Bai Ran pursed her lips, remaining silent.
"I have found a way to resurrect her. Now, all I need is a drop of divine-demon blood," Dongfang Wuji gazed at the person in the ice coffin with tenderness.
He then looked up at Bai Ran, "You possess the divine-demon physique. A single drop of your blood is divine-demon blood."
Divine-demon physique... She knitted her brows. "Did you investigate my parents?"
Upon hearing this, Jing Feng guiltily averted his gaze. The truth was, the Venerable Lord had already thoroughly investigated Miss Bai's background...
Dongfang Wuji lowered his head. "I apologize..."
"To my knowledge, the divine-demon physique is merely a legend. A union between a god and a demon would be impossible to conceive, wouldn't it?" Bai Ran looked at him directly.
Dongfang Wuji nodded. "Indeed, a union of gods and demons could not have conceived a child. Even if by chance a child were conceived, it would not survive."
"Yet, you are undeniably of the divine-demon physique..." he looked at Bai Ran, his expression solemn and earnest. "Perhaps your existence itself is a miracle."
Bai Ran curved her lips into a smile. So, her parents were a union of god and demon?
"Jing Feng, is the union of gods and demons disdained by the people of the divine realm?"
Jing Feng hesitated for a moment before nodding. "In the divine realm, the gods consider themselves superior, believing those from the demon realm are not worthy of those from the divine realm. If a god and a demon were to fall in love, it would be a great mockery."
Bai Ran narrowed her eyes. No wonder her mother was called a demoness... and she herself was called a jinx...
According to the memories from the second layer of the seal, her younger brother, Bai Ze, had perfectly inherited their father's divine realm bloodline. From birth, he was accompanied by auspicious clouds and was beloved by all beings.
She, however, had inherited bloodlines from both parents, blending into a half-god, half-demon child.
She wasn't human... likely due to this bloodline.
"Miss Bai... I don't know how you were born or how you managed to survive..." Jing Feng hesitated, looking at Bai Ran.
There had been instances of god-demon unions in the world, but never had a child been born and grown so healthily. This was unprecedented since the creation of the heavens and earth...
Bai Ran pondered, then looked at Dongfang Wuji. "I can give you a drop of blood."
Dongfang Wuji rejoiced, then heard her continue, "However, you must first divine a hex for me."
"Divination?" He looked at Bai Ran with confusion. "What kind of hex?"
Her lips parted slightly. "Calculate the connection between the three souls and six spirits within me and that Hundred Miles Divine Lord."
Jing Feng startled. "Three souls and six spirits?"
Bai Ran curved her lips into a smile. "The second layer of the seal within me has been broken, and I have gained more memories concerning the Hundred Miles Divine Lord."
But what she was unsure of was whether that Hundred Miles Divine Lord had deceived her.
In her memories, he had clearly stated that once the cycle of reincarnation ended, she, Bai Ran, would disappear from the world, and her three souls and six spirits would dissipate into the heavens and earth.
Yet, after these several cycles of reincarnation, the souls within her had become increasingly stable and powerful.
This time, she had even carried over memories from her previous life into the reincarnation.
Dongfang Wuji glanced at Jing Feng, conflicted. What if the Venerable Lord found out Miss Bai was curious about the Hundred Miles Divine Lord? He would likely tear apart the demon realm.
"I haven't fallen for him, so you don't need to worry about Long Jin Han," Bai Ran replied indifferently, seemingly having read his thoughts.
Dongfang Wuji sighed. "Very well, I will divine a hex for you then."
He formed a hand seal and chanted softly. "Miss Bai, give me your hand."
Bai Ran extended her hand and placed it gently on Dongfang Wuji's.
Before their eyes, hazy black energy appeared, condensing into a black mirror. The images within the mirror constantly shifted, eventually stopping.
Dongfang Wuji frowned. "The hex indicates that the Hundred Miles Divine Lord does indeed have a significant influence on Miss Bai's soul."
"However... it is a considerable benefit."
"A considerable benefit? What does that mean?" Jing Feng couldn't help but ask.
"It suggests that the Hundred Miles Divine Lord may have done something. Originally, Miss Bai's soul was extremely prone to dissipation, but after his intervention, her soul has instead become stable."
"Miss Bai, may I ask a question? Did you recall the Hundred Miles Divine Lord when the seal was broken?" Jing Feng asked, looking at her.
"That's right. He said I was a jinx, so he killed me and cast me into endless reincarnation," Bai Ran said.
Dongfang Wuji's expression turned grave. "Perhaps it was this reincarnation that allowed Miss Bai to escape calamity."
"What do you mean?" Bai Ran looked at Dongfang Wuji.
"Originally, after your death, due to your divine-demon physique, your soul would have been extremely prone to dissipation. However, the Hundred Miles Divine Lord captured your soul and sent it into reincarnation promptly."
"The Hundred Miles Divine Lord is helping Miss Bai stabilize her soul! Preventing her soul from leaving her body!" Jing Feng exclaimed, as if discovering a great secret.
Dongfang Wuji's face was grim. Indeed, the only way to prevent the soul from leaving the body was to send the deceased into reincarnation as quickly as possible.
Bai Ran knitted her brows. If the Hundred Miles Divine Lord was helping her, why did he kill her?
If he was helping her, why did he make her mother misunderstand him?
One mystery solved led to more mysteries...
A convoluted truth...
It was too complex. Bai Ran's head began to ache from thinking.
She pricked her finger, letting a drop of blood fall into a bottle. Just as Bai Ran was about to hand the bottle over, a surge of black energy erupted from Dongfang Wuji's body.
"Divine-demon blood! It's divine-demon blood!"
Bai Ran startled and immediately retracted the bottle. "Dongfang Wuji, who is the ghost possessing you?"
He blinked. "What ghost?"
Bai Ran frowned. "There is the soul of a deceased person residing in your body."
Dongfang Wuji blinked. Could it be the voice he heard?
"Quick! Quick, hand it over! With this drop of divine-demon blood, I can be resurrected!"
"Who are you?" Bai Ran narrowed her eyes.
Silence. A long silence. The voice did not speak again.
"I thought I was hallucinating. So, someone is living inside me?" Dongfang Wuji's heart pounded.
"Come out," Bai Ran's pupils turned blood red, and dark, ghostly energy began to coil around Dongfang Wuji.
"I'm coming out, I'm coming out!"
A mass of dark shadow shot out from his body and hovered before Bai Ran.
"Spare me, Ghost King!" the voice trembled. "I just wanted a drop of divine-demon blood..."
"Why have you not reincarnated?" Bai Ran looked at him directly.
The dark shadow shivered, its voice much quieter. "I have unfinished business..."
"A wandering spirit, no matter how great the grievance, is not permitted to linger in the mortal world," a cold voice rang out. The dark shadow trembled even more violently.
"Still not leaving?" Bai Ran's voice was icy.
"Ghost King..." the dark shadow hesitated, then spoke, "My wife's name is Wang Yu. If you were to meet her..."
"Could you please kill her?"
