Chapter 286 Departure

She was truly impressed with Ling Mohan. Last night, she had been caught up in the debate of whether he was more handsome or Sheng Xubai, and he wouldn't let her off the hook.

He had forced her to say many nice things about him before generously releasing her.

The tragic consequence was her throat, which was now in a terrible state, sore and uncomfortable.

With a creak, the door opened, and Cai Qing entered carrying a basin of water. "Young Madam, you're awake. Young General has already left. He's waiting for you to join him."

"He's left?"

"Yes, Young General said to let Young Madam sleep a bit longer and set off together once you woke up."

Cai Qing answered Feng Jin's confused question. When she had tried to wake Young Madam this morning, the Young General had stopped her, saying she should sleep a little more.

"Cai Qing, help me get ready."

She was so exhausted today that she didn't even have the strength to lift her arm. Washing herself would have been a complete waste of time.

"Yes, Young Madam."

She had Cai Qing do a simple and neat hairstyle for her, inserting a bright silver plum blossom hairpin, and then she went straight out.

By the time Feng Jin arrived, she was utterly stunned.

People filled the courtyard, all looking up with expectant eyes, their gazes fixed on her.

This made her involuntarily nervous, and she swallowed hard.

From behind the crowd, Ling Mohan, clad in white, walked towards her like a celestial being, approaching her directly. "What's wrong? Are you shocked by your husband's good looks?"

Ling Mohan was very pleased with Feng Jin's current reaction and seemed to be enjoying it immensely, as if relishing Feng Jin's admiration for him.

"What are you up to? Why are so many people waiting at the entrance?"

It made her feel uncomfortable to have so many eyes on her the moment she stepped out.

"Since you slept for so long, they could only wait here for you."

They had already been standing here for an hour. If they waited any longer, it would truly be dark.

He too had grown impatient standing there and had gone back to sit for a while before returning.

A trace of embarrassment crossed Feng Jin's cheeks, and her small face instantly turned completely red. She reached out and pinched the man's waist hard, then turned to leave with a flushed face.

"Young Madam." Cai Qing called from behind and hurried to catch up, looking completely bewildered.

"Young Madam, where are we going?"

They were fine just a moment ago, so why was she suddenly getting angry again? Cai Qing had no idea what had happened.

Feng Jin looked around, her gaze landing on a carriage parked in the distance. "Cai Qing, go and ask if that carriage is prepared for us."

She didn't want to ask Ling Mohan again. She had to rely on herself.

"Yes, Young Madam."

Cai Qing agreed and hurried away. However, after a short while, she rushed back, panting, "Young Madam, Young General said that carriage is indeed prepared for us. Young Madam, let's get in."

"Who told you to ask Ling Mohan?"

Feng Jin felt incredibly awkward. Out of all the people, why did she have to ask Ling Mohan?

What was the difference between that and asking herself? It would have been less awkward if she had asked herself.

"Young Madam, I asked others, but they ignored me."

What Cai Qing said was true. These people were all disguised members of the Black Armored Army, and their discipline was strict. They only obeyed Ling Mohan's orders.

Therefore, when Cai Qing rashly inquired, no one paid her any attention.

"Alright, never mind that useless talk. Let's get into the carriage."

Feng Jin, with Cai Qing's support, got into the carriage. "Where are the two children?"

Feng Jin, with her dwindling maternal affection, finally remembered the two children. Weren't they supposed to be leaving together? Why couldn't she see them?

"The two young masters have been arranged by Young General to be in a carriage behind us, with Granny Lin and Granny Zhang taking care of them. Young Madam can rest assured."

Feng Jin rolled her eyes speechlessly. Her carriage could seat ten people comfortably, yet they had arranged another carriage. Wasn't that redundant? In other words, it was a waste of money.

She worked so hard to earn money, and Ling Mohan insisted on squandering it all. That money was meant for the two children's future marriages.

"Young Madam, Young General was also worried that the young masters might disturb your rest, so he prepared a separate carriage."

Hearing this, Feng Jin felt a little better. At least Ling Mohan had some conscience.

"I'm going to sleep for a while. Wake me up when we arrive."

She was too sleepy. Her eyelids were constantly heavy, and she needed to sleep quickly.

As soon as she lay down on the soft couch, Feng Jin fell into a deep sleep.

When she woke up, it was already dark, and she was in an unfamiliar environment.

She sat up abruptly, stretching. The day had passed so quickly. Besides sleeping, she was on her way to sleep. Feng Jin felt truly exhausted.

After a moment, Feng Jin got up and went outside. As soon as she stepped out, she smelled the aroma of food. Her stomach, which hadn't had any sustenance all day, rumbled.

Following the scent, Feng Jin found her way. By the time she arrived, everyone had already started eating. Feng Jin spotted Ling Mohan's seat at a glance and walked over, sitting beside him.

"Awake?"

Feng Jin nodded, picked up her chopsticks, and began to eat.

"Young Madam, have some soup to line your stomach before eating these solid foods."

Cai Qing scooped a bowl of rice porridge and handed it to Feng Jin.

"Thank you."

Feng Jin, already famished, picked up the bowl and ate heartily.

"Granny Lin, where are the children?"

"The young masters are already asleep. Would Young Madam like to see them later?"

"I will, in a while."

She hadn't seen the little ones all day, and Feng Jin was starting to miss them.

"Eat in silence, speak in silence. Eat your meal properly."

Feng Jin glared at him fiercely. If he said less, no one would think he was mute.

He was being too overbearing, even about eating.

"I'm done eating."

With that, Feng Jin stood up and went to see the two little ones.

As she reached the doorway, she heard their baby talk. Feng Jin pushed the door open and walked in.

Da Bao and Er Bao heard the door open and turned their heads alertly.

"Ma…ma…"

"Hug…hug…"

The soft, indistinct voices of the little ones reached Feng Jin's ears, melting her heart.

"Greetings, Young Madam. The young masters must have known you were coming, which is why they just woke up."

"Granny Zhang, I'll watch them. You go down and eat something."

"Yes, Young Madam. I shall go now." Granny Zhang finished speaking and left.
