As the words fell, Su Ying’s tall and slender figure appeared in their sight.
Li Tianle felt a sense of relief when someone arrived, but before he could fully relax, unfriendly eyes fell upon him.
He then remembered his current predicament.
He stood to the side, while Wen Bai lay on the sofa, being attended to by Miss Lin, looking as if he had been bullied. Miss Lin was meticulously asking if the vixen had touched his wound and where the first-aid kit was.
From any angle, it looked like he, a guest in someone else’s home, had bullied their young lover.
For the first time, Ji Tianle felt he couldn’t explain himself even if he jumped into the Yellow River.
As expected, the owner of the villa’s face darkened as he entered and saw the situation.
Ji Tianle also noticed that this person looked a bit familiar. Had he seen him somewhere before?
Su Ying strode over and steadied Wen Bai. Lin Shuangshuang tactfully moved aside, allowing Su Ying to examine Wen Bai’s wound.
“There’s a first-aid kit in the cabinet to the right of the television. Miss Lin, please get it for me.”
“Okay.” Lin Shuangshuang quickly walked over and opened the cabinet, indeed finding a first-aid kit.
Ji Tianle found himself baffled. It was just a few stitches; why was this grown man being so delicate? And a woman comforting a man!
His wound was being checked by one person after another.
Before he could finish his internal grumbling, he saw his Miss Lin hastefully bringing over the first-aid kit.
Over there, Su Ying skillfully handled Wen Bai’s wound, then stood up and said, “It’s fine.”
Only then did Ji Tianle notice the clumps of red bloodstains on the disinfected cotton on the iron tray.
Damn it, that was ruthless! That Wen fellow was willing to self-harm just to frame him!
Now facing Lin Shuangshuang’s reproachful gaze and a man’s hostile stare, he felt a bit overwhelmed, especially since he was in someone else’s home.
“You might not believe me, but this was truly just a misunderstanding,” he heard himself say dryly.
Su Ying’s gaze was sharp. “If the two of you have nothing else, then we won’t be inviting you to stay for dinner. We haven’t prepared extra food.”
Lin Shuangshuang had been to the kitchen. Did she not know if they had food?
That two-meter-tall, three-door built-in refrigerator was stuffed to the brim, enough to prepare a banquet even at this moment.
But ultimately, she bore some responsibility for today’s events.
Although this Mr. Ji and Wen Bai seemed to know each other, their relationship clearly wasn't good. It was also her own carelessness. She now recalled that Mr. Ji's attitude hadn't been particularly friendly or even sincere when he came to deliver the flowers.
Lin Shuangshuang felt exceptionally guilty, regretting her impulsive decision to bring him here.
Wen Bai’s wound hadn’t even been fully healed, and now it had reopened. The wound was originally her fault, and now its reopening was indirectly her fault as well. Guilt was about to drown her.
At this moment, she felt like Yu Yang was her unlucky star, and she herself was Wen Bai’s unlucky star; nothing good ever happened when they met.
“Then we’ll trouble you today. I also have something to do, so I’ll be leaving now. Mr. Wen, please take good care of your wound.” Saying this, she pulled Ji Tianle along, grabbed her bag, and bolted out the door.
Wen Bai’s gaze was fixed on Lin Shuangshuang’s retreating back, wishing he could fly over and end this task with a single blow.
Alas, the duck that was almost caught had flown away.
“Feeling regretful? Shall I have Lin Shuangshuang stay behind?”
“Hm?” Wen Bai hadn’t reacted yet.
System 001: “Host! Take back your gaze! Su Ying’s anger level is detected to be soaring again!”
Wen Bai turned his head and met Su Ying’s gentle gaze.
Those long, slender eyes didn’t look angry at all. Moreover, this was softer than how Su Ying usually spoke to him.
He really didn’t understand why this person could get angry with such an expression.
But there were more important things at hand.
“I’ve waited for you for a long time. I’m hungry,” he stated his request directly, his voice, relaxed by the departure of the female lead, softened slightly, sounding lazy, more like a pout.
He had genuinely been waiting for Su Ying to return and cook for him since he left.
Wen Bai felt he had endured much humiliation today and urgently needed to heal his wounded body and mind with delicious food.
Su Ying was also quite accommodating. He asked Wen Bai to wait a moment before heading to the kitchen.
Wen Bai contentedly continued to watch the 24-hour loop of food programs on the television.
System 001: “Host, don’t you need to pacify him?”
“Pacify him?”
“Yes, haven’t you forgotten what I told you? Humans in a relationship have volatile emotions; they get angry very easily and calm down just as easily, provided someone they care about says a few kind words or does something thoughtful.
“What are the consequences if I don’t pacify him?” Wen Bai asked, puzzled.
System 001 gave an example: “Constant anger without release will fester in the heart, leading to distraction and a lack of concentration. Work will be prone to errors, and mistakes will happen…”
“Cooking will be significantly subpar,” Wen Bai interjected seriously.
System 001: “…”
“That’s not wrong either.”
Wen Bai finally realized, “Then this is indeed a very serious problem.”
“Is his anger level still rising?”
System 001: “No, ever since you said you were hungry, it’s remained at the peak it reached and hasn’t moved.”
Although they hadn’t lived together for long, cooking and related tasks were entirely handled by Su Ying. From preparing ingredients to the final dish, and even clearing up afterward, he would bring the dishes to the dishwasher.
Wen Bai had always been the one sitting at the dining table, waiting to be fed.
Neither of them seemed to find this unusual.
Su Ying meticulously prepared the ingredients, washing the meat, evenly slicing it with a knife, blanching it, and then proceeding with the next steps in an orderly fashion.
Then he felt someone walk in.
Wen Bai stood to the side, watching Su Ying’s fluid movements as he performed these actions, and then said, “Your sweet and sour pork ribs are delicious.”
Su Ying’s hands paused. “You want to eat ribs?”
He frowned, then walked around the counter to the built-in refrigerator, opened it, and searched. “Aunt Wang might not have bought ribs.”
“I like squirrel fish too,” Wen Bai continued.
“There are fish, but eating it now isn’t conducive to your wound’s recovery.”
“I’ll only eat a few bites of your vegetable dishes.”
System 001: “Host, didn’t you come to pacify him? Are you trying to pick a fight?”
Wen Bai frowned. “I’m praising him.”
System 001: “…”
He didn’t get that impression at all.
Su Ying, however, seemed to have realized something.
Rarely, System 001 felt Su Ying’s anger level slightly decrease, but only by a tiny bit!
