The sight was rather comical.
Feng Jin couldn't help but let out a chuckle, which did much to alleviate the dissatisfaction she had felt earlier.
"Young General..."
Just as she was feeling cheerful, Feng Jin heard Cai Qing's voice beside her. The smile on her lips gradually faded.
She turned around to face the man behind her. "Is there something?" If not, then get lost quickly, don't be an eyesore here.
Cai Qing couldn't help but wipe his sweat. The young madam was too sharp-tongued. With so many people around, she should at least spare the young general some face.
"It's getting late, my dear wife should return home." Ling Mo Han didn't get angry but smiled, his lips curling into a doting expression.
Everyone present praised their deep affection.
Feng Jin suppressed the urge to roll her eyes. To prevent Ling Mo Han from continuing to assault her eyes, she had no choice but to say, "Let's go back first."
With that, she took Ling Mo Han's hand and walked out.
Seeing this, Cai Qing hurried to catch up.
As soon as they were out of Jing Wang Fu and in a deserted area, Feng Jin quickly let go of the man's hand and took a step back to create distance.
"The young general's carriage is just ahead. Please return to the mansion first. I have some matters to attend to before I go back."
Firstly, she didn't want to be in the same space as Ling Mo Han. Secondly, the medical hall had just purchased a batch of medicinal herbs, and she needed to check them.
Ling Mo Han's face instantly drooped. Ignoring Feng Jin's explanation, he grabbed the woman's hand and pulled her towards the carriage ahead.
"What are you doing, Ling Mo Han? Let go of me..."
Cai Qing was also terrified and stood by helplessly, not knowing what to do. "Young General, you... you please let go of the young madam..."
After shoving her into the carriage, Ling Mo Han said in a deep voice, "Lu Shi, return to Ling Mansion."
"Yes, Young General." Lu Shi drove the carriage forward.
"Ling Mo Han, you scoundrel! This is kidnapping and extortion, this is against the law! I'll report you to Dali Temple!"
"As you wish..." the man said lightly.
Feng Jin was enraged by his attitude, her resentment growing even stronger, wishing she could tear him apart to vent her anger.
"Whoosh..." A cold light flashed, and a powerful arrow pierced the carriage.
Ling Mo Han's expression changed abruptly. He reached out, pulled Feng Jin into his arms, and shielded her within his protection.
"Young General, there are assassins, about twenty of them."
The carriage was surrounded by men in black, each wielding a sharp blade. They were skilled, far from ordinary individuals.
Feng Jin came back to her senses and tightly clutched Ling Mo Han's sleeve. "Ling Mo Han, I..."
"Don't speak. Stay in the carriage and be good."
The man commanded in a deep voice, his eyes devoid of their previous gentleness, now filled with killing intent.
"Young General, it's been a long time. You're actually not dead, which is quite unexpected." The leader of the men in black said with a hint of regret.
The Frost Curse was incurable, yet Ling Mo Han had such good luck to have stumbled upon someone who could break it.
"It's quite unlucky for you that I happened to meet you. Your master must be disappointed."
Ling Mo Han said in a low voice. These twenty-odd people were skilled, and it seemed they had come prepared.
He could handle them alone, but with Feng Jin present, it wouldn't be so easy to escape.
"Today is your death day. Accept your fate!"
The leader gestured with his hand, and the rest of them charged towards Ling Mo Han.
The sound of clashing swords and fighting filled the air outside the carriage. Cai Qing trembled in a corner, "Young Madam... are we going to die here..."
She didn't want to die yet... she hadn't gotten married, hadn't gone to eat the cherry pastries on East Street...
"Don't worry, we'll be fine."
Feng Jin held Cai Qing's hand and comforted her. With Ling Mo Han here, they would be fine.
"Young General..."
Lu Shi's angry shout from outside the carriage made Feng Jin's heart lurch. She quickly lifted the curtain and looked out.
Three assassins in black had surrounded Ling Mo Han.
Fighting three at once, Ling Mo Han was not at a disadvantage. In fact, the three assassins seemed to be struggling to cope.
Only then did Feng Jin truly realize the terrifying power of Ling Mo Han.
"Ling Mo Han, be careful of your right rear!"
Seeing an assassin attempt a sneak attack, Feng Jin instinctively shouted a warning, which also drew the attention of the other assassins to Feng Jin's direction.
Immediately, three of them drew their swords and charged towards Feng Jin.
Feng Jin's eyes narrowed. She clutched three silver needles in her hand, all of them infused with potent poison that would cause death upon contact with blood.
She had originally kept them as a backup, but unexpectedly, they were useful today. All she needed to do was accurately strike them with the silver needles.
"Feng Jin!" Ling Mo Han glanced sideways, seeing the three men rushing towards Feng Jin. He tried to go to her rescue but was tightly engaged and couldn't break free.
When the assassins were only a few meters away from her, Feng Jin flipped her hand, and three streaks of silver light shot out.
The three men instantly fell to the ground, unable to move.
The leader of the men in black's expression changed. His dangerous gaze fell upon Feng Jin. This woman was indeed not simple. He then charged towards Feng Jin with his sword.
Feng Jin threw two more silver needles in succession, but both were dodged.
This person's martial arts were far superior to the others. Although her silver needles were highly poisonous, she lacked internal energy, and the force was insufficient. With a slight parry, they were blocked.
She had only one silver needle left. She needed to find an opportunity for a decisive blow.
Seeing that Feng Jin had no more needles to shoot, the assassin in black assumed she was out of them and his vigilance relaxed considerably.
Holding his sword, he approached Feng Jin step by step, "You were the one who broke Ling Mo Han's Frost Curse. How dare you ruin our plans, die!"
"Ling Mo Han, kill him quickly!"
Feng Jin shouted suddenly. The assassin in black quickly looked back.
Seizing the opportunity, Feng Jin shot out the last silver needle in her hand. The assassin in black immediately fell to the ground.
Feng Jin breathed a sigh of relief. She looked at the lifeless assassin on the ground with disdain and kicked him.
With their leader dead, the remaining men were quickly dealt with by Ling Mo Han.
"I told you to stay in the carriage. Who told you to come out?"
Ling Mo Han shouted, his voice laced with anger. When the assassin had charged towards Feng Jin with his sword, his entire heart had been clenched. Fortunately, Feng Jin was unharmed.
"I'm fine, aren't I? I can handle these small fries."
She was confident in dealing with these few people.
Seeing that Feng Jin was unharmed, Ling Mo Han breathed a sigh of relief. His body swayed, and he collapsed onto Feng Jin.
Feng Jin quickly supported him. As her hand touched his back, she found it wet and saw a handful of black blood. Something was wrong...
"Lu Shi, return to the mansion quickly!" Feng Jin said urgently.
She took out an antidote pill and put it into Ling Mo Han's mouth, then sealed his acupoints to reduce blood loss.
