Chapter 151 The Old Man Who Was Threatened
Ye Mu'en took Wan Qiong's household registration book the next day and went to the post office to collect the three remittances. Two were for ten thousand each, and one was for twenty thousand. The sender of the twenty thousand was her uncle, truly generous.
Ye Shenge, like a money grubber, collected all the money into her space. This was far more than she had earned in the black market. If more bad guys appeared, she would quickly become a little rich woman.
Ten days had passed, and everyone returned home early that night, wanting to be with Ye Shenge as she detoxified.
Ye Shenge had changed into comfortable clothes early, and Mother Ye stayed in the room with her. Wei Ting had also completed all preparations.
The downstairs living room was also filled with people, not a single one speaking, for fear of disturbing the treatment upstairs.
"Are you scared, girl?"
Old Fan held Ye Shenge's wrist, chatted leisurely, and felt her pulse.
Ye Shenge looked at the people in the room; they seemed more nervous than she was.
"I'm not scared. Don't you all great masters have me covered? I'll just consider it a nap."
"Hahaha, that's right, just a nap."
Old Dang subtly inserted a needle into Ye Shenge's neck. Ye Shenge fainted before she even felt anything, her last conscious thought praising Old Dang's needle technique.
Mother Ye held her daughter's hand nervously. Seeing Old Dang suddenly insert the needle, her heart skipped a beat.
"Mrs. Ye, there's no need to worry. We've handled over twenty cases like this before; there won't be any accidents."
"Yes, thank you all for your trouble."
Following that, dense silver needles were inserted into Ye Shenge's body. Old Fan made small incisions on all ten of Ye Shenge's fingers and toes.
Dark blood soon began to well up. Old Wei quickly held a glass bottle to catch the blood for future research.
Ye Shenge soon fell into a dream, watching the original owner's life like an observer. She also saw how the original owner had saved Mo Lin and Xiao Tiantian, and her lost memories were recovered.
However, at the age of twelve, the little girl was grabbed by the mouth and sedated on her way home from school, then taken away. This was her only disappearance, lasting for ten consecutive days.
The little girl opened her eyes to find herself lying on a hospital bed, with several doctors wearing masks and white coats beside her.
They didn't speak, and the little girl couldn't speak either. She could only tremble as they repeatedly inserted needles into her, administered infusions, and fed her medicine.
The little girl remained drowsy, occasionally hearing voices.
"How are the experimental results?"
"This girl's body is not good; she cannot continue the experiment. She can only lose a segment of her memory at most; it's impossible to train her into the person you want."
"Then give up, but she is important; don't let her die."
Ye Shenge woke up with a splitting headache. As soon as she opened her eyes, she felt like vomiting and quickly leaned over the bed to throw up.
"Xiao Ge'er, what's wrong?"
"Hurry, someone!"
Footsteps and the sound of doors opening followed.
Ye Shenge trembled uncontrollably as she vomited, her headache so severe she couldn't see clearly who was in front of her. Hearing her mother's anxious voice, she wanted to reach out and comfort her but had no strength.
"Don't rush, don't rush. Let Old Dang take a look first."
Someone gently wiped her mouth, carefully helped her lie down, and held both her wrists.
"Don't worry, this is a reaction to the medication. Perhaps Shenge's body is resistant to some medicines; she'll be fine after resting for two days."
Ye Shenge's vision blurred, and she didn't even have the strength to speak. She only felt someone gently massaging her head, and soon she lost consciousness again.
For two whole days, the villa was filled with Ye Shenge's carefree sleep. The remaining people were filled with anxiety and restlessness.
Father Ye wished he could tear down the roof. Mother Ye sat by the side, silently shedding tears. Ye Mu'en lowered his head, lost in thought.
Zi Yisheng's usual smile was gone; his lips were tightly pressed, and his fists were clenched.
"Tonight is the deadline."
Old Dang and Old Wei were both startled by Zi Yisheng's words, their legs feeling weak.
Old Fan couldn't stand it anymore. These laypeople only knew how to scare people and act crazy. They had already said the person was fine, yet they were still threatening them.
"Shen Ge is just sleeping; she is undergoing self-repair. She'll be fine even if she sleeps for another two days. We wouldn't harm her."
Zi Yisheng's gaze towards Old Fan turned even colder. He didn't believe any of their assurances unless the girl woke up immediately. He dared not imagine what would happen if the girl never woke up again. Would he lose that cherished hope once more?
"Only until midnight tonight."
The three old men exchanged glances, and helplessly picked up their medicine boxes and went upstairs again. They could only hope that their little ancestor would wake up quickly, or they wouldn't see them again.
Ye Mu'en regretted for the first time that he hadn't asked his sister to prepare some well water earlier, at least to help with her recovery.
Han Yuyan, who was the least noticeable, looked up at Ye Shenge's room, a barely perceptible dark glint reappearing in his eyes.
Dinner was prepared, but no one ate it. Some had no appetite, while others were too afraid.
Ye Shenge woke up to pain this time. As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw her master's magnified old face, which startled her.
"Master, your face has too many wrinkles."
Old Fan was so choked that he lost the joy of his disciple waking up.
"Hmph, ungrateful wretch, I like having wrinkles on my face."
Old Fan thought of Zi Yisheng's threatening words and immediately put on a wronged expression.
"Little disciple, if you had woken up half an hour later, you would have been collecting your master's corpse."
Ye Shenge, not understanding, tried to sit up but felt a needle moving above her head. She pointed to her head.
"So, I was pricked awake?"
Old Fan awkwardly touched his nose and quickly reached out to remove the silver needles.
"Well, Zi Shao threatened us, saying that if you didn't wake up by midnight tonight, he'd take our lives, the three old men."
Old Dang nodded in agreement nearby, while Old Wei smiled without saying a word.
Ye Shenge sat up, rubbing her aching head, listening to her master complain.
"How many days have I slept?"
"Two days."
Ye Shenge looked at her master's aggrieved expression and burst into laughter. She reached out and squeezed her master's hand, comforting him.
"I'll find an opportunity to avenge you, okay?"
Old Fan's eyes immediately lit up. Don't think he couldn't see it; that Zi Yisheng fellow clearly had designs on his disciple. How dare he threaten him? He'd let his disciple get revenge for him.
"Mhm, mhm, you must avenge us. How old are we, and yet we're being lectured like children."
"What's wrong with Old Fan?"
Old Fan was in the middle of his performance when the door was pushed open, and a group of people streamed in.
Seeing the first person to enter, Old Fan immediately fell silent and stood beside his disciple, seeking protection.
"Xiao Ge'er, you're finally awake. You've made your mother worry herself to death."
Old Fan was quickly pushed to the edge of the circle by the crowd and quickly made his escape, very disloyally leaving Old Dang and Old Wei behind.
