Chapter 392 Revealing the Deepest Secret in the Heart
Gong Wenxing understood what the Captain meant. If his father were here, he wouldn't abandon a living person.
"Actually, Wenliang and I were going to find my dad today. We can take Zhizhi with us then. But you have to come with us. After seeing the doctor, you need to bring her back immediately, as the Zi family won't keep outsiders."
Gong Aidang was already apprehensive of people like Zi Yisheng, but he couldn't refuse. He could only nod in agreement.
He walked back into the crowd and shouted loudly.
"We're taking Zhang Chunli to find Zhizhi. You all must return to the cave before dark. Also, please notify my family and Wenxing's wife."
As long as they weren't forced to carry people all over the mountain, the remaining villagers had no objections. Nothing was more important than finding food.
Thus, the three of Gong Aidang took turns carrying Zhang Chunli. She was still groggy and couldn't tell them where the other two were. They could only save one person at a time.
Ye Shengyuan was currently planting grain in her space. Ye Mu'en was, as usual, guarding the temporarily built toilet. Zi Yisheng was still watching at the cave entrance.
During this time, Ye Mu'en and Zi Yisheng's gazes met countless times. However, both were people with extremely strong mental fortitude, their eyes remaining placid. Only they knew what was truly in their hearts.
Ye Shengyuan was trying to do the most work in the limited time. If she didn't hurry to plant grain, the shortage in the black market would be too great once the rain stopped. She wouldn't be going to Mi Province for a while; everything would have to come from her space.
Ye Shengyuan felt a sense of crisis more intensely than ever before. Although she always kept some grain in her space, that was her last resort for emergencies, so Ye Shengyuan rarely touched it.
She had been on the mountain for thirteen days. She was supposed to harvest 200 tons of grain every ten days, but she had only harvested fifty tons so far. This wasn't even enough for the black market of one city. Therefore, she had to plant desperately.
"Shengyuan, is it ready?"
Upon hearing her elder brother's voice, Ye Shengyuan quickly came out. When she got engrossed in her work, she lost track of time, so her brother always calculated the time and called her out.
"Done, done."
As soon as Ye Shengyuan came out, Ye Mu'en draped another rain cloth over her. He then bent down and carried her on his back. Without a word, he reached the cave entrance and handed her over to Zi Yisheng.
Zi Yisheng was used to this. He first carried her to his bed, took off her shoes, and started to soak her feet. But today, Zi Yisheng's fingers brushed against a few awnings that had lodged into the fabric of her pant leg.
Ye Shengyuan saw them at the same time and her heart skipped a beat. She had come out in such a hurry that she hadn't noticed she had left "evidence."
Zi Yisheng subtly cupped the awnings in his palm, a smile on his face.
"Don't say anything. I'll go get you some water."
Ye Shengyuan watched Zi Yisheng's retreating back and lowered her head, covering her face. It was over. It seemed she wouldn't have to wait until after they were married to tell him. Her disguise had been blown, and she couldn't blame anyone.
Looking at the man who was still preparing a foot bath for her, Ye Shengyuan made up her mind. She would take this gamble. Even if she was betrayed, it would be her own fault for not guarding her secret well.
"No need to soak them. Take me out again."
Zi Yisheng looked up at Ye Shengyuan. Seeing the determination in her eyes, he pursed his lips. He sighed and said,
"You've already been out today. Let's wait until tomorrow."
"I can't wait. Today!"
Once Ye Shengyuan made a decision, she didn't want to delay any longer. The sooner she told him, the sooner she could release the burden on her heart and face the unknown future with a clear conscience.
Zi Yisheng took a large coat of his from the bed and wrapped it around Ye Shengyuan. He then put on her shoes for her and bent down slightly.
Ye Shengyuan leaned against his sturdy back, her heart pounding a little faster.
Ye Mu'en saw the situation and walked over. Without a word, he asked his sister with his eyes.
Ye Shengyuan nodded. Ye Mu'en hesitated for a moment, picked up a rain cloth, and handed Zi Yisheng a large umbrella.
"Hurry back."
The two walked out into the rain. Zi Yisheng arrived at the toilet, and Ye Shengyuan rolled her eyes behind him.
"Find a place where no one is around and we can take shelter from the rain."
Zi Yisheng had already scouted the area. He walked for more than ten minutes, carrying Ye Shengyuan, before reaching a small cave.
Ye Shengyuan directly took a flashlight from her space and illuminated the path inside the cave.
Zi Yisheng's body visibly stiffened. He knew that the little girl hadn't brought a flashlight with her before they came out.
"This is your secret?"
"Yes. Put me down."
Zi Yisheng threw the umbrella on the ground and took the flashlight from Ye Shengyuan's hand, sweeping it around the cave. He then placed Ye Shengyuan at the innermost part of the cave.
The two faced each other. Although the light was dim, they could see the pupils of each other's eyes.
"My secret is the 'Sleeve Dimension,' a warehouse that grows within my body."
After saying that, Ye Shengyuan took out another flashlight from her space.
Zi Yisheng's surprise was evident. His palms began to sweat, and his whole body trembled slightly.
"Does it hurt you every time you take something out?"
"No, I control it with my thoughts."
Zi Yisheng pulled her into his embrace, holding her very tightly. Ye Shengyuan felt his trembling and patted his back to comfort him.
"I saw this warehouse in a dream. At first, I thought it was just a dream. Later, I noticed things would suddenly disappear, and slowly, I figured it all out.
Perhaps it was a gift from a deity, giving me a place to store my wealth and supplies."
Zi Yisheng had a myriad of questions but didn't know how to ask them.
Ye Shengyuan saw this. She had discussed her space with her parents and elder brother before. Transmigration was absolutely forbidden, and so was mentioning that the space could be used for planting.
"When I first got the warehouse, it was already filled with a lot of grain and some supplies I hadn't seen before. What I took out for the black market was from its inventory, but after so much consumption, there isn't much left."
Zi Yisheng looked at the grain the little girl had taken out again, and his heart gradually calmed down.
"Only Uncle Ye, Aunt Bai, and your elder brother know about the warehouse?"
"Yes, my elder brother and father are very perceptive. They discovered something was amiss not long after finding me, so I didn't keep it from them."
"Then don't mention it anymore. I understand now why you kept it from me. This is something that can arouse greed in people. No one else should ever know about it."
Zi Yisheng suddenly extended his hand, his expression extremely serious.
"I, Zi Yisheng, swear that if I ever betray Ye Shengyuan, may lightning strike me and may I die a terrible death!"
Ye Shengyuan didn't really care about these oaths. If someone truly wanted to betray her, no oath would be effective.
"I believe you. Besides, even if someone wanted to get it, it would be useless. Even I haven't figured out where this thing is hidden."
"That's good. Use it less in the future. We don't lack grain and supplies. From now on, just treat it as a place for you to store money."
