Chapter 412: Chapter 412: Bitter Consequences
"Have a cup of coffee first! Kylie, what kind of coffee do you want? It’s on me."
Daisy Taylor saw Kiki Jennings take a seat. She quickly lowered her eyes, feeling extremely nervous, but had to pretend nothing was wrong as her fingers flipped through the coffee menu.
Because this was the "script" Leon Keane had arranged for her, she had to follow the "script" to save her parents.
Kiki, I’m sorry.
Daisy silently added in her heart.
Kiki was full of impatience, originally wanting to curse Daisy; what a lunatic! Invite her to this place for coffee? She wanted that bitch Ivana Monroe dead...wanted Ivana dead...
Did Daisy kill Ivana or not?
If Ivana were dead, there should be news about it.
Kiki thought again, even if Ivana was dead, the news might not release it right away because Leon Keane would suppress the media.
"The thing I asked you to do, how did you do?"
Kiki asked through clenched teeth in a low voice.
Daisy’s fingers trembled as she flipped the coffee menu, calmly saying, "Have a coffee first! Let’s talk after we finish."
Kiki wanted to say, "Drink your damn coffee!"
Kiki was very irritable; had Daisy really not killed Ivana?
Kiki felt like slapping Daisy and asked in a low voice, "Daisy, tell the truth, you didn’t do anything to Ivana, did you?"
Daisy paused her fingers, lifted her face, and looked at Kiki, somewhat puzzled: "Huh? Kylie, what are you talking about? I can’t hear you. By the way, Kylie, don’t you feel uncomfortable with your sunglasses and mask on? Take them off! Let’s drink coffee first; this place isn’t suitable for discussing those things. We’ll talk after we’ve finished."
If Daisy hadn’t said the last part, Kiki really suspected Daisy was sent by Ivana to set her up.
The waiter came over, placing exquisite desserts and ice cream on the table: "Forest Fairy, Squirrel Cheesecake, and Häagen-Dazs ice cream fondue, please enjoy."
The intense sweet cream flavor wafted into Kiki’s nose, awakening the craving in her stomach.
Forest Fairy is her favorite, hadn’t eaten it for a long time.
Kiki swallowed, removed her mask, picked up the Forest Fairy, and began eating. While eating, she found the sunglasses annoying, so she took them off too, thinking it should be fine with her head down, given there are no cameras here; she would put them back on after eating.
"I’ll have a vanilla latte," Daisy said. "Kylie, what coffee do you want?"
"Brown sugar latte," Kiki said while eating the cake.
Daisy handed the coffee menu to the waiter.
After collecting it, the waiter said, "Okay, one vanilla latte, one brown sugar latte."
Kiki finished the cake and ate two ice cream scoops.
The waiter brought over the lattes; she lifted her own cup and sipped it with satisfaction.
"Kylie, stop it!"
Daisy abruptly said.
Kiki was enjoying her coffee, and Daisy suddenly said something to spoil the mood, making Kiki very upset.
"Are you crazy?"
"I’m not crazy; I am perfectly sane, which is why I’m telling you this." Daisy said, "My uncle jumped into the river to commit suicide because he mistakenly thought you were gone. My aunt also walked into desperation because she thought both you and my uncle were gone. You have an irrefutable responsibility for this! Because you’re still alive, you chose to hide in the shadows to take revenge on Ivana, making everyone believe you were dead, leading to this tragedy."
"Kylie, you can’t dump all the blame on Ivana."
Kiki was shocked, looking at Daisy: "Are you out of your mind? How much did Ivana give you to speak for her like this?"
Daisy’s eyes instantly reddened, laughing sarcastically: "Benefits? Kiki, you have the gall to say Ivana gave me benefits? You asked me to kill Ivana. I almost got caught helping you and thrown into prison."
Kiki understood immediately; no wonder Daisy was acting strange today, turns out she didn’t succeed, this useless thing, can’t even do a job properly, and she’s daring to blame her?
If she were to get caught and thrown into prison, she could only blame Daisy for being so useless.
Anyone slightly cleverer would have used the advantages of being a nurse long ago to get rid of Ivana.
Kiki’s eyes flashed with disgust. She took two more sips of the latte: "So, you don’t want to help me anymore?"
Is this the reason Daisy invited her to the coffee shop?
Daisy’s eyes flickered as she said, "Yes, I can’t help you anymore. If you want to deal with Ivana, do it yourself! I have my parents, and they’re old; I can’t make the mistake of getting imprisoned helping you."
Kiki’s hands tightened on the coffee cup, wanting to throw the scalding coffee at Daisy’s face.
What did she promise her yesterday?
So how can she just change her mind like this?
Furious.
Kiki spoke darkly: "Daisy, a person should have a conscience. How did my parents help you back then? You know very well in your heart. How did you agree to me yesterday? Have you forgotten so quickly?"
Daisy bowed her head: "About this... I really can’t help you."
Kiki was seething in anger, unable to do anything to Daisy here, fearing others would notice.
Kiki furiously said: "Daisy, don’t think... if you don’t help me, I absolutely won’t let you off; I’ll make sure to drag you down with me."
Daisy was shocked, looking at Kiki: "You... you’re being unreasonable."
Kiki sneered: "Reason? How much is reason worth? What I want is Ivana dead, do you understand? I want her dead..."
Kiki lowered her head, rummaged through her bag, and pulled out two packets of drugs, handing them to Daisy: "These are both poisons. You can put them in Ivana’s medication or in her food. I don’t care how you do it, but tomorrow I want news of Ivana’s death."
"Otherwise... I’ll do something terrible to you."
"And I won’t spare your parents either."
Daisy widened her eyes, thinking Kiki was beyond saving; her guilt towards Kiki gradually disappeared.
Since Kiki is ruthless to her, she won’t be soft towards Kiki.
Daisy silently stared at Kiki without speaking.
Kiki couldn’t understand Daisy’s expression; she threatened her like this, wasn’t Daisy supposed to be scared? Plead with her? Or get angry?
At least have a "normal" expression.
Daisy’s calm, silent expression made Kiki very irritable.
Suddenly.
Numerous flashes targeted Kiki.
The "customers" in the café all held cameras, rushing over.
Kiki’s face instantly turned pale.
Those who rushed over, where were they "customers"?
They were clearly journalists.
Kiki glared fiercely at Daisy, saying with hatred: "Daisy, you bitch, you’re helping Ivana against me?"
