Chapter 362 We Both Deserve Better

Fu Xin Ci didn't know when she fell asleep. Perhaps she was tired from crying, or perhaps her worries had finally subsided. She slept very soundly.

After daylight broke, Ning Er tiptoed over and opened a crack in the door. The young girl on the kang, her ink-black hair scattered on the pillow, had a porcelain-white sleeping face that was serene and beautiful.

Ning Er really wanted to wake his sister, but he was accidentally scooped up from behind by Chun Yu and whisked away from the small building.

Ning Er thought Chun Yu was playing with him and was about to burst into laughter when he saw Han Xue standing nearby, secretly waving to him.

Ning Er was an understanding and well-behaved child. He quickly covered his little mouth with his chubby hands.

His sister couldn't play with him. Ning Er, a little disappointed, let Chun Yu put him down. He wanted to find Fang Shi, "Mom, my sister is sleeping like a little pig today. I peeked through the door crack twice, and she didn't wake up."

Fang Shi guessed that her daughter was probably tired these past few days and told her youngest son not to disturb her.

"Your sister must be tired. Ning Er, don't go wake her up. Let her sleep a bit longer."

"Don't worry, Mom, Ning Er understands." Although the little fellow was unhappy, he answered loudly.

These past few days in Long Cheng had been difficult. Today, the rain finally stopped, but the sky hadn't cleared yet.

Looking at the gloomy sky, which looked like it could pour down rain at any moment, the captain's brows were furrowed into a deep frown.

"Captain," Yang Xin Jie, who was usually very steady, stood behind the captain, also looking bewildered.

"Don't worry, even if the sky falls, we'll have the big guys to hold it up for us."

"What the captain said is great. I'll stand by the captain's side then."

"Why stand by my side? I'm not tall enough," the captain said, deliberately spreading his legs and squatting into an ungraceful, outward-facing stance.

"I can't!" Xu Jia Can quickly covered her eyes. "Captain, your pose is really unbearable to look at. Even if you want to make fun of yourself, you should do it differently. We really can't take it."

"I can't bear it, it's too blinding," Xiao Ai also yelped, asking the captain to stand up straight quickly.

"You have legs all the way down your neck, but you insist on walking like a duck. It's so ugly. Captain, doing this will affect our aesthetics," Xu Ru Yi also started to roast him mercilessly.

Pang Dun Er was even more dramatic, "Heavens, earth, which angel sister, please come save us poor children! Our captain has gone mad."

After Pang Dun Er finished speaking, he was afraid everyone wouldn't laugh, so he mimicked the captain's previous stance and took a few steps.

"Oh my god! People say 'when it's dark, close your eyes.' What is this you're doing?" Xiao Ai thought, "We should go to the trading hall as soon as possible. I want to see Xin Ci soon to wash my eyes."

"I think so too."

"Then why are you still standing around?"

After they finished speaking, they dashed to the trading hall.

"Hey, hey! You guys are too unkind, wait for me." Pang Dun Er yelled as he chased after them, kicking his legs.

However, being such a heavy contestant, it was quite a struggle for him to keep up with the ones in front.

The captain was quite enthusiastic today. He thought they had arrived early. As they rushed into the trading hall, they saw it was already packed.

Seeing the people from Long Teng arrive, everyone made way. The Lord of Qilin City was the first to greet them, "Long Teng, you've arrived."

"Yes, we wanted to come early to take a look. But we didn't expect everyone to be here earlier than us."

"Yes, everyone came quite early."

Others also came to greet their companions. For a while, people were coming and going, making the trading hall even livelier.

As night fell, the trading hall was brightly lit. The base leader's family of three, after dinner, also arrived late.

"How is it? Has Fu Xiao Niu started contacting us?"

"Not yet."

"Is it a bit late today?"

"Don't talk nonsense, it's not late at all. We came early."

"Yes, we came over as soon as the rain stopped."

"I feel like it's better to stay here than at home, so I rushed over."

"Me too. It's more reassuring to stay here than at home. There are more people here, and we can encourage each other."

At this point, everyone was speaking their true feelings. Even if you said something cowardly or humble, no one would laugh at you.

Because everyone felt pretty much the same. The only difference was that some people said it, and some didn't.

"It's not that he doesn't want to say it, it's that he doesn't know how to say it."

This rain had lasted for several days, dampening the glimmer of hope that many had held.

Just like now, some people were squatting at the entrance of the trading hall, staring blankly at the small puddles outside.

Before the apocalypse, children would definitely have gone to splash in the water. Even some irresponsible adults (to put it nicely, they had a childlike innocence) might have jumped in to splash around when passing by, getting covered in mud, and calling it a way to relive their childhood.

What a joke. The truth was, they couldn't get over it. They were often beaten for this as children, and now that they were grown up, they could finally have their way. Now that they were in charge, why wouldn't they go crazy?

Doing anything else would be a waste of time and resources, but this only cost some water and electricity, which was a great deal.

...

Fu Xin Ci was unaware that the people in Long Cheng were anxiously waiting.

She hadn't expected that after a whole night and a day, her space was still in the process of upgrading.

Waiting was torture. The longer you waited, the more unbearable it became.

However, the captain didn't feel the same way. After a long night of waiting, he had initially felt like every day was a year, just like everyone else.

But as soon as daylight broke, he felt a sudden sense of enlightenment.

While most people were in a daze, not knowing what to do, he called his companions to go out with him.

"Captain?" Yang Xin Jie saw the light on the captain's face, and the gloom in her heart instantly disappeared.

"Think carefully. Of all the places we've been, which ones have relatively intact houses?"

Seeing his companions looking at him blankly, the captain lowered his voice and explained to them.

"I mean, places with intact doors and windows."

"Captain, I think our dormitory doors and windows are the most intact."

"Nonsense. I also think our dormitory doors and windows are the best, but we can't just take them from them. That would be too impolite."

"Captain." His companions heard the unusual tone and stared at the captain with wide eyes.

"Listen carefully. We want doors and windows that are ownerless, and furniture and such. Oh, and pots and pans."

"Captain, what are you doing? I feel like you're going to wreck the place."

"Are you stupid? You're the one wrecking the place. Remember, we want good ones, good ones, do you hear me?"
