Chapter 669 The Reward for You

Feng Jin turned her head and saw Ling Mo Han's look of disdain. She instinctively opened her mouth to ask.

The man coughed lightly, concealing the awkward expression on his face. He absolutely could not let Feng Jin discover anything amiss with him, and was trying his utmost to hide it.

"Of course not. I just can't understand why you insist on coming to a place like this."

A desolate place where birds wouldn't even defecate, no matter how hard he racked his brain, he couldn't fathom its purpose.

"This hermit has his own ingenious methods. Since you've stubbornly followed, you'll have to lend a hand."

Feng Jin, from somewhere unknown, produced some strange and peculiar tools that had never been seen before and thrust them into Ling Mo Han's hands.

The man lowered his gaze to the mysterious object in his hand, which could be either a hoe or a sickle, and frowned tightly. He asked in confusion, "Where on earth did you get these messy and bizarre things?"

He felt increasingly that the things in his hands were too peculiar. No matter how he looked at them, he couldn't discern what they were.

He wondered, what was the use of these things Feng Jin had researched?

"What do you know? These are all my treasures. I spent a great deal of effort researching them. I usually treasure them immensely. You must be careful with them sometimes, and absolutely do not break them?"

Feng Jin cautioned him with unease, afraid that Ling Mo Han might accidentally break them.

"What is this thing used for?"

Ling Mo Han examined it up and down, and finally asked in confusion, wanting to see clearly what Feng Jin was up to.

"Go and find some wood, and make them all into square blocks of this size."

Feng Jin took out small square blocks, about the size of a thumb, from her pocket and handed them to Ling Mo Han, asking him to use them as samples and replicate them.

"What use do you have for these things?"

Playing with the small wooden block in his hand, he didn't know what Feng Jin was trying to do. It was, as usual, some strange little trinkets, and he was already accustomed to it.

After all, Feng Jin simply liked to create these little things, all of which were things he had never seen and found inexplicable.

"Once you have prepared the wooden blocks, you will know."

It was all for those two troublesome little fellows, that she wanted to make a Rubik's Cube for them to play with.

Suddenly, she remembered that there was some discarded wood here, which was perfect for making parts of the same size. She had come here alone in the dead of night just to have everything ready before morning and give Da Bao and Er Bao a little surprise.

Who would have thought that someone would eagerly offer to help? If she were to disappoint Ling Mo Han's good intentions, her conscience would not be at ease.

As the father of the children, it was only natural for Ling Mo Han to contribute properly.

With free labor, Feng Jin was very relaxed. She moved a chair to the side and sat down, producing melon seeds from somewhere and cracking them with relish. She also occasionally directed Ling Mo Han.

This little life was truly enjoyable. Feng Jin's face was filled with a smile of contentment. It was indeed good to have someone to do the work.

The busy Ling Mo Han glanced at the leisurely Feng Jin and sighed helplessly. If he had known it would end like this, he would never have come with Feng Jin.

"Hurry up! Don't slack off there."

Feng Jin urged him on. Dawn was approaching, and she had promised the two children to have the surprise ready before then.

She absolutely could not break her promise to the children because of Ling Mo Han's laziness. Her heart became anxious, and she kept urging him on.

Following Feng Jin's instructions, Ling Mo Han dared not slack off at all. After toiling for over an hour, he finally prepared everything Feng Jin needed.

Ling Mo Han cupped a dozen small wooden blocks of the same size in his hands and presented them to Feng Jin.

"See, can these all be used?"

Feng Jin reached out and picked one up, examining it carefully. Although it wasn't perfect, it would do for now.

"They're passable," Feng Jin mumbled casually. After all, it wasn't something she made herself, so she wouldn't be too picky.

Ling Mo Han's lips curled slightly, and a hint of dissatisfaction flickered in his eyes.

It had been exhausting to meticulously shape all these small wooden blocks. In the end, he hadn't even earned a single word of satisfaction from Feng Jin. He felt like a fool who had been taken advantage of, and a fool who had nowhere to complain.

Feng Jin stood up and tidied her slightly disheveled clothes. All the necessary items were ready, and the rest of the work would be entirely hers.

"Thank you for your hard work today. You should go back and rest early. You don't need to worry about the rest."

The remaining work was all delicate. She didn't expect Ling Mo Han to be able to do it; it still required her own hard work.

"So you intend to use me and then discard me?" Ling Mo Han's tone was filled with mild dissatisfaction. At this moment, he felt like a handkerchief that had been used and carelessly thrown away by Feng Jin without any emotion.

Feng Jin was startled. She thought carefully about Ling Mo Han's words, and it seemed to be the case. A trace of guilt immediately flashed through Feng Jin's heart.

"Of course not. You've helped me so much, and I'm a grateful person."

After searching herself thoroughly, she found nothing useful. Finally, she simply took off the sachet tied to her belt and stuffed it into the man's hand.

"Let this sachet serve as a thank you for your hard work."

After all, Ling Mo Han had also worked hard all night, so she had to give him some compensation and not let him work in vain.

"This is it?" Ling Mo Han looked at the sachet in his hand, clearly thinking it was too little.

He hadn't received anything tangible. Just such an ordinary and unremarkable sachet, and she wanted to dismiss him with it? It was far too simple.

Feng Jin rolled her eyes. He was truly insatiable now. It was already very good that she gave him something as compensation. To dislike what he received for free was truly not knowing contentment.

"If you dislike it, then return it to me!"

As soon as her words fell, Feng Jin reached out to snatch it back. Before she could touch it, the man had already put it away.

"Once something is given, there's no taking it back."

Since it was already in his hands, he would never let it be taken back.

"You didn't want it, did you? You just disliked it immensely, but you were quite quick to put it away..."
