Chapter 5 The Complaint

"Young Master, are you alright? Shall I fetch a physician for you?" the servant stammered, his face paling with fear as he approached Ling Muzhu.

"Scram!"

Ling Muzhu scrambled to his feet from the ground, roaring as he charged back into the room. "Ugly woman, not only did you try to murder my cousin, but you dare treat me like this! I'll kill you today…"

*Bang!*

"Ah…"

He'd barely stuck his foot in when the door slammed shut, trapping him. He yelped in pain, "Call a physician, quickly call a physician!"

"Young Master!!"

As the two servants rushed forward, supporting Ling Muzhu on either side, his hysterical curses still echoed through the courtyard: "Feng Jin, you just wait! I will never let you off!"

Feng Jin paid no mind to the wails outside. Seeing that enough was done, she removed the silver needles from Ling Mohan's body.

Then, she took his pulse again.

"It seems he'll wake up in the next two days."

Although she had used the Thirteen Needles of the Ghost Doctor to suppress the ice curse within Ling Mohan, for him to fully recover, the ice curse would need to be extracted.

However—

Extracting the ice curse required several medicinal herbs, two of which were rumored to be extinct and likely difficult to find.

Of course, "difficult to find" was relative. For Feng Jin, it was as simple as lifting a hand.

Just as Feng Jin was about to rest briefly and gather her strength for the impending siege, hurried footsteps approached from outside.

They're here already?

Feng Jin curled her lips and looked up.

"Madam, the Old Master requests your presence!" the butler entered expressionlessly, his tone cold and devoid of any respect.

"Oh."

Feng Jin calmly walked out.

Seeing her composure, the butler mistook it for pretense, a cold sneer forming on his lips, his eyes filled with even greater contempt.

Main Courtyard.

"Grandfather, that ugly woman actually dared to lay hands on my brother and me! She's only been married for a day and has already caused such chaos. If this gets out, won't people laugh at us?"

Ling Yan, whose acupoints had been sealed, forcing her to stand in the sun for half an hour, and who had just heard that her brother had injured his foot by Feng Jin, angrily rushed to report to Old Master Ling.

She not only wanted to drive Feng Jin out of the manor but also wanted that woman to become a laughingstock throughout the capital.

Divorced by her in-laws on her wedding day!

Hmph!

The rumors alone would flay Feng Jin.

Old Master Ling gripped his dragon-headed cane, his cloudy eyes holding a hint of authority. "How is Muzhu's injury?"

"The physician said the young master injured his foot and needs to rest in bed for a few days, until the bruising on his foot subsides," the servant replied truthfully.

"Grandfather, you heard the physician. Are you still going to protect her?" Ling Yan, seeing Old Master Ling's delay in making a decision, became even more agitated and spoke recklessly, "Even if Grandfather wants to bring luck to my elder cousin, he shouldn't have chosen such a lowly woman…"

"Silence! She is your cousin-in-law!" Old Master Ling reprimanded sternly.

"I don't have such a shameless cousin-in-law." Ling Yan retorted immediately, her words becoming increasingly unrestrained, "She's nowhere near as good as Sister Ruoyan. With someone like her, you expect her to bring luck? Grandfather, aren't you afraid she'll be the death of my elder cousin!"

"Insubordinate!" Old Master Ling's face suddenly darkened as he roared, "Your father has spoiled you to the point of lawlessness. How dare you slander Han behind his back."

"Grandfather."

Ling Yan trembled, daring not to utter another word, fearful that her grandfather would enforce family law.

Although her parents doted on her, if her grandfather gave the order, she wouldn't escape a beating.

It's all Feng Jin's fault!

If it weren't for that little slut, Grandfather wouldn't be so angry with her!

At this moment, the butler entered. "Old Master, Madam is here."

"Grandfather."

Upon entering, Feng Jin sensed the atmosphere was somewhat off. She glanced at Ling Yan and then approached Old Master Ling.

"Have you seen Han?"

Old Master Ling's words surprised Feng Jin. She had expected an outburst, but instead, she nodded.

"Given Han's current condition, it is indeed unfair to you.

Old Master Ling paused, his cloudy eyes holding an unreadable emotion. "Yan'er and Muzhu are still childish. They are family from now on. As the elder sister-in-law, please be more understanding."

"Grandfather…"

Ling Yan's eyes widened in disbelief. She had thought her grandfather would stand up for her and her brother, but he hadn't even mentioned it. She immediately exploded, "You injured my brother, and you still want to stay in the Grand Tutor's manor? Don't even think about it, get out!"

"Which eye of yours saw me lay a hand on him?" Feng Jin retorted with a half-smile.

"Still quibbling? If it weren't for you, how would my brother be bedridden?" Ling Yan's face was filled with rage, wishing she could bore holes into Feng Jin.

Feng Jin shrugged. "It has nothing to do with me."

"What? You're scared now? What were you doing earlier?"

Ling Yan saw that Feng Jin didn't dare to admit it and sneered, "Do you think that by not admitting it, Grandfather won't know? You must have forgotten, there were servants who witnessed you attacking me and my brother."

The moment she finished speaking.

A wailing cry, laced with tears, came from outside. "Grandfather, you must uphold justice for me! This vicious woman not only tried to harm my elder cousin but also crippled my leg."
