"That's how it is, what do you mean 'how it is'?"
Feng Jin's brows furrowed tightly, a host of question marks filling her expression at Chu Chenyi's response.
"That's how it is... this 'how it is' refers to that 'how it is'. You went in there for so long and that's all you accomplished? Chu Chenyi, you truly are useless."
"It's just like that. I don't know what else to say. She didn't forgive me, but I feel like she isn't as angry with me as she was before."
Chu Chenyi replied with a sense of profound defeat. He had no idea what was happening; Lin Yuwei's thoughts were simply too unfathomable at the moment.
He had sincerely apologized and sworn oaths to the heavens, yet Lin Yuwei remained unmoved, stubbornly refusing to utter words of forgiveness.
This left him completely helpless, unsure of what to do next. He worried that another wrong word would further enrage Lin Yuwei, so he withdrew, hoping for some improvement tomorrow.
Feng Jin rolled her eyes, her contempt for Chu Chenyi no longer concealed. He was so useless, unable to even appease one person. She had wasted so much time teaching him.
"Did you tell Lin Yuwei everything I said to you, word for word?"
"Yes, I did. I said it exactly as you taught me. But she just said that these matters no longer concerned her and asked me not to speak of them again."
It's over. It seemed Lin Yuwei was truly determined to sever ties with Chu Chenyi. Appeasing her this time would not be easy.
"Teach me again. Are there any other good ways to say it? This stalemate isn't going to work forever!"
Lin Yuwei's belly was growing larger by the day. He couldn't bear to let her stay here any longer. If Lin Yuwei still refused to return with him, he would have no choice but to stay here with her.
It was a move born of desperation. He could only impose upon them for a while longer. He believed that with time, Lin Yuwei would surely come to her senses.
This time, Feng Jin simply threw up her hands, indicating her helplessness.
"I've taught you everything I could. I'm out of ideas now. You'll have to figure it out yourself."
A master leads the way, but cultivation is a personal endeavor. She felt she had been a diligent master, wanting to impart all her lifelong knowledge to Chu Chenyi.
But this disciple was simply too disappointing. No matter how hard she, the master, worked, it would all be in vain.
Chu Chenyi would have to make his own efforts now. The outcome would be solely his own destiny.
"Are you just going to abandon me?"
Upon hearing this, Chu Chenyi was so agitated he almost leaped three feet high. He rushed in front of Feng Jin, launching into a barrage of questions, clearly displeased with Feng Jin's current indifference.
This was the critical moment; success or failure rested on this. And Feng Jin, at this very moment, was backing out. This was clearly sabotaging him, showing him absolutely no consideration.
"Stop shouting! You're deafening me!"
Feng Jin reprimanded him angrily, thoroughly annoyed by Chu Chenyi's current boisterousness.
Did he forget whose territory they were on? He was the one seeking a favor. Was this how Chu Chenyi treated someone he was asking for help? He was being arrogant and excessive, completely disregarding her.
Ling Mo Han, seeing Feng Jin's displeasure, stepped forward and shielded her protectively, pushing Chu Chenyi back with his imposing aura.
When one is under another's roof, they must bow their head. Who could they blame when there were two against one? Even in a one-on-one fight, he was no match for Ling Mo Han, let alone in this situation. It was already determined that he was the loser.
Despite his inner dissatisfaction, Chu Chenyi had no choice but to suppress his anger and sullenly sat down to the side, his solitary figure appearing incredibly forlorn and wronged.
"I'm just anxious. I was completely at a loss and was counting on Feng Jin. If you both wash your hands of this, what am I to do alone?"
In this predicament, he was consumed by anxiety, placing all his hopes on Feng Jin. If Feng Jin remained indifferent, he would have absolutely no hope left, no different from falling into hell.
Feng Jin, looking at his pitiful demeanor, rolled her eyes, utterly speechless. She had never known Chu Chenyi to have such a side before. Now he seemed like a child who hadn't received candy, throwing a tantrum after being wronged.
"Get up quickly. No matter what, you are a dignified prince. Sitting here shamelessly is unbecoming. Aren't you afraid of being seen and ridiculed?"
Feng Jin kicked Chu Chenyi directly in the backside. He was, after all, a prince, a duly enfeoffed king. Sitting shamelessly on the steps was not how a royal should behave, especially in front of servants. Wasn't he embarrassed?
"I won't get up! If you don't agree, I absolutely will not get up!"
Chu Chenyi was truly acting shamelessly now, determined that if Feng Jin didn't agree, he would pester her until she did.
He had lost all face anyway, so he might as well go all the way and dispense with any pretense of dignity.
"You... you really are..."
Feng Jin helplessly pressed her forehead. She was going to be thoroughly entangled by this couple, unable to shake them off, like a stubborn burr sticking to her.
"Do you really intend to sit here and not leave?" Feng Jin asked again, with great patience.
Chu Chenyi didn't think twice and said resolutely, "Yes. If you don't agree, I will absolutely not stand up!"
He had decided to throw caution to the wind today. He couldn't believe Feng Jin would truly just watch him sit there.
After all, he was a prince. The reputation of the Ling Residence for slighting and neglecting a prince would not sound good if it got out.
Feng Jin's lips twitched uncontrollably. After some thought, she calmly spoke, "Very well. Since Your Highness Prince Jing does not wish to leave, no amount of persuasion from me will be of any use. Then I will trouble Your Highness Prince Jing to continue sitting here. I shall take my leave first."
She had no intention of indulging him further. If he wanted to sit there, then let him. She absolutely would not utter another word of persuasion.
As her words fell, Feng Jin, under Chu Chenyi's gaze, resolutely turned and walked away, her pace brisk and unhesitating.
