Cai Qing's startled shout almost deafened Feng Jin.
"What is it, acting so jumpy?" Feng Jin rubbed her nearly deafened ears.
"Young Madam, what... what happened to your neck?"
Cai Qing pointed at Feng Jin's neck, her voice full of shock.
Feng Jin touched her neck, felt a slight pain, and quickly got out of bed, rushing to the mirror.
Upon seeing herself in the mirror, her mouth gaped open, and she remained stunned for a long time.
Her neck was covered in red hickeys, some places faintly bruised, which looked even more frightening against her fair skin.
"Young Madam, I'll get you some ointment to put on."
Cai Qing reacted, quickly took ointment from a box, and began applying it to Feng Jin's neck.
"How did you get so hurt? Oh! This part is bruised, and this one too..."
As she applied the ointment, Cai Qing kept mumbling, completely unaware of how the injury occurred.
Feng Jin, however, knew exactly how these bruises came about.
Especially hearing Cai Qing speak so innocently about it, Feng Jin's thick skin, as thick as a city wall, couldn't help but blush.
"Cai Qing, you can go, I can do it myself."
Unable to bear it any longer, Feng Jin took the ointment from Cai Qing's hand, found an excuse, and sent Cai Qing away. If Cai Qing continued, she would truly be mortified.
Feng Jin held a bronze mirror, carefully examining her neck covered in red marks. How was she supposed to go out and face people?
She applied layer after layer of powder, but the hickeys remained visible. Feng Jin was simply despairing. She searched through all her clothes, but none could cover them.
From under the cabinet, she found a scarf with a fur collar, which could cover most of it, but it was too hot.
"Young Madam, it's time for your meal."
Seeing Feng Jin taking so long, Cai Qing, who had been waiting by the door, couldn't help but call out.
After a moment, the door opened from the inside. Feng Jin was bundled up like a polar bear.
"Young Madam, you're usually the one who fears the heat. Why are you dressed so warmly today?"
A trace of embarrassment crossed Feng Jin's face. She coughed lightly and said, "I feel a bit cold today, so I dressed more warmly."
"Cold?" Cai Qing looked confused. It was already the beginning of spring, the weather was gradually warming up, and the sun today was very strong. It wasn't cold at all. Wearing a winter outfit, she herself felt a bit hot.
"Young Madam, you're not sick, are you? That's why you feel cold. Should I call a doctor to take a look?"
"What doctor? My medical skills are far superior to those quacks. I'm sure I'm not sick. Let's go eat first."
Not wanting to continue the topic, Feng Jin skipped over it and walked forward with quick steps.
In the hall, Feng Jin, with her heavy fur collar, looked out of place compared to the others.
"Sister-in-law, aren't you hot?" Ling Wan asked after hesitating for a long time.
Feng Jin picked up a piece of fish with her chopsticks and put it into her mouth, casually saying, "Not hot, I feel just right."
As she spoke, unnoticed by others, Feng Jin smoothed her bangs and discreetly wiped away sweat, maintaining a composed appearance.
This meal was the most uncomfortable Feng Jin had ever had in her life. Every moment felt like an ordeal, especially since most of the dishes on the table were spicy and stimulating. Feng Jin's back clothes were soaked with sweat, sticking to her skin and making her extremely uncomfortable.
Therefore, after finishing her meal, Feng Jin quickly left. As soon as she returned to her room, she took a hot bath and washed away all the sweat, finally feeling much more comfortable.
Ling Mohan, that damn instigator, she didn't want to see him again.
As the saying goes, people are often talked about. Feng Jin had just cursed Ling Mohan in her heart when the man appeared before her.
"Cai Qing said you weren't feeling well. What's wrong?"
Feng Jin snorted coldly, ignoring him, and instead gave him a big eye-roll. She then sat down on a chair with her back to him.
"Are you angry?" Ling Mohan, with his sharp senses, noticed her odd behavior and sat opposite her, asking.
Feng Jin lifted her eyelids and glared fiercely at him. Wasn't he asking the obvious? Talking such useless nonsense.
"How dare I be angry with the Young General? If you get angry and kick me out again, my son and I will be left to wander the streets."
Feng Jin said sarcastically, looking at Ling Mohan with a complete lack of pleasantness.
That damned scoundrel, he made her the object of everyone's attention as soon as she stepped out.
Ling Mohan glanced at Feng Jin and then saw the ambiguous red marks on her neck. The wild scene of last night was still vivid in his mind. The man coughed lightly to conceal his discomfort, "About last night..."
"Shut up! Don't mention last night again!"
As if a sensitive nerve had been touched, Feng Jin immediately bristled. She stood up abruptly, hands on her hips, glaring at the man with a murderous look.
"Alright... I won't mention it. Get down from the chair slowly, don't disturb the baby!"
Having been pregnant for seven months, Feng Jin's belly was becoming increasingly prominent. It also appeared larger than that of ordinary pregnant women. Ling Mohan even suspected Feng Jin might be carrying twins.
He quickly helped Feng Jin sit down. Now, any slight movement from Feng Jin would make his heart clench.
"You only care about your son. You can go back with your son for the rest of your life!"
The anger in her chest intensified. Ever since she became pregnant, Ling Mohan had been solely focused on the child, paying less and less attention to her.
"I'm not..."
"Shut up, I don't want to hear your explanation. Get out, get out!" Feng Jin pushed and shoved, trying to get Ling Mohan out.
Fearing that their shoving might affect the baby in Feng Jin's womb, Ling Mohan kept dodging.
"Alright, stop making a fuss. I really know I was wrong."
Seizing an opportunity when Feng Jin wasn't paying attention, Ling Mohan reached out and pulled her into his arms, leaning affectionately on her shoulder. "In my heart, only you are the most important. The reason I care about the child is because it is our child, the continuation of our lives together. It's out of love for you that I love everything related to you."
Ling Mohan's words were very effective on Feng Jin. In just a few sentences, he coaxed her into happiness, sweeping away all her previous gloom.
"Not angry anymore?"
Feng Jin turned her head slightly, her voice tinged with shyness, "Considering your performance has been decent this time, I'll forgive you for now, but it still depends on your future actions."
"Whatever my wife says." After speaking, Ling Mohan kissed Feng Jin on the cheek.
"I just said it depends on your performance, and you're already pushing your luck."
