Chapter 114 A Lifesaver

Chapter 114 A Lifesaver

When Ye Shengge went to Brother Kui's place, Ye Mu'en insisted on following. Ye Shengge felt it was impolite to suddenly bring a stranger, but under her elder brother's stern gaze, she had to go in and greet him first.

Er Liang opened the door, and a rare smile appeared on his face when he saw Ye Shengge.

"Miss Ye, Brother Kui talks about you every day."

"I think he's thinking about the goods I have."

Er Liang scratched his head awkwardly.

"The goods Miss Ye has are all snapped up as soon as they hit the market. They are taken by those in higher positions, and people below don't even get a whiff."

Er Liang led Ye Shengge to the inner hall of the second courtyard. Brother Kui was still entertaining guests inside, so Ye Shengge stood in the courtyard admiring the flowers and plants.

"Miss Ye, you must bring us more goods this time. I want to get some for my old mother."

Er Liang whispered to Ye Shengge, his eyes gleaming with desire.

"Alright, tell me what you want, and I'll set it aside for you. You won't need to use your boss's resources."

"Great, thank you, Miss Ye. I'll tell you what I want before you leave. I don't want much, just enough to satisfy my old mother's cravings."

Brother Kui quickly sent his guest out. Ye Shengge, facing away from the guest, only saw a silhouette.

"Miss Ye, you're finally here. Please come in."

"Brother Kui, I have something to tell you."

Ye Shengge felt a little embarrassed. After all, people doing black market business were very cautious and didn't like their partners bringing strangers.

"Speak, if you have any difficulties, we'll figure them out together."

"Well, my elder brother found out I'm cooperating with you, and he's a bit worried. He wants to meet you."

Brother Kui's expression relaxed. He thought there was a problem with the goods.

"Ah, is that all? You're young, and it's normal for your family to be worried. Just bring your elder brother."

"Haha, Brother Kui, you're so straightforward. My elder brother is at the door. Ask Er Liang to call him in."

Ye Mu'en soon entered and looked helpless seeing his sister leisurely drinking tea.

But Brother Kui was different. He stood up abruptly when he saw Ye Mu'en and grabbed his hand.

"Young man, do you remember me?"

Ye Mu'en was unaccustomed to being held by a man and quickly shook him off, then subtly wiped his pants. Ye Shengge watched with amusement.

Ye Mu'en searched his memories and quickly recalled the original owner's past mission: rescuing a family of five, especially a child who was being taken to the border.

"I am one of the rescued family members from the hijacking case. You carried my youngest son back. You were seriously injured at the time. Later, I wanted to visit you in the hospital, but your unit didn't allow it."

Ye Mu'en didn't want to accept the good karma left by the original owner, as he hadn't exerted any effort himself.

"Serving the people is my duty."

Ye Shengge looked at her elder brother playfully, and he shot her a fierce glare.

"It's not a matter of duty. Being saved by you means owing you a life. I never expected Miss Ye to be your sister. Are you no longer working at your unit?"

Given Ye Mu'en's previous work nature, he absolutely couldn't be involved with the black market. So, he thought Ye Mu'en might have encountered some trouble and needed his help.

"I've quit. I want to spend more time with my family."

"It's good that you quit. Life is too short, and you've already contributed a lot."

Ye Mu'en didn't elaborate on his work. For now, they were just in a simple cooperative relationship.
