After descending from the Great Wall, their group went to Wo Ya Ju for a meal. Perhaps intimidated by Feng Changze's gaze, Qi Wenjing didn't do anything excessive afterward. It wasn't until everyone had ordered their dishes that Qi Wenjing excused herself and went out.
When she returned, her expression had clearly improved. However, everyone was busy chatting amongst themselves and no one noticed her. Qi Wenjing didn't mind; instead, she sat there calmly, sipping her tea. After the recent events, she knew she couldn't confront them directly. They were too numerous, and they all protected that bitch. So, when she went out earlier, she found someone to put poison in her soup. This poison was originally intended for someone else, but since this person had delivered herself, she'd test it out on her first.
Gu Jingyi noticed Qi Wenjing's odd behavior. Recalling her recent trip out, he had a bad premonition and also found an excuse to leave. With nowhere else to go, he went directly to the kitchen. With the help of money, he quickly found out what Qi Wenjing had done there.
Gu Jingyi sneered. He wasn't inactive out of good temper, but rather due to concerns about his father. But what did these people think they were? It seemed the quickest solution was to crush them all as soon as possible. Gu Jingyi gave the kitchen staff five large bills, instructing them to switch the substance and return it to her. The staff readily accepted; this was almost two months' salary, and it was an easy task to help switch something.
After finishing, Gu Jingyi returned to his seat, calming the hostility in his heart. Ji Xingmi had been listening to her elder brother when the person next to her returned and sat down. With lingering unease in his eyes, he assumed something had happened and leaned over to ask.
To Ji Xingmi's surprise, Gu Jingyi told her everything he had discovered during his outing. Their intimate interaction was observed by some. Qi Wenjing lost some of her composure and even let out a loud sound, drawing everyone's attention. Ji Xingmi also glanced at her at this moment.
Ji Xingmi even smiled at Qi Wenjing, which only made Qi Wenjing angrier. In her eyes, Ji Xingmi's action was a complete provocation. Ji Xingmi didn't care much; if someone dared to play with poisons against her, then they would see whose poison was more potent.
Soon, someone came to serve the dishes. Qi Wenjing was too busy watching Ji Xingmi to notice that the person entering was not the one she had arranged. When she saw Ji Xingmi drinking the soup, she was practically ecstatic. To suppress her excitement, she drank her own soup in one gulp, finally stabilizing her emotions.
Ji Xingmi drank happily, as the dishes at Wo Ya Ju were always good. Even if Gu Jingyi hadn't noticed or swapped the poisoned dish, she could still tell if there was poison. Since Gu Jingyi said it was fine, she trusted him and ate and drank without hesitation.
Qi Wenjing, likely believing her poisoning attempt had been successful, remained unusually quiet during the meal. This puzzled Ji Haoqi, who had prepared himself to retort. He had a belly full of words ready to say, and now, he was feeling stifled.
As everyone was leaving, for some unknown reason, Qi Wenjing bumped into Ji Xingmi, nearly causing her to fall. Fortunately, Gu Jingyi and Ji Haocheng were nearby and quickly caught her. In the ensuing chaos, Ji Xingmi unintentionally grabbed Qi Wenjing's arm, but everyone's attention was on Ji Xingmi, so no one noticed.
Ji Haoqi, as if a switch had been flipped, rebuked Qi Wenjing until her face turned red. Qi Wenjing felt incredibly wronged. She hadn't done it on purpose; why was he saying all this to her? She looked up at Gu Jingyi, who was currently tending to Ji Xingmi and hadn't even spared her a glance. When he finally looked over, his eyes were filled with blame. This was too much for Qi Wenjing, and she turned and ran.
Gu Jingyi acted as if he hadn't seen anything, showing no concern. Instead, Ji Xingmi asked, "Aren't you going to check on her?"
"It has nothing to do with me. Shall I take you back first? Or would you like to stroll around some more?"
Ji Xingmi didn't feel like strolling anywhere. Besides, climbing the Great Wall had pushed her to her physical limit, and it was better to go back and rest.
