Chapter 106 The First Meeting
Ye Mu'en ignored his suddenly acting friend and pulled out a chair, his expression serious.
"Everything I'm about to tell you, do not tell anyone, or we're done being friends."
"What the hell, that serious?"
"Ye Shenggo is very important to me and my family. More important than my life. As for the reasons, I can't tell you yet. When I can, I definitely will."
Han Yuyan also dropped his flippant demeanor, sat up straight, and his expression grew serious. He knew Mu Zi never joked about things like this.
"Alright, I understand. But you have to answer one question for me first."
Ye Mu'en nodded, urging him to speak quickly.
"Are you going to pursue Ye Shenggo?"
Ye Mu'en immediately kicked Han Yuyan. What was this guy talking about?
"Put away your silly thoughts. I'm not going after Ye Shenggo, and neither will you."
"Why? Am I not handsome? Or is my family background not good enough? I'm quite popular with the young ladies in Mingcheng, you know."
Ye Mu'en glanced at Han Yuyan with disdain. With that foolish look, he wasn't worthy of his sister. His precious girl deserved someone strong enough to protect her, someone who would cherish her deeply. Han Yuyan himself lived a life of confusion, let alone protect his sister.
"Not handsome, not good enough, and stupid. Anyway, don't even think about it."
Han Yuyan pouted in disagreement but said nothing more. How would he know if he didn't try?
"Back to the main point. I've found Ye Shenggo, and I'll be staying in Qishi for a while. If you're not planning to start work immediately, stay and help me. I'm short-handed right now. However, if you stay, anything I ask you to do cannot be revealed to anyone, not even your family."
"Okay, I'll stay and help. I'm a free agent right now anyway, it's all the same wherever I am."
Ye Mu'en leaned in and whispered a few words into Han Yuyan's ear, then patted his friend's shoulder and left the room. He still had many things to handle.
Han Yuyan looked surprised for a few seconds before returning to normal. He adopted the serious demeanor of his past missions and also got up to leave.
However, just as Ye Mu'en reached the entrance of the Public Security Bureau, he was intercepted.
"Young Master Ye, the leader wants to see you."
"Who are you?"
Ye Mu'en looked at the person before him, feeling somewhat unfamiliar. He seemed to have some memory of this person, but the impression was vague.
Secretary Ouyang didn't seem offended. He smiled and whispered something into Ye Mu'en's ear before stepping aside.
Ye Mu'en raised an eyebrow, surprised but not resistant. He got into the car.
The car sped towards a detached house in the suburbs and stopped. There were only a few other houses around, giving a sense of spaciousness.
"Young Master Ye, please."
As he walked into the courtyard, Ye Mu'en noticed several people hidden in the shadows. Judging by their auras, they were martial arts practitioners. But Ye Mu'en didn't look around unnecessarily, keeping his gaze forward and following Secretary Ouyang.
They went up to the second floor and stopped at a room door. Secretary Ouyang knocked lightly before stepping back behind Ye Mu'en.
"Come in."
A deep, magnetic voice came from inside.
Ye Mu'en pushed the door open and walked in. Secretary Ouyang quickly closed the door and left.
Upon entering, Ye Mu'en felt a sense of admiration for the young man. Besides his family's strong background, his personal excellence was also commendable. However, for someone living at such heights, all Ye Mu'en knew were fragmented rumors.
"Hello, leader."
The young man wearing glasses smiled faintly at Ye Mu'en, his demeanor very gentle.
"Young Master Ye, please sit. This should be the first time we've met."
