddy, wanting to shake his head.

"You must be hungry. Go down and eat. I have something to discuss with Grandma."

Alright then!

Ian left his grandma’s room and obediently headed downstairs to eat.

Ian hadn’t been gone long.

"I have nothing to say to you. You like that witch Ivana. You’re with her every day, and I won’t interfere, but I have one demand: bring Ian back to me, to stay with this poor old lady."

Thinking about it, Mrs. Kane felt so wronged that her eyes blurred with tears again.

Leon sat by the bed, seeing his mother like this, feeling both pained and amused: "Mom, Ian is my son. If you want him with you, don’t you have to discuss it with me first?"

Mrs. Kane was angry: "Ian is my grandson. How many days have you raised him? Since his birth, it’s been me taking care of every mess. Now that Ian is six and doesn’t need care, you want to take my grandson away? Impossible, I’m telling you."

Leon said, "Alright, alright, all the credit is yours. I never intended to take Ian away; I’m your son, and Ian’s your grandson. Both of us have your and Dad’s blood running through us."

"It’s good you know that." Mrs. Kane’s heavy heart lifted a bit; she curiously looked at Leon: "Your attitude suddenly turned so nice. Are you up to something?"

"Let me tell you, I will never accept Ivana. Any woman can become the Kane family’s daughter-in-law, but not Ivana. Just the fact that she’s another man’s ex-wife, our family cannot bear the shame."

If Ivana had been completely innocent, even if her background was a bit lacking, Mrs. Kane wouldn’t be so resolute and heartless.

But Ivana had slept with another man for so many years and was his ex-wife.

Mrs. Kane couldn’t accept such a daughter-in-law.
