Chapter 256: Chapter 256: Isaac Heston, He’ll Be Here Soon
Susan Heston had enough. With a sharp voice, she shouted, "Why should I? Director, make them stop, I want to continue filming. I’m Isaac Heston’s cousin, and if I say we’ll use the recording studio, we will. Even if the Executive President of Calyx Television comes, they have to smile at me for my cousin’s sake."
Director Arnold felt that having a domineering and unreasonable cousin like Susan was really a disgrace to Isaac. Considering Isaac’s good reputation in the industry, Susan was like a rotten apple intent on ruining it.
However, this was a matter between cousins, and Director Arnold, as an outsider, couldn’t say much. Maybe her cousin was willing?
Director Arnold gave a forced smile and said, "The Executive President of Calyx Television isn’t here, right? Sister Zhao is the head of Calyx Television. Susie, give Sister Zhao a little respect. If you don’t, when security comes, do you think they’ll help their internal chief or us, the outsiders borrowing the studio?"
Susan was furious, "Director Arnold, are you kidding me? We’re the outsiders? Sean Vaughn’s mother is a shareholder of Calyx Television. This is Sean Vaughn’s music video. How can we be outsiders? It’s those people who are overestimating themselves, competing for the recording studio with the shareholder’s son’s MV."
Director Arnold was surprised. Where did Susan hear that Sean Vaughn’s mother is a shareholder of Calyx Television? How come he didn’t know about this?
Susan began to lash out at Director Arnold, whose face turned livid as he felt an urge to smash something over her head. But considering the consequences, he held himself back.
Director Arnold’s daughter had just gone to university in the UK and needed a lot of money each year. He was the pillar of the family. In middle age, he felt restricted and dared not offend anyone.
He couldn’t compare to those famous directors because his gambling father would come to him for money whenever he lost. If he didn’t give, his father would cause trouble.
Director Arnold’s reputation was also affected, and after so many years, he was still a little-known small director. Only Sean Vaughn didn’t mind and gave him some work, allowing him to make ends meet.
Sister Zhao frowned; there indeed was a woman with the surname Vaughn among Calyx Television’s shareholders, in her fifties. But Sister Zhao wasn’t sure if that director was Sean Vaughn’s mother.
Sister Zhao felt guilty seeing Director Arnold being insulted on her behalf by Susan Heston.
Sister Zhao knew about Director Arnold’s home situation.
Sister Zhao got angry, "Susan Heston, enough, this is not the place for you to be reckless. If you want to curse someone, go outside! If you don’t leave now, I’ll call security to throw you out. Let’s see if you’re embarrassed then."
Having already offended Susan, Sister Zhao wasn’t afraid to offend her completely. She knew Susan was revengeful. Once you offended her, there was no turning back, and even if you begged her, she wouldn’t let you go; she would only humiliate you further.
Susan cursed at Director Arnold, aiming her anger at Sister Zhao, pointing at her aggressively, "Go ahead! Call security now. I want to see if Calyx Television’s security would dare touch me."
Susan saw Ivana Monroe on the phone, acting as if it had nothing to do with her. She mocked with a smile, "You stupid woman, offending me for that bitch Ivana Monroe, you’re about to lose your job. Look at Ivana, what’s she doing? Staying out of it, still in the mood to make calls!"
Sister Zhao wasn’t swayed by Susan’s taunts, "I’m a staff of Calyx Television, and Ivana is an entrepreneur I invited. I have a responsibility to protect her."
Ivana Monroe hung up the phone, and upon hearing Sister Zhao’s words, a smile spread across her face.
Susan spat, "Deceiving yourself and others, you deserve to lose your job."
Sister Zhao no longer wanted to argue with Susan. She picked up her phone and dialed the security office.
Seeing this, Susan also picked up her phone. After hesitating for a few seconds, she dialed Isaac Heston’s number.
But Isaac’s line was busy. Frustrated, Susan hung up and redialed, but it was still busy.
"Cousin, what the hell are you doing?" Susan muttered, complaining as she repeatedly tried but only got a busy tone.
How long was Isaac going to stay on that call? Annoyed, Susan hung up and told Director Arnold, "Call my cousin’s assistant right now, say I have an emergency, and tell him to hang up and call me immediately."
Director Arnold was reluctant to help Susan make that call. Picking up his phone sluggishly, he saw the battery at five percent. He deliberately ’accidentally’ clicked into some video site, then accidentally played a video with loud trainee music.
Susan glared at Director Arnold, "I told you to make a call, not play music. Are you out of your mind? Didn’t you understand human language?"
Director Arnold understood human language. Was Susan human? No, in his eyes, she was a wild black rat whose mouth only spat out rotten garbage.
"Clicked the wrong thing," he said.
Director Arnold slowly turned off the video. The battery showed two percent. Perfect, he showed his phone to Susan, "My phone’s dead, about to shut down."
So, he couldn’t help her make the call.
Susan cursed, "Are you an idiot?"
Just then, Ivana said, "No need to call Isaac. He’ll be here soon."
Everyone’s attention turned to her like a spotlight.
Sister Zhao paused, looking at Ivana’s calm expression, and a thought crossed her mind—did Ivana know Isaac? Was Ivana’s call earlier to Isaac?
Sister Zhao trembled with excitement.
Director Arnold, already driven to madness by Susan’s insults, blurted out upon hearing Ivana, "Entrepreneur, you know Isaac?"
Director Arnold voiced the question in everyone’s mind.
Susan’s face turned a mix of blue and white, displaying a colorful expression. How could Ivana have Isaac’s phone number?
Susan sharply declared, "You’re lying. After Zachary Heston dumped you, you became a laughingstock of the Heston family. How could my cousin Isaac give you his number? Ivana, don’t embarrass yourself."
Ivana ignored Susan, treating her like air, and said directly to Director Arnold, "We kind of know each other."
What?
Kind of know?
Not a deep connection!
Director Arnold sighed inwardly. Being Isaac’s cousin, Susan would surely get help from him, not Ivana, who only ’kind of knew’ him.
Sister Zhao stopped trembling, a flash of disappointment in her eyes. She had hoped Ivana would say she had a good relationship with Isaac.
Sister Zhao didn’t expect Isaac to scold Susan, just hoped that upon his arrival, he could stop Susan from causing further trouble out of consideration for his ’good relationship’ with Ivana.
In that case, Isaac would also spare her any difficulty for Ivana’s sake.
