Chapter 716 Peculiar Words

When Lin Yuwei spoke, her gaze was fixed on Chu Chenyi. He was truly less likable than the big yellow dog she hadn't yet trained.

Now, even a few more glances at Chu Chenyi felt bothersome, yet he persisted in trying to get close, completely oblivious. He was such a nuisance. She wondered what it would take to make Chu Chenyi stop bothering her from time to time.

Just recently, the moment she returned to Pingyang Marquis Manor and had barely sat down for a cup of tea, Chu Chenyi followed right after. It was as if he had a tail stuck to her, one she couldn't shake off – truly, annoyingly so.

Chu Chenyi had never imagined that in Lin Yuwei's eyes, his status was lower than that of a mere big yellow dog.

Recalling the sight of that detestable dog barking at him, a wave of annoyance washed over him. Coincidentally, the manor hadn't had meat in a while. This was the perfect opportunity to let everyone taste the flavor of dog meat.

That big yellow dog had been fed quite well by Lin Yuwei. It should be enough for the entire household to have a hearty meal. With this thought, Chu Chenyi was already planning how to find a suitable reason to get rid of the big yellow dog.

Lin Yuwei remained unaware that Chu Chenyi had already set his sights on the dog she kept.

Feng Jin suppressed a laugh, struggling to keep it in. She found it incredibly difficult to hold back, almost to the point of tears.

She hadn't expected that after just a few days, she would look at Lin Yuwei with such admiration. Her skill at retorting had truly improved; it was remarkable. Those two sentences were simply brilliant.

Fighting down her excitement, Feng Jin stealthily gave Lin Yuwei a thumbs-up gesture of approval. If it weren't for Chu Chenyi's presence, she would have stood up and applauded long ago.

After being so thoroughly insulted, Chu Chenyi's expression grew even more grim. Sitting there was like sitting on pins and needles. He wasn't sure if Lin Yuwei would utter any more shocking words that would frighten him.

"Let's eat first. It'll get cold if we don't."

In the end, Lin Yuwei couldn't bring herself to drive Chu Chenyi away. Considering he was a prince, her nominal husband, she decided not to dwell on it this time.

She couldn't let him leave hungry. Besides, the two of them couldn't possibly finish all the dishes on the table. So, she magnanimously let Chu Chenyi stay and eat with them.

Lin Yuwei was the first to pick up her chopsticks and placed a piece of fish on Feng Jin's plate. "Sister Feng Jin, this fish was just caught this morning. It's very fresh. Sister Feng Jin, please try it and see if it suits your taste."

To prepare this meal for Sister Feng Jin, she had used the best ingredients and spent quite a bit of money. But as long as Sister Feng Jin could eat comfortably, she felt it was worth any expense.

It was a pity that these dishes would be somewhat of a bargain for Chu Chenyi, considering how thick-skinned he was, like a city wall, and impossible to get rid of.

She couldn't have him forcibly removed, so she could only let Chu Chenyi stay for the meal.

Lin Yuwei glanced at Chu Chenyi, who was eating with relish, and couldn't help but roll her eyes. He was eating quite heartily, showing no restraint at all.

"Does it taste good?"

Leaning closer to Chu Chenyi, Lin Yuwei asked with a slightly cold tone.

"It's not bad. It's just that this Mapo Tofu is a bit too spicy. It's not good for you to eat too spicy food while you're pregnant. You should stick to a lighter diet."

He had just taken a small bite of tofu and was already feeling the heat. If Lin Yuwei hadn't been pregnant before, he wouldn't have interfered, no matter how spicy she ate. But things were different now. She was carrying a child, and everything she ate and used required great care.

Such stimulating food, so spicy, definitely couldn't be eaten anymore. It seemed he needed to have a good talk with the people in the small kitchen. They had no basic common sense, serving such a dish to a pregnant woman like Lin Yuwei; it was simply reckless.

Chu Chenyi reached out and moved the Mapo Tofu away from him, placing it somewhere Lin Yuwei couldn't reach. He then arranged several dishes he deemed light in front of Lin Yuwei.

"I've already tasted these dishes. They are very light and healthy, perfect for you now."

Lin Yuwei's lips twitched involuntarily. She glared fiercely at Chu Chenyi with ill intentions, gritting her teeth as she forced out a few words: "If you're not going to eat, then leave quickly!"

She had kindly invited him to stay for dinner, and instead of being grateful, he had the audacity to get demanding.

He had moved away all the dishes she liked to eat and placed only bland, watery food in front of her, none of which were to her liking.

Forget about picking up her chopsticks to eat, she felt nauseous just looking at them. The sight of them made her feel incredibly irritated. In an instant, she regretted her momentary soft-heartedness in letting Chu Chenyi stay. Could she still find a way to get rid of him now?

"Eating some light vegetables is good. It increases dietary fiber, which is beneficial for your health."

For once, Feng Jin didn't contradict Chu Chenyi. Instead, she echoed his sentiment and placed a chopstickful of greens on Lin Yuwei's plate.

She was pregnant now, and eating lightly was good for her body and for the baby in her womb.

"Sister Feng Jin, why are you saying this too? And what is this 'dietary fiber' you're talking about? I've never heard of it."

After all, Sister Feng Jin always said surprising things and often spoke in strange ways that she couldn't understand.

What was this dietary fiber, and could it be eaten? Was it good or bad?

"Uh... this... this..."

Caught off guard by the question, Feng Jin's mind went blank for a moment. She couldn't think of a response. After a long pause, she continued, "It's another name for vegetables. I happened to see it in a book and thought it sounded elegant, so I remembered it."

In any case, attributing everything to books was always the correct approach. She couldn't possibly actually flip through a book at a moment's notice, and with so many books, it wasn't something she could find quickly.

"In a book... then why haven't I seen it in any books?"

What kind of books was she reading that contained such entries? Why had she never read such books before?

"I also forgot which book I saw it in. I've read so many books that I've mixed them up."

This statement from Feng Jin was by no means a boast. She was speaking the absolute truth. The books she had read, stacked up, could fill an entire room.

These were all accumulations of her knowledge, the most precious treasure of her intellect.

"Is that so..." Lin Yuwei still found it somewhat strange.
