The few people hiding in the room held their breath, daring not to move an inch.
Only when the commotion outside died down did they heave a sigh of relief.
"We can't keep hiding here. Sooner or later, Sun Shi's people will find us. We need to find a way to get out quickly."
They had narrowly escaped being discovered by Sun Shi just now. This time, they were lucky. But who could guarantee they would be so fortunate next time?
Feng Jin's brows were tightly furrowed, her worry deepening.
"Is there truly no other way out of this mansion?" Feng Jin asked Feng Yuanping, unwilling to give up.
Was there really no other exit in this grand mansion?
"There are only a few ways out of the mansion, all of which Sun Shi knows. Unless we grow wings and fly out."
"Prime Minister Feng, you trust Sun Shi so much, telling her everything without reservation. Did you ever imagine a day like this would come?"
Continuing to mock Feng Yuanping with her words, Feng Jin had to admit she was impressed. He had told Sun Shi everything, leaving no room for retreat. It served him right to end up in such a situation; he had brought it upon himself.
"Can't you say a few less words? Do you truly want to anger me to death before you're satisfied!"
Feng Yuanping suppressed his anger. If he were to argue with Feng Jin, he would die of anger before he could even escape.
"Since there's no other way out, we can only force our way out."
Ling Mo Han, who had been silent for a long time, spoke. This was the only viable option now.
However, he could escape with Feng Jin alone. But with the severely injured Feng Yuanping in tow, it would be difficult. Even he wasn't entirely confident of a safe escape.
"Force our way out?" Feng Jin glanced at Ling Mo Han, then looked down at Feng Yuanping. If it were just the two of them, forcing their way out would be possible. But Feng Yuanping was covered in injuries and could barely walk on his own, let alone be dragged out forcefully. This was simply impossible.
"We could, but Prime Minister Feng is severely injured and can barely walk. How can we get out?"
Feng Jin had initially intended to call Feng Yuanping by his full name. After all, he was her nominal father, and calling him by his full name felt a bit impolite. However, she couldn't bring herself to call him father. Addressing him as 'Prime Minister Feng' felt more appropriate.
Feng Yuanping also noticed Feng Jin's address. He had never heard Feng Jin call him father before.
He also knew his guilt towards Feng Jin and didn't dare to expect her to forgive him so quickly.
"I do know a place we can get out. It's a bit remote and not easy to get to, but it is an exit."
Feng Yuanping spoke vaguely, his words unclear, making Feng Jin suspect what kind of place it was, to be kept so mysterious. Just as she was about to ask for clarification, Ling Mo Han spoke before her, "Since there's a way out, then it's manageable."
"I'll go out first and create a distraction to lure them away. You take Prime Minister Feng and leave quickly."
Feng Jin hesitated for a moment before nodding in agreement. After Ling Mo Han left, Feng Jin glanced at Feng Yuanping, then turned her head away. She didn't know what to say and thought it best to remain silent.
After a pause, Feng Jin asked, "Can you walk now?"
"Should be able to." He had been bound for too long and was covered in wounds. Even a slight movement sent a piercing pain through him. His legs were only now starting to regain sensation.
Feng Jin took Feng Yuanping's wrist and checked his pulse. There were no major issues. His injuries were all superficial, although some had become inflamed, making wound cleaning troublesome.
"Eat this first. When we escape later, you'll have the strength and won't be a burden to me." httpδ:/m.kuAisugg.nět
"What is this..."
Feng Jin rolled her eyes, too lazy to explain to Feng Yuanping, and directly forced the pill into his mouth, making him swallow it.
"Don't worry, it's definitely not poison."
After saying this, Feng Jin didn't speak to Feng Yuanping any further.
When she heard movement outside the window, Feng Jin knew Ling Mo Han had succeeded in luring them away. They had to seize the opportunity and escape.
"Let's go." As soon as she spoke, she helped Feng Yuanping up and walked forward according to his guidance.
When Feng Jin saw the exit Feng Yuanping had mentioned, her eyes nearly popped out of her head.
"This is the exit you mentioned?"
Feng Jin pointed to a small dog hole at the bottom of the wall, hidden by weeds.
"This is the only place in the entire mansion that isn't guarded. Although it's small, we can still get out. A true man doesn't bother with trifles. I don't care about all that, so don't fuss. Your life is the priority now. As long as there's life, there's hope."
Feng Jin didn't bother to think about how Feng Yuanping knew about this dog hole. The hole was so small that she would have a hard time squeezing through. Could he really escape with his physique?
"Hurry up." Feng Yuanping called to Feng Jin, then bent down to crawl out. He had just managed to get his head through when he got stuck at his shoulders, unable to move forward or backward.
It was Feng Jin who, with great effort, pulled him out.
"Prime Minister Feng, look at how small this dog hole is. It's miraculous if someone of your build can even squeeze through."
Feng Jin sighed in exasperation. The only exit was now blocked. She was truly at a loss with Feng Yuanping.
Wasn't he quite cunning and crafty before? Had his intelligence declined, or had his head been dazed, making him do such foolish things?
"Think of any other small, secluded doors. Ling Mo Han can't hold them off for long. We need to get out quickly."
Feng Yuanping pondered for a long time before suddenly saying, "There is indeed another place to get out. It's a bit remote, a small door specifically for disposing of sewage. We'll go out through there."
"Let's go quickly." Feng Jin hurriedly pulled Feng Yuanping away. A sewage disposal door was still better than that dog hole.
When they arrived, Feng Jin left Feng Yuanping behind and went ahead alone to scout for guards. Gripping the crossbow on her wrist, she approached and found no one. Perhaps this place was too remote for Sun Shi to think of stationing guards, or perhaps the guards had gone to pursue Ling Mo Han.
Regardless, the priority was for them to leave first, and then signal Ling Mo Han to disengage quickly.
Feng Jin ran back, helped Feng Yuanping, and left the area at their fastest speed.
Once they reached a safe place, Feng Jin released a signal to notify Ling Mo Han to withdraw as soon as possible.
"Let's get on the carriage and leave first."
