"Ah! Let go of me, don't cling to me, get away!"
Ying Qiang struggled with all his might, but still couldn't break free from the little female ghost's hands.
The little female ghost grinned sinisterly, a ghastly smile, and made a "heh heh heh" sound, "Brother, play with me, do you want to play together?"
"Get lost! Stay away from me!"
The little female ghost lowered her head and cried, "But brother, you said you wanted to play together, why? Why?"
Ying Qiang kicked the girl in the stomach and roared, "Let go of me! Who knows why! Go find your brother, don't bother me!"
"Let's play together, let's play together."
As the little female ghost spoke, she tried to wrap herself around Ying Qiang entirely.
"No, don't!"
Ying Qiang wailed inwardly. He had all this muscle, yet he couldn't even escape a frail little female ghost.
"Ying Qiang, I found a diary... My heavens, she is, she is..."
"Stop reading, hurry and save me!"
Yue Di looked at the little girl clinging tightly to Ying Qiang with disbelief. He had seen the girl's memorial tablet at the place where he found the diary, which meant the one clinging to Ying Qiang was a ghost.
Seeing Yue Di do nothing, Ying Qiang grew anxious. While kicking the little girl fiercely, he yelled at Yue Di, "You t—"
After the two of them stepped through the door of the ninth carriage, they found themselves in this dilapidated house. The house was rundown and old, with only a living room and a small bedroom.
The already small living room was further sectioned off by a curtain, creating an even smaller space. Inside, there was a two-tiered wooden bed. Thus, they concluded that this house used to be inhabited by a family of four, a couple and two children.
The door of the dilapidated house could be opened. After going outside, they discovered that the dungeon instance they were in was larger than they had initially imagined.
It was an entire dormitory building, six floors in total, with at least twenty units on each floor.
The two of them separated and checked from top to bottom. Apart from the dilapidated house where they initially were, only two houses at the very end of the same floor and three houses in the middle of the floor above could be opened. No matter what methods they tried, the rest remained inaccessible.
Ying Qiang recounted everything he had seen since entering this place and finally concluded.
That little female ghost must be one of the children from the first house they entered. The mission they needed to complete was likely related to this little female ghost and the other families whose doors could be opened.
However, what was the connection, and what were the conditions for completing the mission, they couldn't guess at all.
The two fell silent, each lost in thought.
Suddenly, Yue Di gasped and turned to Ying Qiang, saying, "I remember, there were a few sentences in that diary that read, 'He is not my brother, he is like them, all devils, and he is the biggest one.' The diary belonged to the little female ghost just now, so who are 'brother' and 'them' that she is referring to?"
Ying Qiang's lips twitched, and he guessed, "Brother is just brother, right? 'Them'? Maybe, it refers to her parents?"
Yue Di shook his head, "I don't think so. If it were her parents, why didn't she directly say 'Mom and Dad' like she did for 'brother'? Why use 'them'?"
"Because," Ying Qiang attempted to explain, "because parents are elders, and she must have been afraid of her parents, so she didn't dare to say it directly in the diary."
"That's still not right," Yue Di frowned. "The diary says, 'he is the biggest one.' This 'he' clearly refers to her brother, so compared to 'them,' she fears her brother more."
Ying Qiang huffed impatiently, "Alright, alright, everything I say is wrong. Then you tell me, who are 'them'?"
As soon as Ying Qiang finished speaking, a gust of cold wind blew open the window that had been closed. The broken clock on the wall pointed exactly to twelve o'clock. It was as if something was floating in, one after another, through the open window.
The two of them, scared, quickly ran to the wall and leaned against it. Ying Qiang was puzzled: was that clock working? Why hadn't he noticed it before?
